Dear friends,
I found very interesting itinerary near lake Victoria offered by "Faith Tours & safaris". Does anybody know this tour operator? What is your opinion about them?
Hi. My girlfriend and I are looking into flying into Nairobi and going on safari from there to Serengeti and Ngorongoro finishing up in Arusha. We'll be then flying from Arusha to Zanzibar. A lot of the safaris seem to go straight from Nairobi to Arusha. Does anyone know of any safaris that go from Nairobi direct to Serengeti? We can also fly into Mt Kilamanjaro but it will cost us an extra $500 compared to Nairobi. Any advice is appreciated.
Hi,
I am planning a month long trip to Tanzania arriving on Dec 25th 2009. I would like to take in Zanzibar, Ngorogoro, Serengeti, Kilimanjaro (maybe the hike, maybe not), Arusha National Park and anything else recommended.
I intend to spend the first night or two in Dar es Salaam, can anyone recommend and Hostel/Guesthouse/Hotel? Also, what is the best way to get to Zanzibar from the mainland?
Hi. Myself & my girlfriend are planning a trip to Tanzania for the first 3 weeks of January. We'd like to spend most of the time on Zanzibar and a few days going on a cool safari. Can anyone recommend a particular park or reputable safari operator that won't break the bank? Thanks a million.
I have a last minute opportunity to go to Arusha in hopes of going on a mid-range safari to Serengeti and Ngorongoro for about a week or some decent amount of time. I will be there next week, and wonder if I am too late to get a place on a good safari since it is so close to the time of the safari.
We are planing vocation for 2 weeks around X-mas- New Year with a baby , who will be 4 month old at that time.
Is it safe to go to Zanzibar with such a small baby?
Please, advice.

I want to buy a car imported from Japan on the docks of Dar es Salaam, register it in my name, and drive it into Zambia as my own car. Does anyone know if this is possible?
I am just moving to Zambia and have 6 months to bring in my own possessions duty free. The duty for all cars imported to Zambia is outrageously 50% of the value of the rig. So if I bring a car that is obviously an import i will pay thru the nose. If it looks and smells like my own, then it is free. Does anyone know how to do this?
We are two students from Umeå in Sweden. We are going to Tanzania for 8 weeks, arrival 12th of november 2009. We will spend the first two weeks in Dar es Salaam and are trying to fine a place to stay for these weeks. Do anyone have some advice on where and how we can find a room or an apartment?
If you, or anyone you know, have an extra room for rent we would love to talk to you or them about that.
We're a recently retired couple looking for a couple to join us on a private safari in Tanzania Feb 2-14,2010. The safari is all arranged with an experienced and reliable outfitter in the US. It is delux, all lodges, and includes Arusha, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangeri, etc. I can provide a link to the outfitters website listing all the details. The safari was originally planned with another couple, but they are now unable to make it. We are experienced travellers and have been on safari before in South Africa and Botswana. Now we're gonna do the Serengeti. Come join us!
Dear Virtual Tourists,
We are trying to plan our Honeymoon in Tanzania. We will be flying into Dar Es Salaam airport and wish to do Safari including Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and perhaps cross over to visit the Masaai Mara. Where should we look for the safari package and is there somewhere else we should visit in this area.
AFter ten days or so for the safari we wish to then go to Zanzibar for approx a week to relax at the beach resorts. Again, any suggestions to find accommodation here?
Thank you in advance.
I've been seraching the web for details of shuttle buses/transport from kili airport-arusha as my boyfriend and i will be arriving on ethiopian airlines flight about midday on 17th Oct ober and want to head to Arusha to organise/sort out safari...any tips/info/recommendations as I've drawn a blank so far.
Do the Nairobi-kilimanjaro shuttles go via the airport?

