La Tranche-sur-Mer Overnight parking with caravan
Posted: Thu July 16, 2009 12:43 AM UTC
Could anyone suggest some safe parking facilities close to Le Tranche Sur Mer, that would permit overnight parking with a caravan. Either in Le Tranche or close by. This is in anticipation of a late arrival but would enable us to complete our journey, until booking into our holiday park the following morning. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thankyou for your time.

Pays de la Loire Visting the castles for a weekend
Posted: Sun May 31, 2009 06:49 PM UTC
Hi,

I and my friend will be in Paris on a Friday evening.
we want to spend the weekend visiting the castles in the valley.
We have the return flight out of Paris (CDG) on Sunday late evening.

Which city (in the valley)should we stay - whichever is closer to the castles and accessible by public transport. Alternatively if we can find tours to these castles from the local city,it will be easier.

Thanks in adavnce

Nantes Somewhere beautiful to stay en route to St Jean De Monts from Nantes Airport
Posted: Sat May 30, 2009 05:23 PM UTC
Hi guys,

could anyone suggest somewhere fab to stay over on the way to St Jean De Monts from Nantes airport?

We need to bare in mind that we'll have two tired children straight off a plane so we only want to travel a max of 30 mins from the airport. If we go somewhere half way or so then we've estimated that we'll only have approx 40 mins of travelling the next day to get to our holiday destination of Orouet, St Jean De Monts.

Check list required is;

1. Somewhere 30 min from the airport en route to holiday destination

2. Somewhere beautiful to wake up to in the morning !

3. Somewhere that serves a typical French breakfast, has swimming pool (outside)
and the Kids say 'WOW' to because its so pretty !

Not a lot to ask for I'm sure.....????

P.S RYAN AIR ARE SELLING FLIGHTS FOR £5 TO NANTES AT THE MINUTE UNTIL MONDAY I THINK? ONLY FROM CERTAIN AIRPORTS THOUGH.

Nantes Nantes to St Malo without a car
Posted: Thu May 21, 2009 12:44 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm trying to get to St Malo from London (by Monday 25th afternoon)and the flights to Dinard are sold out.
I could fly from London City airport to Nantes arriving 20.30h on Sunday.

*Anyone know if I could then travel on from Nantes Aeorport to St Malo at this time of evening, or would it be too late?

*Any ideas on how long it would take to do this on Monday morning?

Obviously I'd like as few changes as possible! My end destination is a hotel near the spa.

Reading other replies, I went to the travel website mentioned but couldn't figure it out - i THINK it was saying no direct trains, have to change in Rennes.

thank you!!

Nantes What Transport is available from Nantes TGV to St Jean De Monts
Posted: Wed May 6, 2009 11:27 PM UTC
Could anyone please tell me what options are available to me and my family for getting from Nantes Rail Station to St Jean De Monts.

Is there a bus, if so what is the number and is there a website I can find a timetable.

If I get a train from Nantes, what is the best station to go to and are taxis readily available at the stations?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Pays de la Loire If you could only pick 3 chateau...
Posted: Thu April 16, 2009 07:15 PM UTC
I'm traveling with my family for 2 weeks to France in early August. We'll be spending 2+ days in the Loire area, and I'm trying to narrow down my sightseeing choices. We'll be staying in Tours, and will see the cathedral there. If you had to pick 3-4 chateau to visit, which are your "don't miss"? I've pretty much decided on Chenonceau, but what other advice do you have for me?

Nantes St Malo to Nantes
Posted: Tue April 7, 2009 07:42 PM UTC
I live in Bournemouth and am looking to travel to Nantes in June, and would like to take the ferry from Poole. On the day I wish to travel there is one ferry to St Malo, which arrives at 19:30. I have enquired about trains to Nantes and it seems the last one goes at 19:50, which is probably cutting it a bit too fine. I have tried to find out about bus/coach services but have had no luck so far.

Can anyone point me in the direction of information on bus routes between St Malo and Nantes, presumably via/changing at Rennes?

Or can anyone reassure me that 20 minutes will be enough time to change from ferry to train at St Malo?

It's frustrating that it just seems assumed that anyone travelling to St Malo will just want to stop there. I'm sure it's very pretty and everything, but still...

Pays de la Loire Visiting Les Chateaux!
Posted: Wed October 8, 2008 04:23 AM UTC
My sister and I will be in Tours in April 2009. I have been searching the Web for tour companies that would do these specific Chateaux: Azay le Rideau, Chaumont, and Chenonceau. The minibus tour that I found on the Tours website will visit only a couple of the Chateaux, but not all of them. I have only 1 day to to a 'complete' tour of these 3 chateaux. Can anyone suggest another tour company that would include all 3 chateaux, possibly more? We don't drive (car) but we can probably handle a bicylcle or scooter if they are available in Tours? I'd much prefer a small group or private tour, though.

Nantes Sightseeing in Nantes

I will be spending around 4 to 5 hours in Nantes in the afternoon including the lunch break. How can I fruitfully utilise the time to see around Nantes? Should I travel by a tram? What would be the fare like? If somebody can help me with suggestions it would be most welcome.

Pays de la Loire Cities to go how long to stay in august
Posted: Sun April 6, 2008 04:47 PM UTC
Hello,

I'd like to go to the Pays de la Loire with my girlfriend.
Do you know if late August (ex. 18-23 august) is too crowded, or if it is bearable?
Do you know the best towns to stay and the best places to visit?
We're thinking of staying there for 4 days and after spend 2 days in Mont St Michel. Do you think it's too much, too little or just fine?
Thanks,

Pays de la Loire Relaxing holiday
Posted: Tue January 29, 2008 02:41 PM UTC
Hi,

I have been looking at places to stay in Pays de la Loire for a week with my boyfriend.

I am looking to stay in a gite or a campsite but would like to be relatively near a lakeside beach, or somewhere to relax by water.

The main purpose of our holiday is to take in the sites, go to local markets and sample the local wine and cusine.

I am on a tight budget so I appreciate any advice I can get really.

Many thanks :-)

Fontenay-le-Comte apartment or gite in marais area
Posted: Mon December 10, 2007 02:37 AM UTC
My wife and I are travelling to the Vendee area late September 2008. We are looking for self catering accommodation in or near the Marais Poitevin. We prefer an apartment or small house for one week in a small town with market and usual food retail. A double or queen size bed, full kitchen facilities. Our budget is around 200 euros per week. Any suggestions?

Pays de la Loire Honeymoon in loire
Posted: Sun December 2, 2007 09:16 AM UTC
Hi there,

we are planning to drive to Loire from eurostar for a 5 days in April
Never been there before, so looking for some recommendations. We are looking at Chateaux and also at the opportunity to play a bit of golf and wine tasting. We found a place called les bordes with a golf course on site. Anybody been here. We are fairly new to golf an just want the opportunity to play once or twice, otherwise we would like to go wine tasting and other sight seeing.

Thanks
