Coach from Rijeka to Karlovac -- advance ticket purchase necessary? Posted: Wed April 9, 2008 06:26 PM UTC
My wife and I intend to travel by coach from Rijeka to Plitvicka Jezera N. P. on a Wednesday late in May (changing buses in Karlovac). The online timetable shows four buses leaving Rijeka for Karlovac between 10:00 and 13:00, any of which would be OK for our purpose.
My question is this: taking into consideration the time of year, the day of the week, and the time of day, would it be necessary for us to buy tickets a day or two in advance? Guidebooks advise doing this in the high season, but I think the high season begins somewhat later than the last week in May. I'm not sure of this, however, so I would appreciate hearing from someone who knows.
We *could* buy the tickets when we arrive from Ljubljana on the preceding Monday, but it will be rather late in the day and we will be looking for a No. 32 bus to Lovran. Going to the coach station first would complicate matters a good deal for two people carrying luggage who are far from young.
Thanks for any helpful information you can provide.

My wife and I will be traveling in Croatia in 10 days! We were wondering if it is possible to get from Zagreb to Plitvice National Park (we are staying at the Hotel Jezero) and then from Plitvice National Park to Split by bus. We really do not want to rent a car. Any help is much appreciated! Hvala!

Between Koper, Slovenia and Rijeka, Croatia Posted: Wed December 26, 2007 01:15 PM UTC
Hi there,
Am looking for a best way on public transport to get from Koper to Rijeka, hopefully spending as little time as possible travelling. Is there a direct bus route between the two towns, or do I have to change in Triste, Italy or Ljubjana, Slovenia?
Much help is appreciated. Thanks!

staying in Krk town Posted: Thu August 16, 2007 08:51 AM UTC
Hi, im due to travel to krk at the beginning on September with a friend. I've been to Dubrovnik before and we got accomodation when arriving at the bus stop. Is it similar when you arrive to the krk bus station, with locals offering their apartments for rent? Or should we book something before we travel?

Split-Paklenica-Plitvice-Rovinj Posted: Mon August 6, 2007 09:52 AM UTC
My husband and I are hoping to this in the space of 4 days, departing Split on Sunday and arriving in Rovinj on Wednesday,(short, I know) in September. We could rent a car as a last resort but would prefer buses/trains/local public transport. We would be grateful for any tips on routes and bus companies-especially the Paklenica-Plitvice and Plitvice-Rovinj sections.
Sounds like a wonderful country and can't wait to visit. Thanks in advance.

Getting from Rab to Rijeka Airport Posted: Wed August 1, 2007 09:12 AM UTC
Hi
My family are looking at going to Rab for a week but we need to know that we can get from Rab back to Rijeka airport for a flight at 11:25am...therefore probably needing to be at the airport for 9-ish to drop off the hire car and check in. How long does it take to make that journey and do boats/catamarans run at that time of the morning?
Thanks - Matthew

senior tourists Posted: Tue July 31, 2007 07:37 PM UTC
I'm going to travel to Croatia and see Plitvicka with my children and my mother by the end of August. She is a senior citizen (77y.o.)and cannot walk a lot.
Is this trip feasable for her?
does someone have ideas about how she can enjoy the place without having to climb many stairs?
isn`t tere a better alternative for her but for staing near the car while we hike?

Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes National Park Posted: Tue July 31, 2007 04:20 PM UTC
Hi all,
I will be in Zagreb and wish to go to Plitvice Lakes National Park.
I have inquired with many local tourist companies and many offer a full day trip leaving about 7-8am and returning in the evening for about 50 euro.
I understand there are also buses from Zagreb to Plitvice to go on your own. As I will be traveling alone and do not know the park well at all. Do you recommend taking the guided tour with a guide or going alone by public. I generally prefer to travel alone but I am thinking the park is so large and I only have one day that a guide may be best to show me the best places. What do you think??
Thanks all,
Mike

4 friends travelling to Croatia Posted: Sun July 29, 2007 08:39 AM UTC
Hi guys! I really hope this forum can help me out and give me some good advice about staying in Croatia. I'm going with 3 friends of mine to Istria for 12 days. Our goal is to travel around with tent along the coastline. Enjoying the view, snorkling and try to visit towns like Pula, Umag, Porec and such. Or there things i really should visit in Istria?
And my second question, the more interesting to me, is: I've read about Croatia a lot and it seems that the lakes in Plitvice are really a must. I wander if we could go by bus from Rijeka to Plitvice? Which bus company should we use then (I tried Autotrans, but it says they don't have connections from Rijeka to Plitvice in September) ? And is it possible to stay overnight in Plitvice, like on camp sites and such? Or is going to Plitvice just too far away from the peninsula of Istria and not really a good idea to do?
Thnx a lot in advance!

Getting to Plitvicka from Istria Posted: Mon July 9, 2007 11:04 PM UTC
Hi-
I'm traveling to Croatia this September and was wondering which is the best way to get to Plitvicka National Park from Pula or Rijeka. Is there a bus that goes there directly or would it be easier to rent a car?

Travelling south-east from Rijeka, scooter/bicycle rent Posted: Fri June 22, 2007 07:13 AM UTC
Hello world!
We're arriving to Rijeka by train and then want to move to a smaller resort or travel a bit. Me frined told me the most picturesque places are to the south-east (Novi Vinodolski, etc). We can reach those places by bus, or maybe rent scooters - please tell me, how much does it cost? is it possible to rent a scooter in once city and then leave it at the office of the same company in another place?
and what about cheap accomodation for students? we only need a clean place to sleep, so any hostels or private apartments/rooms would fit. Is it possible to rent something without pre-oredering in August? (like, drive along the beach and find a plce to stay)?
Maybe some advice about places to stay and have fun - not a pensioners' resort, i mean :)
thanks in advance!

Travel by bus along Adriatic Coast to Plitvice and continuing to Pula/Porec Posted: Wed May 16, 2007 06:26 PM UTC
I begin my visit to Croatia in September, arriving from Dublin into Dubrovnik for 4 nights. Then on to Split by bus for 2 nights and might take a day tour. Then plan going on to Plitvice National Park either on escorted tour or by bus if its possible. I will then need to get from Plitive or nearest point by bus or ferry to Pula and need guidance on the best route for this part of journey, and maybe suggestions for overnight stops for next 3 nights before reaching Pula. Might spend a night Porec if close enough. I will look for private accommodation but have booked hotel in Pula to be near the airport for return to Dublin. Thank you.

Rijeka to Rovinj on a weekend Posted: Sun May 13, 2007 01:54 AM UTC
Hi,
Could anyone tell me how easy it is to get from Rijeka to Rovinj on a Saturday, or, preferably, a Sunday via bus? Someone gave me a link to a bus timetable site, but the HTML seems messed up with that site: everything's in symbols, most of them Chinese, right now (?).
Thanks!
