| Prague | extra day in prague Posted: Sun April 27, 2008 04:20 PM UTC
I am going to prague on 12th may 2008 till 20 th may 2008. Will be attending two days of conference. The rest of the time free to travel. Plan to spend 1 night in cesky krumlov and 1 day in karlstein, krivolat and maybe Kanopostie. Which leaves about 4-5 days in prague. Should I spend a day in dresden, karlovy vary, Plzen or kutna Hora. Or should I just spend it in prague itself?
Many thanks. |

| Prague | Room with a View and a Terrace or Balcony Posted: Fri April 25, 2008 07:14 PM UTC
I've looked through the hotel reviews but can't find what I'd like. Can anyone tell me if there is a hotel somewhere near the Prague Castle that has rooms with a view of the city and those rooms have either a terrace or a balcony large enough for 2 to sit out on?? Alternatively, if the hotel has a terrace open to all guests where you don't have to order drinks or meals. Quiet rooms are also a necessity. I am looking in the price range of around 300-350 Euros a night. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

| Prague | time spent between Prague & Budapest? Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 02:14 AM UTC
I have 11 days between arriving in Prague, and flying out of Budapest. How much time do you suggest in each place? Also debating stopping for a day or two between, like in Bratislavia, Slovakia. I would love any recs for budget accomodations in good locations as well as recs for areas or town to stay in as well as avoid. Also, how much is the train between the two? It was cheaper to fly from Nice to Prague - wondering if it will be the same to go from PRG-BUD. Thanks!

| Prague | Parking in Prague Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 02:49 AM UTC
We will be coming from Frankfurt about December 10 to visit Prague for 3 days. We'd like to stay right in the centre of town and likely our hotel will not have parking. We have heard there is lots of theft of cars in Prague and so I'm a bit concerned about leaving a rental car. Can someone tell me about parking in the centre of the town and how concerned we should be about theft ? Is there secure parking anywhere ? I really am looking forward to our visit.
Hey how will the weather be about then ? Thanks for your help. |

| Prague | Prague - Prague by Night Boat Trip Comments? Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 12:26 PM UTC
Planning a 3 day trip at the beginning of May to Prague. The Prague by Night boat trip looks interesting. Anybody have any experience of these trips? I have been reading about one trip which includes dancing and another which is on a smaller (?) boat which has music and food with hotel collection and delivery. I would appreciate any helpful comments. Thank you.

| Prague | Suggestion For Hotel Outside of Prague Posted: Thu April 17, 2008 05:25 PM UTC
This is a repeat of an earlier request. I got an excellent suggestion but, alas, that hotel was booked. So I'm trying again. The name of the booked hotel was Hotel Cernosice.
I am going to be visiting Prague for three days in May. I am traveling with my 65-year-old father, a stroke survivor. He does not do well reacting to noise or a bustling environment (and we'll have a car) so I thought it might be a good idea to stay in a small town near Prague and take a local train into the city center each day. Can anyone recommend a nice place to stay within, say, a 40-minute train ride into the city? Stashing the car is also a big part of it; I don't want to drive in Prague if I can help it. Thanks, Will |

| Prague | Food Budget for Prague Posted: Thu April 17, 2008 05:07 AM UTC
Hi there,
Can anyone tell me or give me a rough idea of how much to budget for eating out in Prague? As a rough guide for lunch just a sandwich/crepe from a cheap cafe or street vendor, and for dinner the cheapest kind of restaurant you can get, pizza places etc? For instance backpackers going through Europe, how much would you budget for per day on food? Thanks in advance, Isabel :o) |

| Prague | Prague to Krakow Posted: Wed April 16, 2008 09:34 PM UTC
I am traveling to Krakow from Prague and want to go on an overnight train, preferably one that is non stop. I have heard that it is cheap to go to the border and then switch trains to your destination. Is that true? Should I book a ticket now or wait till I get to Prague?

Hello, I need help to trace rail schedule/fare in Czech.
For instance, when I check info for Praha to wien, it is easy to locate the schedule. But in the price page, I don't know how to interprete the price as it indicated that it is "133kc incomplete"? Thanks. http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz/ConnRes.asp?tt=a&p= |

| Prague | Prague tours Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 12:07 PM UTC
Hello,
I normally do not take tours, but I will be in prague for 5-6 days total so I thought it might be a good idea to learn more about the history and surroundings. I am looking into tours in and around Prague. I was thinking of one to go out of the city, possibly to Kutna Hora or Karlovy Vary. And, possibly another walking tour if it's really worth it. Has anyone ever had any good or bad experiences with a particular tour/ operator? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot! |

| Prague | Train connection Posted: Sat April 5, 2008 06:08 AM UTC
Taking the cue from GyuriFT, we are taking a train from Prague ( on a friday end of April) and detrain at Bratislava to pick up some real-deal tickets to continue the journey to Budapest.
I am afraid that if the earlier trains from Prague are full and we arrive late at Bratislava, we won't be able to get onto a train to Budapest, since it is weekend. How likely for that to happen? Is there something that i should do to avoid getting into difficulties ? Secondly, are the train tickets valid on all trains or just specific ones ? Thank you for your help. JH |

| Prague | Budget Accommodation Posted: Wed April 2, 2008 09:13 AM UTC
Have went through a lot of hostels, a private room for two costs at least 50euro. I believe the same price is good enough to stay in a hotel as well? Any hotel/hostel around the price could you recommend? The euro is 20% higher than the time I started planning for this trip.  I am okay with mix-dorm but my friend has never done that. Thanks.

| Prague | Bicycle rental in Prague Posted: Wed April 2, 2008 01:58 AM UTC
I would like to rent two touring bikes in Prague for a 15 day trip down the Elbe to Cuxhaven (train back to Prague)in September 2008.
I am looking for rental locations and prices for a 15 day trip. We'll be carrying fairly lightweight panniers as we will stay in hotels and eat in restaurants. An alternative would be to buy (with hopes to resell) fairly inexpensive bikes. |
