Any suggestions on how to find a relative Posted: Mon July 31, 2006 10:18 PM UTC
I have a cousin who was living in Kariba (or at least in that vicinity), working as a nurse/matron of a medical facility. Have lost her address, and not been in touch with her for several years. Has anyone any suggestions of good search engines for Zimbabwe and/or South Africa? (she may have moved there to be with her brother) I appreciate all assistance.

4x4 hire with driver hire Posted: Tue July 18, 2006 10:00 AM UTC
Could you possibly advise as to how much to budget per day for a 4x4 and driver in and around Harare/Bulawayo?
Could you also possibly advise as to roughly how much accommodation and subsistence would be necessary per night/day for the driver outside of Harare/Bulawayo?
Many thanks

transport between Lusaka and Karibe Posted: Sat July 15, 2006 08:46 PM UTC
Transport between Lusaka and Karibe
Do you know if a public bus or tourist bus is available from Lusaka to Karibe. I arrive in Lusaka at 1pm on September 14th and I need to get to Karibe that same day, because I have a canoe safari the next day up to Mana Pools for 4 days and 3 nights. Then I return from Karibe to Lusaka on the 18th departing Karibe around noon or so. If you know of a cheaper way to go between these places, and the schedules, I would appreciate your help.
Thanks

Cash in Victoria Falls Posted: Sat May 6, 2006 06:24 PM UTC
Everybody is saying not to use credit cards at Victoria Falls because of the exchange rate issues. There are however lots of activities like bungee jumping, plane flights, guided tours etc. that cost alot of money. I think I will be spending close to US$700 while there. I do not fancy carring all this cash around.
What did others do while here?

Canoe safari on the Zambezi Posted: Sun March 26, 2006 09:15 AM UTC
Hi,
Has anyone done the overnight canoe safari on the upper zambezi, staying on an island overnight. My husband & I would love to do it but have been told that there are no 'facilities' at all on the island. We would love to know just how basic it is and is the canoeing difficult?
We are also planning to do the elephant back safari - anyone know if this is good?
Look forward to getting some info.

Accommodation Posted: Mon March 20, 2006 02:27 AM UTC
Can anyone suggest where to stay for 2 or 3 nights while in Victoria Falls. We don't need luxury, the most important things are that it is clean, comfortable and in a good location as we won't have a car while we are there.
Thanks

Harare Safety Posted: Tue February 7, 2006 03:53 AM UTC
Hi, I know this question has been asked many times before. My husband and I plan to go to Zimbabwe for a safari in April. We will use Harare as a port of entry and departure. How safe is it to travel to Zimbabwe now? I read in the Zimbabwesituation.com that even the military worries about that riots might occur if the situation will not improve there. Should we postpone our trip until the situation becomes better? I just want to hear some omments from people who have travelled there recently (in the previous month, etc.) or people who know people in Harare. I appreciate your replies. Thanks.

Activities at Vic. Falls Posted: Sun February 5, 2006 04:55 PM UTC
I am planning on going to Vic. Falls in May. I have booked my flights and accomodation. My question is if I should also book activities in advance or is it ok to wait until you get there - things like a flight over the falls, bungee jump (!), crocodile farm etc There are websites selling these activities in advance. Is it wise to book now? Is there a risk there will be long lines when I get there? Does anybody have expereinces of this?

Is May a good time? Posted: Sun January 22, 2006 01:14 PM UTC
We're planning a trip to Cape Town -> Kruger Park -> Victoria Falls. Is early May a good time for the 3? I understand that in summer the spray at Vic Falls can become so thick that it obscures the view. How will it be in May? I'll post this in the other 2 forums. Thanks!

We are taking a packaged safari trip to Kenya and Tanzania arriving and departing from Arusha, Tanzania. We would like to add on a 3 day/4 night extension to Vic Falls and Chobe National Park on our own. Can we fly directly from Arusha to Vic Falls, or must we go to Johannesburg first? Anyone know the appox airfare and/or reputable travel agents we can work with? Thanks!

Flights Livingstone to Nairobi? Posted: Fri September 9, 2005 06:30 AM UTC
Can anyone tell me if there's a direct flight from Livingston to Nairobi?
I hope to do a tour of the Masai Mara/Serengeti in July next year, and would also like to do a trip to Vic Falls (never been to Africa, & figure these are 2 of the must see places).
But I have limited time & funds, & was wondering if it was cheaper (not to mention quicker) to direct from Kenya to the Falls and back.
And while I'm here, does anyone know if flights from Livingstone to Maun are terribly expensive? Would love to do a few days camping in the Okavango... if the budget stretches that far!
Looking forward to some advice :)

Anyone rented a car in Victoria Falls ? Posted: Tue August 23, 2005 07:42 PM UTC
I´m coming to Zimbabwe, Vic Falls with my wife in November. We are going to spend about a week of our honeymoon there. We are wondering now, how we could rent a car (4x4) from there, and drive with it through Zambia to Namibia, Caprivi strip. We already asked about rental cars for example Europ Car and Hertz but... We get two kind of answers; they don´t have 4x4 vehicles or we cannot drive it to Namibia. So... does anyone know is there for example smaller car rental companies or other ways to rent a car ? And.. if we would succeed to rent a car, is it a problem to get gasoline there, and what about the border lines ? Are there any problems, and what papers do we need to cross the borders ? Thanks to you all, who are willing to give us advises !!!

Is it safe to travel to Zimbabwe Posted: Tue August 16, 2005 11:49 AM UTC
My husband and have booked to volunteer at the Gweru Lion Walking park in May 2006. We are concerned about whether it is safe to go due to the political climate. The British Foreign Office is not telling people not to visit but is saying that extreme caution should be exercised. Itis recommended not to travel to the most populated areas. Does anyone know the area around Gweru where the anteleope park is situated and can advise us whether this is a safe place to travel to. My husband is particularly concerned about getting in and out of the country.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi friends,
I have to travel to Bulawayo for business purposes next week.
After making enquiries to the Internet I found the "Rainbow Hotel".
Anybody has been there recently ? What about the two hotel bars which are described in the internet. Any recommendations for a drink after working ?
Many thanks in advance and best regards from Germany
