2 days in Tunisia: What to do? Posted: Sat April 25, 2009 08:11 AM UTC
Hi,
I will arrive Carthage on May 1st around 1pm and I will depart from the same city on May 3rd around 1 pm. I am not interested in beach and sun, and I am more interested in history and also desert culture.
What would be the best plan for two days? And what is the best way of transportation?
Thanks in advance.

English Vs Country Tour Posted: Wed April 22, 2009 10:59 AM UTC
I'm a Tunisian student, I'm offering a tour across the country for English speaking people, I want to enhance my pronounciation skills, so if you're a good English speaker, I can show you the main cities of the country against talking with you as much as I can lol!!! (Don't be annoyed lol!)

Are US dollars welcome in Tunisia Posted: Sun April 12, 2009 06:54 PM UTC
In most of the countries I have traveled to in Asia and Africa the people perfer to be tipped in US dollars rather than their own. The folks selling items on the streets also perfer US cash. Is this true of Tunisia?

Transfer from Tunis Airport to Hotel Posted: Sat March 28, 2009 11:15 PM UTC
Hi, I'm a single female and I'll be traveling to Tunisia on 17 April. I'm taking a tour but decided to book my own airfare to Tunis so I'll be on my own making it to my hotel. I'm not a travel newbie but I also don't want to get "taken for a ride". Can anyone tell me what's the best way to get from the airport to the Sheraton?? Can you also provide an approximate cost so I'll know what a taxi should charge?
Thanks!

Tunisia: Desert Clothing and photography? Posted: Tue March 24, 2009 04:54 PM UTC
HellO!
Im going to Tunisia in the middle of april, and spending half my time there going on camel trip into the desert, sleeping in tents and so on. I was wondering what sort of clothing should I bring for this, as I know it can get quite cold during the nights. What sort of shoes is preferable, as I have no clue wether to bring my sandals or my thick sturdy riding / trekking shoes.
I will be travelling by bus from Sousse to Douz, has anyone tried this before? How is the standard of busses in Tunisia. I get very easely motion sick so can imagine Ill need to bring quite the arsenal of tablets for that.
I am also wondering if anyone has any tips to desert landscape photography? Im a hobby photographer with a digital SLR and ive head the desert mornings are awesome to capture.
Thanks for all help!

3 days in Tunisia; interested in culture and the sahara Posted: Sat March 7, 2009 02:20 PM UTC
Hi All,
I have only 3 days to spare for Tunisia. I arrive at 12:50am in wee hours of the morning (Sat, Mar 14) and depart on Mar 17. Photography is my hobby and i'm very interested in sampling good food. So can I have some suggestions please.
I was thinking of hanging around in Tunis (i've booked stay at Tunisia Palace) or skipping that and going to Sousse. For Sunday/Monday I was thinking of heading south to explore and have an overnight stay at Pansea Ksar Ghilane, or similar place that will give me a chance to see the Sahara and explore.
Is that realistic? I have no sense of how long the journey is between these places and don't want to be in a situation where travel back to Tunis for my flight on Tuesday morning will be difficult.
Looking forward to your feedback.
Anna

Walking in Tunisia Posted: Tue March 3, 2009 09:24 PM UTC
Hi!
Am planning a two-week long-distance walk in northern Tunisia. Does anyone know any nice routes / tracks / country roads between Tunis and Tabarka, or anywhere else in the north? I don't need picture-postcard moutain paths - just long-distance routes that avoid the main roads. If anyone has a mind to do something similar, or knows of anywhere nice to stay in rural locations, please let me know.
In case you are curious: since completing the Camino de Santiago walk (800 km in northern Spain) I have realised that there is no activity like walking for: peace of mind, general fitness & wellbeing, and to see and learn about new countries and cultures.
