Hello everyone!


I'm going to spend my vacation in Greece this year, in Afytos (or Afitos, not quite sure, i found both descriptions) and i'm a bit worried, having to arrange everything by myself. I am interested if anyone can help me with an orientating price for a taxi from Thessaloniki train station to Afytos (i have heard it's about 60 euros, 45 minutes drive - i just want to make sure). Also, just for my own peace of mind: do cab drivers talk English? Will i be able to talk to them and explain what i want? Is there a certain taxi company you would recommend?

I am arriving in a couple of weeks to Thessaloniki and then have to head to Florina to attend a wedding. We were told to take a taxi from the airport to the train station to then get to Florina. I am just wondering, what the address of the train station is and if anyone knows the approximate cost of the taxi between the two? I would love to have an idea of the areas of the city that we will be travelling through.

i'm traveling to zakynthos for my holiday, by car. i wanna now what is the best way to reach zakynthos from thessaloniki? how distanced is zakynthos from thessaloniki in km? since i know patra - kilini is 76 km, how distanced is thessaloniki - patra?

Hi all,
i suppose the question is more to local members coz its about driving direction in Thessal.
I was wondering if its possible to do the following route, having in mind that most of roads in Thessal. are 1-way.

by car: starting from white tower i take Megalou Alexandrou blvrd. Then - is i possible to make a left turn and take 3si Septemvriou blvrd?? If i take it i will pass between the Archeological museum/on my left/ and the Byzantine museum/on my right/. Heading on HELEXPO will be on my left, then again I want to make a left turn and take Egnatia, passing by the Uni city.

Is this route possible?? Or i can not make those left turns i need??
Really need this info before i leave for Thessal /in 2 days/ so thanks to all of you that would reply.

I need recommendation for two kind of restaurant in Thessaloniki and Kavala for my Turkish tourist group:

1- A dinner restaurant with traditional live Greek music (preferebly rebetika style)with Greek food, good but not expencive.
2- A reasonable priced good restaurant serving Greek food for lunch, no live music is necessary.
3- Similar restaurant in Kavala for Lunch

Prefer locations in the center but not too much necessary. Ladadika also is ok.

Hello everybody and Happy New Year!
We are thinking of booking a flyght from Thessaloniki to Cairo and are looking for a parking somewhere near the airport.Can anybody help??The airport parking is a bit pricy - 90 euro for two weeks...
The other option for us is to leave the car in Nea Vrasna (where we have an apartment) and come by bus, but we don't know the timetable of the buses from N.Vrasna to Thessaloniki.We'll have to be at the airport around 6am...Any ideas?

I plan to take two dyas trip to Thessaloniki this spring maybe or sooner, like completely independent traveler. Id like to explore the city and im very curious. I read all comments on VT about accommodation in Thess and came to the conclusion that the hostels is not what i look for, having in mind the coments about "Youth Hostel" so decided that better is to take a single room in some cheap hotel that is not far away from the central attractions. Anything that i should be aware like first time visitor to Thess things like "must see" etc. prices range.
