room for rent with a local family Posted: Wed November 4, 2009 11:31 PM UTC
Hi everyone
would you be kind enough to give me ideas on how to rent a room for a month in the Seychelles? either Mahé, la Digue or Praslin ? I am planning to stay one month relaxing and would ideally like to rent from a local family but will consider small guesthouses if the price is right.
Any ideas welcome
thank you

Seychelles - costs for accommodation and food Posted: Sun June 28, 2009 12:03 AM UTC
Hi,
we would like to go to Seychelles in September with our 1,5 years old son. We would like to spend there 2 weeks (7 days Mahe, 3 days Praslin, 4 days La Digue). But we are afraid of big costs of this holiday (for about 2 weeks) and whether it is suitable for a little baby. I would like to know:
1) Is it real to find some good accommodation under 40 euro per person on that islands? I have read that there are some cheap accommodations, but i dont know, if they arent too far from beach, or if they are free yet (because its only 3 months before our trip and the number of cheap rooms can be limited).
2) Food - what is the average price in cheap restaurants there? What are the prices in supermarkets?
3) Transfer in Mahe - i have heard that buses are cheap there, but are they comfortable and safe for traveling with a baby? Can i easy visit main beaches in Mahe with buses? What are prices for taxi there?
4) Transfer in La Digue - i have heard that bicykles are best choice for traveling there, but what to do with a small baby there, have they some child-seat for bicykles?
5) Ferrys between islands - is it comfortable for a baby? I know that between Mahe and Praslin i can use a plane, but cannot use it to travel to La Digue - and I have heard that a boat between Praslin and La Digue isnt much comfortable... Whats your opinion?
6) Health care - is in La Digue some hospital, or just a doctor?
7) Whale sharks - can i go swim with them, or only dive?
Thanks for every advice

Seychelles, Mauritius, or Maldives? Posted: Mon June 22, 2009 08:54 PM UTC
I'm considering these 3 locations for my June 2010 honeymoon. How do they stack up against one another in terms of cost, things to do, getting there, etc?
I've done the internet research, but it would be great to hear some personal stories and experiences.
Many thanks,

Budget Hotels in the Seychelles Posted: Fri March 20, 2009 03:51 AM UTC
Hi there,
I'm looking for a cheaper location somewhere in the Seychelles for about 3 weeks. We need somewhere that can take 6 people (2 adults and 4 children) for $160 euro a night or less (for the whole family). We prefer something that is on or close to a beach and for this budget are looking for self-catering or small B&B type accomodation. Is it possible to find something like this in the Seychelles? Any reccomendations and contact info?
Thanks!

Single traveler looking for affordable accomodations in late April Posted: Sat December 27, 2008 09:37 AM UTC
Hello,
I am in the early stages of planning a trip to the Seychelles. Is it fair to say that late April would be considered as "low" season? I have been trying to research prices and availability at some of the hotels/hostels for that time frame, but have had very limited luck. Am I researching too far out (from when I plan to travel), or should I just assume that most places will have rooms available during late April? I am not looking for a five star hotel, or anything extravagant, just a nice affordable place with somewhat friendly staff, and a place to sleep. I don't plan to spend much of my time in my room, so affordability is more important than amenities. If anyone has any answers, helpful information, or suggestions for what I seek, I would be quite grateful.
Thank you kindly,
Dylan

Folks,
I will be in Mahe Island this coming weekend for two weeks with my girlfriend and we would like to know if someone can help us with these questions:

2- Where in Victoria market I can convert my Dollar to S. Rupee to get the best exchange rate? What is the black market exchange rate these days?
Thanks in advance for your time and asnwers
Best

