Nantes Sightseeing in Nantes
Posted: Wed September 24, 2008 04:26 PM UTC
I will be spending around 4 to 5 hours in Nantes in the afternoon including the lunch break. How can I fruitfully utilise the time to see around Nantes? Should I travel by a tram? What would be the fare like? If somebody can help me with suggestions it would be most welcome.

Nantes Day Trips from Nantes
Posted: Thu June 5, 2008 01:52 AM UTC
Any good suggestions for day trips in a car (for one or two days) outside of Nantes? We like anything -- rural and walking once we get there is always nice though. We would be there in March '09

Pays de la Loire Cities to go how long to stay in august
Posted: Sun April 6, 2008 03:47 PM UTC
Hello,

I'd like to go to the Pays de la Loire with my girlfriend.
Do you know if late August (ex. 18-23 august) is too crowded, or if it is bearable?
Do you know the best towns to stay and the best places to visit?
We're thinking of staying there for 4 days and after spend 2 days in Mont St Michel. Do you think it's too much, too little or just fine?
Thanks,
carlos andrade

Pays de la Loire Relaxing holiday
Posted: Tue January 29, 2008 01:41 PM UTC
Hi,

I have been looking at places to stay in Pays de la Loire for a week with my boyfriend.

I am looking to stay in a gite or a campsite but would like to be relatively near a lakeside beach, or somewhere to relax by water.

The main purpose of our holiday is to take in the sites, go to local markets and sample the local wine and cusine.

I am on a tight budget so I appreciate any advice I can get really.

Many thanks :-)

Fontenay-le-Comte apartment or gite in marais area
Posted: Mon December 10, 2007 01:37 AM UTC
My wife and I are travelling to the Vendee area late September 2008. We are looking for self catering accommodation in or near the Marais Poitevin. We prefer an apartment or small house for one week in a small town with market and usual food retail. A double or queen size bed, full kitchen facilities. Our budget is around 200 euros per week. Any suggestions?

Pays de la Loire Honeymoon in loire
Posted: Sun December 2, 2007 08:16 AM UTC
Hi there,

we are planning to drive to Loire from eurostar for a 5 days in April
Never been there before, so looking for some recommendations. We are looking at Chateaux and also at the opportunity to play a bit of golf and wine tasting. We found a place called les bordes with a golf course on site. Anybody been here. We are fairly new to golf an just want the opportunity to play once or twice, otherwise we would like to go wine tasting and other sight seeing.

Thanks

Pays de la Loire Renting a House in France
Posted: Mon October 29, 2007 10:03 AM UTC
Hello,

We are looking to reat a house in France for 2 weeks in June of 2008. I'd appreciate some advice on the best places to look....thank you in advance.

1. There will be 6/6 adults and 5/7 children
2. We'd like somewhere rural but reasonably close to a village/town
3. Access to wonderful French food is important
4. A quiet golf course close by would be nice
5. Water whether it be a pool or river should be close at hand to cool down

Thank you again for any advice and all is welcomed.

Pays de la Loire Town / Chateau in the loire valley
Posted: Mon July 30, 2007 04:45 PM UTC
hello everyone,

Will be visiting the Loire Valley in October. There seem to be many nice towns here - like Tours, Amboise, Blois, Chambord, Orleans. But I'm not able to decide which one to stay at. I'll be there with my wife for about 2 nights. Please help us choose. We're going there mainly for the wine.

Also, I've heard that staying in a Chateau is an amazing experience. Can anybody suggest a really good chateau-hotel? I've looked around a bit and found two that seem nice - Le Chateau de Pray and Chateau de Noizay. Are they good? If not, can you suggest another nice one?

Thanks a lot for the help...

Beausoleil and ALTC... hope ur there. Your tips a few days back really helped.

Thanks.

Pays de la Loire Loire Valley
Posted: Sun July 29, 2007 06:00 PM UTC
Hi,

I plan to visit Paris and the Loire valley in October with my wife. Please help with the following:

1. Thinkin of driving from Paris to the Loire. How long will it take? Is it a nice and scenic drive?

2. Is the Loire valley a very big area? I mean, does it have different places in it? In that case, which place should we stay at?

3. How many days should we spend there?

Thank you.

Nantes Rugby World Cup
Posted: Mon July 23, 2007 01:00 PM UTC
This is to do with travelling to the England v Samoa rugby match on Saturday September 22nd, kick off time 16.00.
I will be staying on the Friday night in a hotel in Heric and will be driving into Nantes on Saturday.
I will therefore need to be able to (a) park my car and (b) get to the the Stadium "La Beaujoire". Is it best to try to park at the stadium or should I park somewhere else and get public transport to and from the stadium.
Afterwards I will be travelling to Sables d'Olonne.
Advice urgently sought.

Nantes Day stop in Nantes - any pointers?
Posted: Sun May 13, 2007 09:37 PM UTC
We are travelling down to a villa in St Germain de Lusignan (nr Jonzac) at the end of August and arrive in France a day before the Villa booking begins, so I was planning on splitting up the drive and stopping half (ish) way down...??

With limited knowledge of France and how we are going to get to the Villa etc etc (only booked it about an hour ago!) - I looked at a map and thought Nantes might be a nice place to stop to break up the drive?

We are a family with two adults and 3 kids (2, 3 & 8) - would Nantes be a suitable place to stop or should I look for a smaller place where we could stay out of town for a night?

Also, as there are 5 of us and we all need to get in one hotel room - does anyone have any experience of where we can stay?? (not too expensive!)

Thanks in advance!

Pays de la Loire Suggestions for stopover between Brive and Paris
Posted: Sun May 13, 2007 08:40 AM UTC
I am travelling with my 12 year old nephew from Brive to Paris in August and would like to stopover for a night en route. Preferabely somewhere half way between or nearer Paris, ideally a small town that would excite a 12 year old. Maybe a castle on a hill or a ruin. We will be travelling by train, so it does need to be on the Brive to Paris train line. Any suggestions?

Pays de la Loire Loire Valley wineries - can someone please recommend a good tour company?
Posted: Tue April 24, 2007 10:35 PM UTC
I saw a similar post on this forum but it is now 2 1/2 years old, so I'm wondering if someone can please recommend a good tour company to do a day trip to the Loire Valley with.

We don't mind whether we get picked up in Paris or have to take the train to Tours and get picked up from there.

We're quite happy if it includes one castle but apart from that we want to concentrate on wine tasting. We'd rather not spend most of the day touring the actual winery/ies because we have only limited time.

Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.
