| Zagreb Region | Recommendations of what to see in and around Zagreb Posted: Thu July 10, 2008 06:29 PM UTC
I will be flying in and out of Zagreb this September. I'm planning on spending some time in Zagreb, flying down to Dubrovnik, and at some point, possibly taking a bus into Slovenia, visiting Lubjiana and Bled. What other locations would you recommend visiting in between those areas, keeping in mind I only have about two weeks. Thanks!

| Zagreb | getting to Zagreb from Dubrovnik Posted: Fri May 16, 2008 02:54 PM UTC
Hi all,
I will be touring the coast of Croatia starting from the north and ending in Dubrovnik. From there, I need a major airport to fly from back to NYC. I can get a relatively good price on Czech Airlines from Zagreb to NYC. What is the best (cheapest) way to get from Dubrovnik to Zagreb? Alternatively, is there a better airport to fly to from Dubrnovnik for me to then fly from back to NYC? Thanks! |

| Zagreb | May 9, 2008, Ascension Day in Zagreb. Will Varazdin, Trakoscan and Veliki Tabor be Open???? Posted: Mon April 28, 2008 02:20 AM UTC
After months and months of planning I just read that May 9, 2008, is Ascension Day, which is a National Holiday in Zagreb. We are scheduled to spend the day visiting Varazdin, Trakoscan and Veliki Tabor Castles. I have been trying to check to see if they will be open or closed for that day, and I am unable to find anything.
We need the information fast as we are leaving for Italy on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Please say that we will be able to visit those sites on that day. Thanks much. |

| Zagreb | Car rental Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 08:03 PM UTC
Hi,
I am going to be taking a train from Budapest to Zagreb. Then in Zagreb I was planning on renting a car to get around to differnt places in Croatia. Where should I rent a car in Zagreb? Also, I was thinking about driving over to Sarajevo after my trip in Croatia and fly out of Sarajevo to London. Would I be allowed to take the rental car across the border into Sarajevo and is this recommended or a bad approach? thanks for any tips here! Jordan |

| Zagreb | From main station to bus station. Posted: Wed April 16, 2008 09:04 PM UTC
Hello all,
Saturday 26th of april I will arrive at Zagreb main station on the night train from Zürich. If all goes well this train ought to arrive at 10:53. My final destination is Biograd. I know that there is a bus to Biograd at the bus station at 11:30. If I don't make that I'll get the first fast bus to Zadar and see there. Question: Will I make it to the bus station in 30 minutes? I know that I need to take tram 2 or 6, but how frequent are they on saturday? Also how much would a tram ticket be, and how do I go about obtaining one. I probably won't have any small change in Kuna on me. |

| Zagreb | Buses from Zagreb to Budapest Posted: Wed April 16, 2008 06:46 PM UTC
I am trying to figure out a way to get from Zagreb to Budapest. There seems to be only one morning train. Are there regular daily buses to Budapest? The online time tables do not show any result for buses from Zagreb to Budapest. I have also looked into car rentals, which are very expensive except for SIXT, does anyone known if this is a good resource. It seems like it would be an easy drvie from Zagreb to Budapest; am I missing something?

Hello,
My friend and I will be traveling from Budapest to Zagreb in May. I have read on various websites that you can get a 60% discount on train tickets if you buy a return ticket? Does anyone know the cheapest way to get from Budapest to Zagreb? If it is by train, does anyone know the cheapest combination? Or the fastest? |

Hi,
My four friends and I are coming to Zagreb in mid-March and were wondering what kind of place it is at that time of year? Is it very quiet compared to the summer? We are set to come from a sunday-thursday...would it be better to come during a weekend? or are things happening during the week as well? Any recommendations for our first in Zagreb?? Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks, Jon |

| Zagreb Region | Varazdin, Trakoscan and Veliki Tabor from Zagreb Posted: Wed February 6, 2008 09:26 PM UTC
Hi,
I have been spending hours and hours researching visiting the above sites. We do not have a car. I was hoping to hire a driver to take us to all three places in one day, thinking that it would save time. When I contacted an agency, the quote I was given was truly outlandish. (I have hired drivers before.) We could take a public bus to Varazdin in the morning and spend some time there on our own and then return by bus to Zagreb. If that be the case, I was hoping to find public transportation the next day to both castles from Zagreb, but I am unable to find it. I cannot imagine there would be public transportation from Varazdin to Trakoscan and return to Varazdin and then take a bus to Zagreb. I was even thinking of taking public transportation to Varazdin and then a taxi to Trakoscan and Veliki Tabor and have the driver drive us to Zagreb. (That, too, would probably be very expensive.) I cannot find a tour of both castles in one day for a Friday or Saturday in May, 2008. As an aside, I tried to check the bus schedules, and the following appeared: "This message from server cannot be parsed." I do not know what that means. Can anyone help me with the bus schedules, also? Is there anyone on this Forum who is able to solve this problem for us? Or, does anyone know of an English-speaking driver who charges a realistic price for such a trip? Any and all help/suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks. |
