Tallinn Tips for shopping, little different kind of clothes and dog-products
Posted: Sat September 29, 2007 05:36 PM UTC
We are coming to Tallinn next weekend, and we have only 4-5 hours of"free-time"(it´s a sort of work-trip).We would know,is there a very big petshop near Stockman?Somebody told me that years ago,but I don´t know if it´s still there.
Also if you know some shops where we would find nice clothes. We like gothic-and rock-style,and I would also need something not so radical to work, but anyway like black long skirts and so on.In Finland there are only short skirts in shops now,and I hate them.I would also like to find new leather-handbag.We will have so little time there, that I don´t expect to find all of these, but it would be faster to find something,if we would know where to go.We are staying at hotel Viru, and we must be back there after that free-time,so we can´t go places witch you must go with bus-I think.
I tried many times to find that kind of shops with google, but all shops where only same ones than in Finland( we also buy sometimes from Seppälä and so on,but we have that here too,so why go there..)or then there was shops with very trendy and expensive clothes. And I found only one petshop, witch didn´t seem so big.maybe we´d like to buy something nice for our dogs... ;-)

Tallinn Quickest ferry crossing from Helsinki
Posted: Sun September 9, 2007 10:50 PM UTC
I am look for a quick ferry crossing from Helsinki to get to Tallinn on Saturday 22nd September - ideally leaving around 5pm - What can I expect to pay for such a crossing?

I have a one way ticket for the return leg on Finnair flying from Tallinn to Helsinki to get me directly back to Vantaa - this worked out cheaper than getting a boat from Tallinn to Helsinki and cab on to Vantaa...

I will be visiting Tallinn from August 22-25. If anyone would like to get a VT Meeting together, let me know. I put up a posting in the meeting section too but did not pick a date or place.

This will be our first visit to Tallinn so any suggestions for where to meet would be very helpful!

Thanks,

Tallinn Eating/Drinking
Posted: Sat August 4, 2007 02:39 PM UTC
Hi
I'm on a short day trip from helsinki to tallin later this month.
Linda line..fast as I don't have much time..
Read the reviews of what to see.And where to eat/drink !
Want some advice now as I have read conflicting reviews on Olde Hansa
and Peppersack. The building (old medieval) at the latter is apparently great but the service and food is apparently better at the former(OHansa).
Also any suggestions for food, nothing exotic like boar/elk, ? And naturally the beer ?
Thanks

I am planning a trip to the Baltics at the end of August. I was wondering how many days were recommended to spend in Tallinn? What are the top sites/ day trips? Any recommendations on places to stay etc...

What is the cheapest way to get to Riga? I know Eurolines has some decent deals on the bus, any other options??

Any tips would be appreciated!

Tallinn What's worth visiting besides Tallinn
Posted: Wed July 4, 2007 11:51 PM UTC
After getting some feedback about the itinerary I initially thought for my summer trip to the baltics, I realized spending 4 days in Pärnu is not the best option. So, what's worth visiting in Estonia?I should have about 2 or 3 days after Tallinn and before Latvia. Thanks

Tallinn best time for visit
Posted: Sun June 24, 2007 07:36 AM UTC
Im after some local knowledge - my wife and I (late 40's to early 50's) are planning a trip to Estonia with a few days in Tallinn and then another 4 to 6 days to explore (probably with a hire car) Were aussies so we haven't really experienced a cold winter (ours is normally 5 to 15 degree extremes) so we're asking what is the best time to visit ? Winter with cold and snow but no tourist crowds, summer with the best potential weather but large tourist numbers, spring or autumn with the change in seasons ? Were leaning towards end of August / early Sept but if there are better options we'd appreciate any advice? Thanks !

Tallinn Getting about in Tallinn
Posted: Wed June 13, 2007 01:00 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm travelling to Tallinn this weekend, having a look around the old town, then travelling on from the passenger ferry to Helsinki - the weekend after I have the reverse trip including a night stay in a Hotel (trying to book Hotel G9).

The question I have is how easy is it to get around on foot (walking) or bus?

I don't particularly like taking Taxis as I always think I'm getting ripped off (no offense to any honest hard working Taxi drivers out there!).

I've got plenty of time between arriving on the plane, and taking the Ferry, so I don't mind taking a stroll.

Cheers
Dave

Tallinn Renting an apartment in Tallinn
Posted: Sat May 26, 2007 08:02 PM UTC
I'll be coming to Tallinn the weekend of July 20 with 2-3 friends. We'd like to rent an apartment. What's the most convenient area to stay in order of our priorities...#1 nightlife and #2 culture for checking out the tourist sites. Safety is of course a concern as well if that's even an issue there.

I'm thinking of having a weekend break in September, is this a good time to go weather wise. Also are the pubs, sights nightlife etc all within walking distance, and finally are costs the same as eastern europe or is it the same as western europe..

Tallinn Estonian-Russian relations
Posted: Mon May 7, 2007 09:39 AM UTC
Hello,
My family and I will visit Tallinn for the first time in early July and have been really looking forward to it. However, I was dismayed to note the trouble caused by the recent removal of the monument dedicated to the Soviet Union as well as the soldiers' graves. My question is, do Tallinn residents see the situation as likely to improve in the near future?
best wishes,

My friends and I are considering visiting sometime in July. What's it like there in July?...weather?...crowded?...holidays we should know about when things will be closed? Any big festivals/parties we don't want to miss? We're just playing it by ear so we're looking for any helpful advice! We want to have fun at night and explore some culture during the day...well and at night too of course, just a different kind of culture!

Tallinn Tallinn Day Trips - recommendations
Posted: Wed March 28, 2007 01:37 PM UTC
We're going to Tallinn this summer and have been looking at interesting places to visit outside the city. We reckon we will have 2 days to visit out of the city. We are torn between visiting Naissaar island, Lahemma (taking bikes) and Paldiski by train for the soviet bases.
Any other ideas welcome - does anyboby have any recommendations on what you think might be the best use of our time (we have planned for 3 and a half days in Tallinn but want to get an idea of the surrounding areas as well).
Thanks x
