Will be in Dubrovnik for about 8hrs on next Sunday... do plan to visit the city walls/old town by taking the bus into town from the port as directed by other forum members.
I came across some forum where people were raving about a visit to the Srdj hill... I hear the road up the hill is quite steep. I am guessing a taxi is the only safe option and how much would it cost from the old town and back to the cruise port?
Ploce is at the end of the railway line from Bosnia, and would be a good spot for an overnight stop.I cant find much information, one guide book is not very complimentary. Any VT ers with comments. Thanks.
I Heard a legend about the Franciscan Church in Dubrovnik, that it has been built in accordance with the wishes of St. Francis himself who earlier sailed
along the Adriatic Coast and his ship has been destroyed by the storm, was saved, and he spent the night (or sometime) in Dubrovnik.
Hi all, I just wanted to know what are the options of getting to Dubrovnik from Spit.
Which would be the most economical?
Which would be the fastest and also, the slowest (trying to avoid the slow one, if it takes too long).
From the station (bus or train), is it easy to get to the Old Town?
I've read about Villa Flora and Bokun as recommended as some of the affordable places to stay in Dubrovnik (40Euros per night). Can anyone else recommend a place within the same range (just in case both are already full). Somewhere in the Old Town would be perfect.
25/26 september we will stay at dubrovnik with my wife but I couldn't understand is it better to be near the old town or near a beach ? We have a car and will it be problem to park in old town ? are beaches nice in dubrovnik or its more old town visiting ? We have just 2 days in Dubrovnik is it enough ?
Thanks for your answers

We will rent a car from Zagrep and we will go down to Dubrovnik by car. I have four questions :
1/Do I have time to visit İstria region ?
2/What are the cities that I shouldn't miss for my first trip in Croatia ?
3/Which are the cities or island that I have to spend more than one day ?
4/Can I take my car to the islands like Korcula and Hvar ?
Finally I ask to people who know croatia well if you were for the first time in Croatia how you would orgonize your 8 days trip from Zagreb to Dubrovnik ?
I didin't reserve any hotel my trip is it a problem can I find places and better prices by walking in the places ?
I am contemplating whether I should get bus tickets to go from Dubrovnik to Brela or rent a car locally?
I've read some reviews from other members that were not very favorable to car-rentals companies in Croatia. Nevertheless, I would like to have some flexability once I get to Brela, so I can explore the coast further.
Any suggetions on rental companies in Dubrovnik? And should I purchase the extra insurance policy offered at the stores - i.e., collision+theft insurances? Are they really necessary in Dubrovnik? And how much should be the premium?
Thank you for your help.

Could someone tell me how long does it take a trip from Dubrovnik to Brela, in the Markarska Riviera, by bus?
Where can I take the bus in Dubrovnik and how often does it run?
Will be traveling to Brela on September 22.
Any information on this matter is welcome.
Thanks for your help.
Hello there! I am visiting Dubrovnik in October for 5 days and if possible, would like to do a day trip to Sarajevo. Does anyone know whether this is possible? I know there are buses departing from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo daily at 07h30 and that the bus trip is about 6 hours. Does anyone know what time buses depart Sarajevo for Dubrovnik & whether there is more than one departure per day? Alternately, are there any tour operators who offer a day trip to Sarajevo. About 7 years ago I did a trip from Dubrovnik to Mostar, but never made it as far as Sarajevo & really hope to make it this time. Any advice & suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks :o)
I see someone asked about transportation between Cavtat and Dubrovnik.
Can you advise please how long does it take by bus and by ferry, and, how much is the bus/ferry ticket?
Would like to know what currency (euro or croatian kuna) is preferred in the area?
Also recommendations for a couple of day trips out. We are staying in Cavtat 20th September for a week and will visit Dubrovnik a couple of times I think. But would also like a couple of day excursions too.
How often do the buses run between Cavtat and Dunbrovnik?
Im visiting Korcula town for 1 night and I was going to stay at One Love until I discovered the age restrictions!! (Im too old!!)
Where can I find a CHEAP (must be cheap) hostel/hotel in or very near to Korcula town for 1 person for 1 night. I dont need anything upmarket, just clean and easy to access the town and CHEAP (under £30 for the night?) Anyone know of anything?? Im stuck!!
My boyfriend and I are heading to Dubrovnik and are looking for a cool apartment with sea view and balcony or outdoor space within 30 minutes of old town. We really love boutique style hotels so if anyone has stayed in a similar style apartment it would be fab if you could let me know or of the best links to look at booking somewhere for September.

