Brno Any good bars and clubs you can recomend?
Posted: Tue April 25, 2006 12:59 PM UTC
Hi there,

Me and a few mates will be staying in Brno in May for my stag weekend. I was hoping that someone could suggest any good bars and clubs for us to visit (sports bar for the FA cup final on the sat and bars/clubs with scantily clad ladies in for the evenings - you know what i mean). Also if there is anything else we could do that you could recomend i would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance, dave.

Does anyone remember the Sputnik self service restaurant that used to be in the corner of Svobody Namest?

Someone must, it can't be a figment of my imagination!

Brno Getting around Brno
Posted: Mon November 21, 2005 07:58 AM UTC
Hi everyone. I'm going to Brno for celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Austerlitz battle. My first option is to rent a car for getting to places around Brno where the actual events will happen (Tvarozna, Rousinov, Prace...). But I also would like to explore other options (bus, train). Is there any altenative way to getting around Brno, like local buses, etc.? I would be extremely grateful for any hints.

Brno Ideas on a trip to Brno.
Posted: Thu November 17, 2005 08:12 PM UTC
I am looking at places to visit for a mixed group of friends in May 2006. Brno has been suggested by one of the group as somewhere nice to visit. I've checked out some of the websites for places to see, accommodation, things to do, food and nightlife, however, I would appreciate any comments from those of you who have visited or live there. Your thoughts on whether a group of friends would have a good weekend, with enough to see, with good restaurants and nightlife to keep singles and couples interested. We did the Prague trip many years ago (excellent), and more recently (not so excellent), and wondered if you could share your experiences. Good for a group of us or not? Thanks

Brno City Guide
Posted: Tue August 30, 2005 03:29 PM UTC
We're coming to Brno for a long weekend in October. It would be nice to have an english speaking guide show us around Brno while we're there. Would a guide for one day be long enough? Where would be the best place to seek the services of a guide - our hotel or the tourist office?

Many thanks.

Brno Boby Hotel?
Posted: Fri August 26, 2005 01:07 PM UTC
I will be going to Brno in October 2005.
I have looked at the Boby Hotel, but I think it is a long way away from the fair-ground, where I will be going.
But if the hotel is nice I can live with that. Somebody told me, it was next to a major shopping centre, is that right?
Is it near skating rings and what else is there?

I like a 4 star hotel, any other suggestions?

And can anyone suggest some sightseeing places in Brno?

Thanks....

Brno travelling to and from Brno
Posted: Sun July 3, 2005 01:58 AM UTC
I will be travelling from Krakow. I am trying to find out if it is quicker in travel times to go krakow-brno-prague or krakow-prague-brno. I have not been able to find a web site offering bus or train times and costs that I can understand ie. in English. does anyone have any advice on this or where I can find information? I also would like to fit in cesky budjevice as well. any advice is welcome!!!

Ps. does anyone have any thoughts on hiring a car and doing this kind of journey? I will be there in winter and have been told that it may be too difficult to drive in that kind of weather?

thankyou

Brno Hotel advice please
Posted: Wed June 22, 2005 01:27 PM UTC
I am organising a trip for 20 people to Brno for next year. I need a hotel big enough to accommodate us all and ideally centrally located for the city. I am currently thinking about the Grandhotel or the International. There is one review for the Grand which is a bit mixed, there aren't any reviews for the Interantional.

Does anyone have any experience of either of these hotels or recommendations for any other large, centrally located, hotels?

Thanks

Brno VT Mini-Meetup in Brno
Posted: Fri April 29, 2005 01:53 PM UTC
My girlfriend and I just arrived in Brno from Budapest. We are enjoying the great weather in this pleasantly green city. It seems to me, to be somewhat of an "undiscovered gem", at least amongst westerners.

At present, we are struggling to find an apartment - without being ripped off as the "rich foreigner". Already, we have met a few locals that are very generous and helpful in this endeavor.

If there are any VT'ers that would like to have a mini-meeting here, we are willing. We had a very nice evening meet-up with fellow VT'ers, Shirez and MedioLatino in Budapest. It would be nice to carry on the tradition here as well!

Brno Driver or Guide/Driver and Taxi Question
Posted: Sat April 9, 2005 02:27 PM UTC
I hope someone can help me. I would like to see some of the small towns in Moravia. Since I do not want to drive, I need an English-speaking driver or guide/driver for a few days. I know the answer to this question might be obvious, but I thought I would ask it just in case: Is there a taxi service in Telc? Thanks for your help.

Brno football tour in brno is it a good idea ??
Posted: Fri February 18, 2005 02:04 PM UTC
We are trying to organise our football tour in may and have seen the flights through one of the cheap carriers.

There will be about 18 of us and to be honest we are all a nice bunch of guys. However as i state this is a football tour and therefore would involve a fair amount of partying and probably some other jovial going ons.

We were ideally going to Prague but due to our tardiness the flight prices went through the roof.
Is there any similarity between the Prague and Brno (ie clubs strip shows etc)

If anyone could advise if Brno would be good for a football tour and what there is for us to do in the surrounding areas ( sight seeing not one of them to be honest) such as go karting paint balling any other kind of extreme sports would be greatly appreciatedand what the weather would be like at the end of may

Also if anyone knows of a team who would like to play a game whilst we are out there would be excellent. We are a fairly decent non league team all honest and fair players and have won the fair play trophy (least amount of yellow or red cards in the leagues) before.

Our age group is mainly around 30-33.

Thanks in advance

Brno Getting a train Budapest-Brno...?
Posted: Tue March 2, 2004 12:43 AM UTC
Hi,

Me n my gf will be going to Brno from Budapest on 2nd April morning.

As i will be in Czech before going to Budapest, and i heard it's cheaper to buy train ticket in Czech, so is it possible for me to buy a one-way Budapest-Brno ticket in Prague?

If not, where is the cheapest place to buy train tickets in Budapest? (I have student ISIC card)

Do i need to get the train ticket weeks in advance or just a few days earlier will do?

Thanks..

Charles.