Anyone know or have a rough idea of how much the domestic flights with precision air or air excel are from dar-arusha, arusha-zanzibar, zanzibar-dar? I'm trying to book some flights for me and my boyfriend before we get there, but the websites don't seem to have prices. Also if you buy at the agents in Tanzania, does it still have to be 40hours prior to departure? Also do they still fly in the low season (i.e. between 16th-31st October...when we'll be there!)?
Fellow travelers, my boyfriend and I are heading to Tanzania for a week and hoping to take in a safari whilst there before heading to zanzibar for the second week of our holiday. Would you agree that it is cheaper and eay enough to fly to Nairobi and get the shuttle bus to Arusha to head for the Serengetti and other parks that way?
There was one comment about taking in the Masaai Mara tribes en route, which would be amazing, but will this eat up our time rather that the direct nairobi-arusha link?
Also, we are heading there in the last 2 weeks of October this year, any tips on which areas of the park are best for spotting the Big 5/main animal groups at this time of year.
I'd like to hear from folks who have already climbed the Western Breach or the Shira/Lemosho Route because I am in a dilemma about which route to use because of all the contradictory information out there.
I know the bad rap that the Western Breach got because of the 3 Americans who were killed 3 years ago as well as the rock slippage that has happened recently.
However, the Western Breach acclimatization process on a daily basis seems to be more practical than the Shira Lemosho route, and the final ascent seems to be less daunting than the Shira/Lemosho route and the Western Breach seem sto be really amazing in terms of views and finally, the distances you walk each day on the Western Breach route are much less than the Shira/Lemoshor route.
On the other hand, the Western Breach may require more rock scrambling than the Shira/Lemosho and may have more risk involved due to rock slippage.
So, any suggestions on which route to take.
Things to consider: I am NOT a professional climber, hiker or trekker. I have been to Peru, Bolivia and Tibet before with minimal altitude sickness issues. I am not a sporty guy, do not really work out, but am not overweight (average build) and have good energy for what I want to do.
I am really in a dilemma because each company poo-poos the Western breach route here in USA, but many other companies say there is a higher success rate tha the Shira/Lemosho route because of better acclimitization process (not major asecnts any day.
I am going to be spending a month on Zanzibar. I will be taking with me an amount of US dollars but can't decide whether to take the rest in travellers cheques or is it ok to use ATMs to draw out local currency? I don't get charged by my provider for bank withdrawals abroad.
Does anyone know which will be the most efficient method?
As I am planning to make the climb to the top of Kilimanjaro in late June early July 2010, I know that it can get quite cold up there so good camping gear is important. Moreover, I am sure that different tour companies use different gear. What do you feel is the best quality.
People have told me to climb Killimanjaro use Face VE25 tents as your mountain sleeping tents or Mt. Hardwear Trango . And for small mess tent use Mt. Hardwear Satellite. So they say use very good gear and make sure guides are all trained in first aid, etc. Also that they will use filter for water or bottled water and the cooks have many years of experience.
I am travelling to Tanzania from July 1-19,2010 and have settled on the itinerary below but would love your opinion on anything (hotels, sites, etc.). I have been to Africa and been on safaris before so that is not the major focus of my trip -- looking for more cultural things.
Here it is; Don't hold back on any comments, suggestions, etc. Also, if you know the name of a very reputable and NOT overpriced tour operator in Tanzania, please let me know. Thanks.

I can travel to zanibar for three weeks, my window is mid-October through mid-December. Can anyone tell me from experience if I'm better off arriving in mid October and staying through the first half of November, or the second half of November through the first half of December? Thanks for any advice!
Is it necessary to show a yellow fever vaccination certificate when arriving in Tanzania from the UK?
I am vaccinated I just can't find my certificate and don't want to have to get one reissued if I'm not going to need it.
Also, is it still ok to obtain a vias upon arrival? I'm quite soon and don't trust the post at the moment (strikes!).
I am planning on going on safari in Tanzania in early June (June 6-16)2010. What weather can I expect? Any rain? Chilly nights? Is this an OK time to see the wildlife? Is it past the rainy season? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