I am Greek and I will visit DUBROVNIK on Sunday 9th of August for a week. By the fact that I will be alone(I am a single man 32 years old) , I would like to find out, which outings in DUBROVNIK are suitable for a single male. At least I want to have fun and enjoy my vacation and be surrounded by some attractive girls!
I am open for any thing.... such as: restaurants, pubs discos, pool bars, beach parties, night clubs, live music, dating, parties, swimming, chatting, love boat parties, school parties etc.... hopefully I will find the woman of my life!!!!!!
Hi, I will be flying to Dubrovnik Airport on Sunday 9th August, and will be looking to reach Budva for a weeks holiday before returning to Dubrovnik Airport on the Sunday 16th August.
Please could anyone advise on the travel links? I was under the impression there were regular bus journeys between Dubrovnik and Budva, but now it appears they are not as regular, and possibly not running at all on Sunday. Would there be any trains / buses running from either the airport, Cavtat, or Dubrovnik to Budva on the Sunday? And returning the following Sunday?
If so, should we book ahead?
Many thanks for any help.
For information, our plane arrives at Dubrovnik airport at 17:00, so we are hard pushed to get to Budva. The return departs the airport at 18:00 so more time on the 2nd Sunday to get back to the airport.

i and a close friend (2 girls) are goin to dubrovnik for 1 week.
i am sure about the great view, foods and the sea...
but we couldn't learn enough about the nightlife.
do you have any recommendations?
(may be we may pass to split or hvar. also any information about split clubs will be grateful)

Can anybody recommend the travelling from airport to the Grand Villa Hotel Argentina. Understood we should take an Atlas bus to the city center, but can not imagine further way using public transport.
Will it be expensive to take a taxi?
In September, my friends are planning to take a Holland American line with following excursions. It seems the cruiseline arranged tours are filled, can anyone recommend good/reliable day tour (that could take you from the dock, tour and back to dock?).
The place interested is Dubrovnik. We know the dock is not too far from the walled historic town. It would be a 30 minutes walk but a short taxi ride (10 minutes?). Is there any good day tour company picking them up from the cruise ship, have a tour of Dubrovnik etc then take them back to the cruise ship? How much would this cost?
If you have any day tour company recommendation for places below also, it would be very helpful:
The places are:
- Athens (from dock Pireas)
- Corfu
- Katakolon
have you rented a car from CarTrawler website? I find prices very reasonable, but I wonder if is it a reliable website. I'll be picking up the car from Dubrovnik airport, all suggestions will be welcome, thank you in advance
We're going to Orebic beginning of September. Can you tell us what transportation you would recommend once we're there. would you hire a car (and if so is it expensive?) or do they have a local bus or anything else. My husband isn't that good at walking great distances as he suffers with a bad back so just wondering what you'd recommend. Also, is it going to be hot? (I hope so) thanks for the help
I'm looking for help to find a cheap flight from Athens to Dubrovnik. I've searched countless airlines, tried connections through other cities around Europe and the only thing I find is that there are no direct flights and flights connecting through other cities are expensive. I don't have the time to travel by ferry of train. Does anyone have any suggestions on this?
What sites are recommended for Dubrovnik? We will be spending one full day there in a few weeks, coming off a cruise ship. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
I am wondering if there is anyone out there who might be interested in a travel companion for Montenegro in August?
Montenegro is a perfect compact country for nature lovers and for hiking.
If we'll be 2-4 people we can rent a car. Anyway I'm flexible, hitch-hiking is an option.
Locals' companion is more than welcomed.
