Provincia de Mendoza Best 1-4 day hiking??
Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 12:20 AM UTC
Hi. I expect to spend about 7-10 days in Mendoza in January, and I'm looking for recommendations on the absolute best hikes/treks. Anything in the range of 1-4 days. I'm looking for the best views of the Andes and the most beautiful trails! It seems like many people do the approach to Aconcagua... is this really the best??

When my partner and I went to Bolivia we discovered the most incredible hike we'd ever done (Choro Trek), but we only heard about it word-of-mouth. So we're hoping to repeat that experience!

Posted: Sun May 11, 2008 05:18 PM UTC
As of December 2007 Bolivia requires a $100 Visa from all americans. There was a period of time you could show up at the border and pay for the stamp....on the spot. I will heading towards Bolivia and would like to avoid a stop in Santiago Chile....Can I still buy my Visa at the Bolivian Chile Border? Traveling on bicycle and dont want to hastle with big city santiago or buenos aires.

Thanks

Buenos Aires Insider's Palermo?
Posted: Sun May 11, 2008 01:45 PM UTC
Hi, I'm in Buenos Aires for all of 2008 and would like to find some great places to explore other than the usual (i.e., San Telmo, Recoleta, etc.). I don't know a lot about Palermo Soho, Hollywood, or Viejo, having mainly hung around the areas between Santa Fe and Libertador. Does anyone have some suggestions about great neighborhoods to explore, good restaurants, etc.?

Quito Coffee for breakfast
Posted: Sun May 11, 2008 09:11 AM UTC
While I was in Quito I developed a taste for
the instant coffee mixture that seemed to
be everywhere for breakfast.
It was added to a cup of steaming milk
and seemed to be instant coffee mixed in
with maybe cinnamon and other spices.

Does anyone have a recipe?????

Peru Machu picchu in july - few tickets?
Posted: Sat May 10, 2008 04:00 PM UTC
Hey

I have read that there are "few" (500-1000) tickets per day to MP.
We're going to cuzco on the 8th of july, but are on a thight schedule.
Is it possible to purchase a ticket that very day,and go to MP
the next day?
I intend to get traintickets well in advance, but I'm a bit
worried about the limit of visitors per day to MP.

please help me :)

Belo Horizonte Bus information between Belo Horizonte and Betim
Posted: Fri May 9, 2008 02:17 PM UTC
We speak English and pretty good Spanish but have no experience in Brazil. So we wanted to know if we can expect to get by well without Portuguese but with English and Spanish in Belo HOrizonte. We are attending meetings during the day in Betim
for about six days in a row, some meetings may start early in the morning and go to late at nite. How is the bus schedule between Betim and Belo HOrizonte, where we will be staying.

Thanks so much for your help. Ellen

South America Looking for tour guide
Posted: Fri May 9, 2008 07:33 AM UTC
We are visiting South America later this year and are looking for a tour guide to show us around the places we visit.

We are visiting Santiago, Lima, Lake Titicaca, Cusco, Rio de Janeiro, Iguassu Falls and Buenos Aires.

We were hoping to book our guides through one company but who may cover all of South America. Has anyone had any good experiences, or able to recommend any guides?

Lima Safe hostels in Lima...
Posted: Thu May 8, 2008 10:55 PM UTC
Hello all. I will be travelling to Lima in about two weeks and I am looking for a safe but relatively cheap hostel or hotel. I would prefer a double (as I will be travelling with the fiance) with a private bath anywhere in the price range of $25 to 40 a night. I have been searching online and reading Lonely Planet but from previous travelling I have found that the best suggestions come from other travellers.

I will only be staying in Lima for 2 or 3 nights and then catching a flight to Puerto Maldonado so any suggestions for places to stay in Puerto Maldonado would also be appreciated!

For past trips I have spent hours researching online for best places to stay, sights, etc. but unfortunately I will not have the time to do that for this trip. Thanks!

Lima Lima to Trujillo
Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 07:02 AM UTC
Going to be playing some tennis in Trujillo and was curious what the best/cheapest way to get there was.

We will be starting our trip in Rio. Should we buy roundtrip tickets from Rio to Lima?
Should we fly Lima to Trujillo or drive?
Should we buy tickets before coming to South America or buy them in the country?
Thank you for your time.

Hi! We want to take a trip to South America and only have 2 weeks. We were thinking maybe, Chile/Santiago, Argentina/Buenos Aires, and Patagonia? Rio? Not sure if these are the best places to go (considering travel time to each one) but would love some advice and experiences and how do people usually get around South America?

Thank you!

Peru Traveling from Huacachina, Peru to Santiago, Chile.
Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 03:29 PM UTC
Hey everybody,

I've got 5-7 days to bus down to Santiago from Huacachina. Does anyone have any good recommendations on where to stop on the way down? I will probably see Arequipa for a day and I'll probably stop in the Atacama desert for a day as well. Is it difficult to find reliable busses from place to place like this on the way down? Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated!

Happy Trails