Surfing Posted: Wed July 2, 2008 02:17 PM UTC
Hi,
Could anyone recommend any place in Seychelles where you can surf? We are not very experienced surfers (body boarding actually) so the waves don't have to be big but it would be great if they were accessible from the beach. Thanks in advance for any replies.
Cheers,

vacation from 5 september until 27 September Posted: Sat June 28, 2008 03:11 PM UTC
Dear travelers
We will spending our honeymoon in the Seychelles from 5 sep. until 27 sep.
we land on Mahé. we would love to have some advice from the islands .
we dont know what is the best to do , we love nice beaches but we love also a bit walking around in the evenings and visiting some local rstaurants. but not to touristic. and to expencive ( if thats possible on the seychelles??)
we love to do some nice snorkeling , is it possible to have good snorkelplaces direct from the beach or do U have to go out on a boat?
i heard that on some islands u have to go on the right side of the island becouse the waves can be bigger on one side that the other and swimming can be dangerous. we would love to get some advice from nice accomadation on the islands ( Mahe , la digue , praslin ) 100 € a nigth approx.
thanx for the info.
much greetings Stef & Chris.

Feasability of Day trip to La Digue from Mahe Posted: Sun June 1, 2008 02:13 AM UTC
We are staying on Mahe at the Hilton for a week. However we would like to see La Digue and are on a limited budget. Is it possible to enjoy a day trip to La Digue by taking the ferry from Mahe to Praslin to La Digue?
I've looked at the Heli company, and it would be about $550 dollars round trip for 2 direct to la Digue. A flight to Praslin would be about $440 dollars round trip for 2 then a 10 Euro ferry to La Digue. While the ferry would be about 40 euro to Praslin, then 10 Euro to La Digue.
If I go the cheapest ferry route, will I have enough beach time in 1 day?
We are limited to only day trips as our lodging is free on points at the Hilton. So any information on this day trip or alternative day trips from Mahe would be greatly appreciated.

Recommendations for small hotel or guesthouse Posted: Wed May 28, 2008 06:58 AM UTC
We are looking for clean comfortable accommodation with a bit of atmosphere or nice ambiance and walking distance to shops & restaurants. Our budget is up to 125 euro per night - we have no set ideas on exact location- will consider any area. I have seen ample accommodation is available in our limited budget but we are looking for a personal recommendation - the pictures don't always paint an accurate picture. We will travel sometime between September and November for 7 to 10 days.
Thanks for your recommendations.

Choice between two. Any suggestions? Posted: Tue March 11, 2008 05:50 AM UTC
My wife and I are going to Seychelles in June and have booked our room on Mahe. Now we are trying to decide where to stay for 7 nights on Prasline. We have done a lot of research and have narrowed our choices down to 2 places based on our preferences. We are looking at Les Villas d'Or and Cote d'Or Chalets. Both look very nice and are located on the same beach. If anyone knows the size of the rooms at either place that would be helpful. They both look spacious but photos can be deceiving. Thanks for the tips!!

Budget travel to Seychelles Posted: Wed December 26, 2007 04:04 PM UTC
I saw last time quite nice promotion from Warsaw to Seychelles via Paris.
The flight price is quite acceptable (400 Euro). However as my budget is limited I try to find out some basic info about these islands.
What are the prices there ? What does the standard dinner/lunch for 1 person costs there ? What are the costs of travelling inside one island and between islands ?
Do you know any acceptable hotel/guesthouse (B&B) up to 50 USD per single room ?
Are credit cards are commonly acceptable ? Is it better to use credit cards or cash ?

Staying in Praslin, with a child of 3 years old Posted: Sun December 16, 2007 05:06 PM UTC
Hi everybody, next April my wife, I and pour child are planning to stay in Praslin for some 10 days. We were 5 years ago in La Digue, but now we want to stay in Praslin.
We'd like to have suggestions, tips or anything else on "where" to stay, considering we've read many things on staying on the "wrong" side of the island in that period (for ex. beaches exposed to bad sea...).
We'd like - as anybody! - stay in a confortable nice and cheap accomodation, with a beach close 'cause of the baby.
Thx to anybody who'll help us !!!! Cheers !!!! Lox

Travel to Seychelles Posted: Tue November 27, 2007 05:23 AM UTC
My husband and I are interested in taking a trip to Seychelles this winter. We are coming from the Western United States and we are havikng trouble looking up flights. Travelocity and those basic sites come back with nothing, and when I looked it up on yahoo it says the tickets would each be 9,000 USD. Is this correct, or is there some place where I might be able to search which is reasonable.
