Travel to Leipzig Posted: Sat August 1, 2009 11:50 AM UTC
Hi,
We need to travel to Leipzig in late September because my daughter is studying there. We will have to take far more luggage than we can get on the plane so are thinking of going by train or coach or ferry - or a combination of these where we can take enough luggage for her to live there. Does anyone haqve a better idea? Can anyone help with a sensible route that is not going to cost the earth?
Thanks

Train in Leipzig Posted: Tue May 26, 2009 05:32 AM UTC
My husband and I will travelling by train in Germany in September and before I make some seat reservations I need some advice.
We are travelling from Berlin to Frankfurt and were planning on leaving on the 6.52am train from Berlin HBF arriving in Frankfurt at Frankfurt Main at 11.35. This train has a 6 minute stop and change of train at Leipzig. Can anyone tell me if this also means a change of platforms or would it be safer to take an earlier train which goes direct to Frankfurt or the next one which goes via Hanover. We will have 2 pieces of luggage with us and we speak no German. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Best way to get to Leipzig Posted: Sun July 6, 2008 06:28 PM UTC
Hello everyone!
I'm going to live in Leipzig next semester and I'm schedule my flights so I wanted to know if anyone could give me some help on the cheaper way to get to Leipzig from Frankfurt or from Berlin. I've heard that from Berlin there are some specials trains that pass on Leipzig and are cheaper. Does anyone know about them? :) And if you do, can you please give me the name of the company so I can check the prices and schedule online?
Thank you very much!
Best Regards,
Maria

Altlanta Hotel - a few questions. Posted: Fri April 4, 2008 11:16 AM UTC
I would like to know how far the Atlanta Hotel at Südring 21 is from the Agra ?
A map seems to indicate that it is less than 3km. Is this about right ? We don't mind a 3km walk but just want to ensure this is correct.
Also do trams run to the area in which the hotel is ?
The event we are attending includes free use of public transportation (tram, city-busses, regional trains, surburban trains) within the zone 110 of MDV.
Does the hotel fall with this zone ?
Thanks in advsnce for any information.

One day in Leipzig: Art, Architecture, Design... Posted: Wed February 27, 2008 01:32 PM UTC
Hi,
has anybody good suggestions for nice places in Leipzig? I am there just for one day. What are the hip quarters, not the touristic places but nice pubs, shops etc. Maybe you know a good fair prized restaurant or cafe that is a must? Also I am interested in architecture, just in case anybody knows some news in modern architecture.
As for museums: Which one would you prefer: a) www.mdbk.de or b)www.gfzk.de
Any tips for the "Spinnerei"?
Thank you so much,
Chris.

Leipzig city walking tours? Posted: Thu January 24, 2008 09:55 PM UTC
Can anyone suggest a reliable company that offers guided walking tours of Leipzig? We are to spend four days there soon (6 of us - all English speakers and all of mature years! Though we are still very active!)
Ideally we would like 2 to 3 hours on our first morning (a Thursday) so as to get an overview of the city and perhaps a peek at one or two of the lesser-known areas.

Bus from Leipzig to Dresden Posted: Wed February 7, 2007 08:30 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm looking for information on bus timetables/prices for a return ticket from Leipzig to Dresden. I can find info on trains but as they're quite expensive I thought I'd check out the buses.
Does anyone know how long the journey takes by bus from Leipzig Hauptbanhof to Dresden Zentrum and how much it costs. Links to any bus company websites would be helpful.
Thanks!

Shopping: Eyeglass Frames and Bogner Handbag Posted: Sat October 28, 2006 05:51 PM UTC
I love the eyeglass frames available in Germany and am in the market for a new Bogner handbag. I'm not going to have much time to window shop and browse in Leipzig so any suggestions on specific shops to target for these items would be most appreciated. Thanks!!!

Christmas Concerts at St Thomas Kirch Posted: Fri October 27, 2006 09:44 PM UTC
I shall be in Leipzig over Christmas and would like to attend the Christmas Motet (24th) and the carols (20-22th) at St Thomas Kirch. Does one need to buy tickets ahead or is it like a typical church event open to everyone who gets there early enough?
If one just needs to be early, how early do we need to be?
If we need tickets, how do I order them?
Thank you.

Leipzig Car Service/Airport Transfers Posted: Fri October 27, 2006 04:09 PM UTC
I wonder if anyone can suggest a limo or cab service in Leipzig that pre-books airport tranfers. My hotel can arrange a car but the cost seemed excesive -- €85,00 one way. I know the express train is an option but I would prefer door to door if possible. Thanks.

Best Western's Premier Victor´s Residenz-Hotel Leipzig Posted: Fri October 27, 2006 04:32 AM UTC
I am going to be visiting Leipzig in a couple of weeks. I'm currently booked at The Furstenhof but recently stumbled on Victor´s Residenz-Hotel Leipzig on another website. There were only three reviews and the one offering "candid shots" used photos directly from the hotel's website. The location sounded a bit more convenient but I haven't been able to find out much about the hotel. Is it a luxury property? Has anyone seen it or stayed there? Any feedback would be appreciated. I wouldn't want to make a mistake to cut six minutes off of a walk!
