COCO d'Amour Posted: Sun August 5, 2007 01:14 AM UTC
I visited Seychelles once and I had the pleasure of trying this amazing rum. I have searched the internet and cannot find anyone who sells it. Does anyone know where you can purchase a bottle and have it shipped to the U.S.

Where to go? Posted: Tue July 10, 2007 10:37 AM UTC
My husband and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in October. We are planning a special holiday, but are really so scared of making the wrong choices. (Be it our first time planning such a big trip) I need feedback on the following hotels: The Plantation Resort and Casino and then the Coral Strand Hotel. I read some reviews that really scared me. I need to know if the service are good? Rooms neat? Food good? Transport available? Close to restaurants? Is it worth the money to stay in one of these hotels? Is it better to go to Seychelles than to Mauritius?

Taxi Cost from Seychelles Airport Posted: Mon July 2, 2007 07:31 AM UTC
Please advise what is the taxi cost for from airport to Mahe beach? Is there a taxi counter at the airport or do we need to negotiate a price with the taxi driver. I was quoted USD150 per person for private return transfer by the local Air Seychelles office.

Any currents at Beau Vallon Beach, Mahe Posted: Mon April 23, 2007 11:52 AM UTC
Any strong sea currents at Beau Vallon Beach, Mahe. I have swum there many times and don't recall any. My local newspaper in the UK says a 72-year-old women died there near the Coral Strand Hotel as a result of strong currents. I don't recall any do you?

From Hong Kong? Posted: Tue April 10, 2007 05:33 AM UTC
Which would be the best route to fly from Hong Kong? travel agents here can only recommend flying via Singapore and Doha (2 stopovers..) or via Mautirius (flights only once a week...). I'm wondering if there would be alternative routes that anyone might be aware of? Thanks in advance!

Which Island Posted: Tue January 2, 2007 10:00 PM UTC
We are planning to visit in March but not sure which island to visit. We like visiting different beaches, and eating out so prefer self catering and are happy to hire a car. Not sure if Mahe is best option because it is largest island, pralin or 1 of the smaller islands. Can you help.

Christmas Posted: Fri November 17, 2006 11:34 AM UTC
I am planning to spend Christmas in Seychelles and i am planning to stay at Hilton Northolme. Can anyone tell me about this hotel? The location of the hotel is north. Do you think that this will be annoying due to the northwest winds. Generally is the weather good during this period? I have been in Mauritious last christmas and eventhough it was supposed to be the rainy season, the weather was extremely good (perhaps too good and too hot-very strong sun). Is it the same climate with Seychelles?

My partner’s name is Kas; he's a 27 medical student working at the local hospital in Mahe, non smoker. He's looking to rent for 6 months. He is currently out there but has had difficultly in finding a place.
I would be extremely grateful if someone could give us some info on renting out there.
Thank You

Scuba Diving Posted: Wed October 18, 2006 07:34 PM UTC
My fiance and I are planning to spend part of our honeymoon in the Seychelles in November. Right now we are booked for a day and a half in Mahe and a few days in each of La Digues and Praslin. Is there good scuba diving in these locations? I am considering changing our destination to Desroches. Is there better diving there? Is one location better than the other for activities other than diving- we also want to see nice beaches and have the change to go sailing and windsurfing.
Is there good diving in general without doing a liveaboard? We would like to enjoy the conforts of land accomodation for our honeymoon.

Wedding registration and honeymoon at the Seychelles Posted: Fri June 23, 2006 07:14 AM UTC
Dear friends,
I and my groom plan to get married at the Seychelles in October 2006. We'll fly here on October 16t and stay for 8 nights.
We consider to make the registration either on Praslin or Mahe. Then we'd like to visit La Digue and the other fabulous islands.
This trip is very special for us. Besides, we've never been here before.
So I'd be very grateful if you could give me your precious suggestions about nice and not expansive hotels for the registration and other useful tips about planning.
We'd also like to rent a car here to explore the beauty of the islands.
Which of the beaches are the best here with white sand, without stones, urchins and big waves.
Which restaurants would you recommend?
Actually we'd like to make our trip not expansive one.
I appreciate a lot all your answers,
Cheers, Alena

I went to Seychelles, Mahe for two weeks in Mai 2006 Posted: Sun June 4, 2006 06:05 PM UTC
Its very hot and humid so be prepared.Dont forget your sunscreen.I wanted to tan so I only put on "4"...I burned like a lobster on my first day there. So 30 is necessary. My baby had "50" and she tanned a lil bit...so the sun is very strong.
We stayed at the Beau Vallon Bungalows. If you like to just sit and relax outside this place is very nice...Right next door you have Romance bungalows ...Which looks better...But we had a baby so Beau Vallon Bungalows was perfect for us. www.seychelles.com ...(Is where we found their phone number).I rate the room 6/10...they gave us a crib for our baby and it was acceptable ...Cleanliness was to be desired...but its ok.Laundry service is expensive ...You should pay with Cash....Becuz in Seychelles the goverment takes more than half the money if u pay by Visa etc...(IM SERIOUS)If I remember correcly they leave the bisness with 15% of the price.Anyways...BeauVallon beach is the Biggest beach on the island ..(I think) Theres a good restaurant called Boat house ...the food is good...Also theres a pizzeria infront of the Beauvallon Bungalows...The pizza is really good...Anyways...we rented a car with King Cars...Its not in a touristic place because my fiances family lives overthere so they rented the car for us.
Visit the botanical Garden...They will ask for Euros..Seychelles is in need of foreign exchange.Rent a car and get lost on the mountain roads it is truly worth it.If you want to take a tour "MasonsTravel" is very good Staff is very nice and friendly...We took the tour :"Tale of two islands Pralin & La digue" Very worth it.and Semi submersible boat...Also worth it...
The driving in seychelles is dangerous.Seychellois dont care for rules. They will overtake in small moutain roads . Be careful.Baby dont require a car seat in seychelles so bring your own or sit in the back.
Thats about it...for now

Honeymoon: Denis island/ Banyan tree/Praslin: loads and loads of questions! Posted: Fri May 19, 2006 12:25 PM UTC
Just starting planning a honeymoon in the indian ocean! We have decided on the Seychelles because of the weather (we are going May or June). I have loads of questions which I would be so grateful if people would be able to help with! As a bit of background we are planning either a two or three centre, two week holiday
either:
banyan tree/taj denis island followed by la reserve/l'archipel/Hotel Acajou
or
banyan tree followed by taj denis island followed by la reserve/l'archipel/Hotel Acajou
1) Has anyone been to Denis island since Taj took it over? What do you think of it? Are they building a pool? Is this work intrusive? Will it be finished by May/June 2007? How does this compare to other Taj properties e.g. Mauritius? Is it a good option as a luxury start to a honeymoon?
2) Has anyone been to la reserve since the recent refit? What do you think? What are the main differences between these three Praslin hotels?
3) Are there good vegetarian dinner options (no fish) at these hotels? Are there good other restaurant options within walking distance of the Praslin hotels?
4) Are the seas rough around Denis island and/or the area of Praslin we have decided on at this time of year? Will this affect snorkling? From recent trips is the snorkling in these areas good generally?
5) Any recommendations for who to book with?
If you can answer any (or all??!?!) of these queries I would be most grateful! We travel a fair bit and I am doing lots of research but we feel that this is a very important holiday to get right!!
love
Laura
