Hello everybody and Happy New Year!
We are thinking of booking a flyght from Thessaloniki to Cairo and are looking for a parking somewhere near the airport.Can anybody help??The airport parking is a bit pricy - 90 euro for two weeks...
The other option for us is to leave the car in Nea Vrasna (where we have an apartment) and come by bus, but we don't know the timetable of the buses from N.Vrasna to Thessaloniki.We'll have to be at the airport around 6am...Any ideas?

I plan to take two dyas trip to Thessaloniki this spring maybe or sooner, like completely independent traveler. Id like to explore the city and im very curious. I read all comments on VT about accommodation in Thess and came to the conclusion that the hostels is not what i look for, having in mind the coments about "Youth Hostel" so decided that better is to take a single room in some cheap hotel that is not far away from the central attractions. Anything that i should be aware like first time visitor to Thess things like "must see" etc. prices range.

It seems that Alkistis Protopsaltis will be performing at Mylos during the month of November 2007.

My mom, my sister and I are arriving in Thessaloniki at 2:15 am so I am thinking of checking in at the Athina Palace Hotel since it's so close by the airport. My concern however is, how does one travel from the hotel to the center and how many minutes does it take? We are just staying for two nights...Any suggestions or alternatives?

Is the a bus from thessaloniki to ptolemaida daily? If so what are the times, costs and where is the bus depot in relation to the airport? Also can I purchase tickets at the bus station?

I'm trying to find out what is the best method of transportation from Thessaloniki airport to my hotel, which is Hotel Luxembourg. It is supposed to be by the Aristotelous Square. Are there busses/shuttles available. If not, how much do you think the taxi would cost roughly? How far would you say it is?

On another note, does anyone know where I can find a detailed map of Thessaloniki with the street names (hopefully in english, if not, Greek is ok too).

We are a group of 10 who will be in Thessaloniki (waiting to visit the Holy Mountain). Is it unreasonable to take a "side-trip" to Karditsa and Meteora for 4-5 days, then return to Thessaloniki? After we are finished in Thessaloniki we would then go straight on through to Athens and save ourselves time by not having to stop in Karditsa on the way. Anyone have ideas on this?

My girlfriend and I are arriving in Thessaloniki next week and would like to visit 1 or 2 islands as well.We have about a week to spend on the island/s and are looking for something not too touristy/pretty laid back with good beaches.Since we are travelling from Thessaloniki, good ferry connections would be helpful.Thassos, Samothraki,and Chios seem interesting but any feedback/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

hi, we are due to arrive in Thessaloniki on the 7th september and need to get to volos. any body got any idea how much a taxi would be for the 2 of us and our baby. we would get the bus but are in a rush to meet someone and catch a ferry.

I am travelling to Greece in September with my parents and we are wondering how to reach our final destination which is the village of Toroni in Halkidiki (Sithonia) by bus. The KTEL bus company site is under construction so I couldn't get any info concerning the timetable of the bus lines Thessaloniki-Toroni-Thessaloniki. I even don't know where the bus station is located in Thessaloniki!

My girlfriend and I will be arriving in Thessaloniki for 2 weeks at the end of August.We're thinking of using Thessaloniki as a base and perhaps getting to 1 or 2 of the northern islands and or Albania as well..Any ideas about how viable this sounds and any info/advice on the logistics would be greatly appreciated.We are pretty adaptable travellers and don't mind a bit of discomfort:-)

We know it is very difficult to park the car in the city center. Does anybody know parking areas or valet parking in the city? Does not matter if it costs, better than looking around for hours...

If I intend to take the overnight train from Thessaloniki to Istanbul, is there any way to book the tickets in advance? Are the seats for it normally sold out? I intend to travel there at the end of the year and would like to book it so as to confirm my flight home from Istanbul.

Other than Athens, are there any cities in Greece which have a direct flight to Istanbul?
