Cruise port to Srdj hill Posted: Sat October 31, 2009 01:40 PM UTC
Will be in Dubrovnik for about 8hrs on next Sunday... do plan to visit the city walls/old town by taking the bus into town from the port as directed by other forum members.
I came across some forum where people were raving about a visit to the Srdj hill... I hear the road up the hill is quite steep. I am guessing a taxi is the only safe option and how much would it cost from the old town and back to the cruise port?
thanks for your help and suggestions,
neel

Travel from Rijeka to Italy Posted: Wed October 28, 2009 11:53 AM UTC
I'm travelling to Rijeka for the first time next March. I need to return to Italy and wondered whether anyone could advise on a cruise/boat travel that goes from Rijeka to Venice or other parts of Italy that would be worth doing? (I'd like to see some of the Croation coastline rather than just go back to Italy by train or bus.)
Also - how long would you recommend staying in Rijeka? is there much to do from a tourist perspective?

2 or 3 days in Split? Any tips please Posted: Sat October 3, 2009 03:42 AM UTC
Dober dan
My friend and I are visiting Split, arriving by train in the morning of Wednesday the 28th October, and hopefully have at least two days or maybe three days leaving by ferry or train on either Thursday or Friday (29th or 30th).
Both of us enjoy train travel, good (local) food and beer, and maybe meet up with local people for a walking tour.
We are staying in a hostel.
What would you recommend for a good day out by train please.
Puna hvala

Several hours in Zagreb Posted: Sat October 3, 2009 03:36 AM UTC
Dober dan, My friend and I are travelling through Croatia and eventually want to end up in Split. Our journey from Ljubljana will be by train and I think we'll be arriving about midday.
We would like some advice, about how best to spend a few hours in this city as we believe there is an overnight train onward to Split.
Last year another friend was travelling through Croatia between Budapest and Ljubljana and had a stop in Zagreb and said what a wonderful place it was.
It would be nice to meet some local people, and receive some local advice on where we could have a good inexpensive CROATIAN meal in the city.
Puna hvala
Perhaps there are walking tours?
What are the trains like going to Split, will we need to book?

Flying to Dubronik, Croatia Posted: Thu October 1, 2009 03:46 AM UTC
I need to fly to Montenegro this summer from the USA and would like to plan ahead and get a good deal on airfare. We will be leaving around July 6th and staying approximately 1 month. Does anyone have any advice on how to plan this and purchase my airfare in advance in order to save some money? We are planning on flying into either Dubrovnik, Croatia or Tivat, Montenegro. Presently there will be 2 adults and 2 children flying. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

St. Francis of Assisi and the Franciscan Church in Dubrovnik Posted: Thu September 17, 2009 08:36 AM UTC
I Heard a legend about the Franciscan Church in Dubrovnik, that it has been built in accordance with the wishes of St. Francis himself who earlier sailed
along the Adriatic Coast and his ship has been destroyed by the storm, was saved, and he spent the night (or sometime) in Dubrovnik.
Is there truth to it?

Arriving in Zagreb from Slovenia Posted: Mon September 14, 2009 08:04 AM UTC
Hi all, I wanted to ask some advice on how to get to Zagreb from Ljubjlana, Slovenia.
Is it cheaper and faster with the train or the bus? Are there many trips in one day?
What are the best areas in Zagreb city center can one stay would you recommend to stay?
If you have any recommendations to websites to pensions/hostels or B&B's which is less than 50 Euros per night, that would be great!
Thank you for the help!

Arriving in Dubrovnik from Split Posted: Mon September 14, 2009 07:53 AM UTC
Hi all, I just wanted to know what are the options of getting to Dubrovnik from Spit.
Which would be the most economical?
Which would be the fastest and also, the slowest (trying to avoid the slow one, if it takes too long).
From the station (bus or train), is it easy to get to the Old Town?
I've read about Villa Flora and Bokun as recommended as some of the affordable places to stay in Dubrovnik (40Euros per night). Can anyone else recommend a place within the same range (just in case both are already full). Somewhere in the Old Town would be perfect.
Thank you all for the help!

ferries or catamarans? Posted: Sat September 12, 2009 09:40 PM UTC
Hi, we will travel from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik then to Montenegro next week by rental car.
We surely want to see Hvar and Korcula.
What itinerary would you suggest? Go first to Dubrovnik and leave the car there and use catamaran? or take the car and use ferries?
Is there any other way to go to the islands coming from Sarajevo?
Thx.

Re: Car rental or a bus ticket?? Posted: Mon September 7, 2009 10:56 PM UTC
I am contemplating whether I should get bus tickets to go from Dubrovnik to Brela or rent a car locally?
I've read some reviews from other members that were not very favorable to car-rentals companies in Croatia. Nevertheless, I would like to have some flexability once I get to Brela, so I can explore the coast further.
Any suggetions on rental companies in Dubrovnik? And should I purchase the extra insurance policy offered at the stores - i.e., collision+theft insurances? Are they really necessary in Dubrovnik? And how much should be the premium?
Thank you for your help.

Ferry from Split to Hvar on 12 October Posted: Mon September 7, 2009 04:52 PM UTC
It would appear that Jadrolinja stops their catamaran service between Split and Hvar on 30 September. Since I have been unable to get hold of Jarolinja by phone, I was wondering if anyone knew of any other way of travelling between Split and Hvar in mid-October.
Many thanks

Dubrovnik to Sarajevo Posted: Wed September 2, 2009 01:48 PM UTC
Hello there! I am visiting Dubrovnik in October for 5 days and if possible, would like to do a day trip to Sarajevo. Does anyone know whether this is possible? I know there are buses departing from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo daily at 07h30 and that the bus trip is about 6 hours. Does anyone know what time buses depart Sarajevo for Dubrovnik & whether there is more than one departure per day? Alternately, are there any tour operators who offer a day trip to Sarajevo. About 7 years ago I did a trip from Dubrovnik to Mostar, but never made it as far as Sarajevo & really hope to make it this time. Any advice & suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks :o)

Parking in Rijeka Posted: Tue September 1, 2009 10:27 PM UTC
Hi,
We would like to leave our car in Rijeka for seven days while "islandhopping".
On the website of the Tourist Association I found this parking :
Parking "Rijeka promet" - Kamionski terminal Srdoci (Srdoci)
Working time and video surveillance 0-24
Price: 20,00 Kn/day for cars and 30,00 Kn/day for trailer
Info tel: ++385/51/624-485
Fax: ++385/51/626-187
E-mail: terminal@rijekapromet.hr
http://www.rijekapromet.hr
Does anyone know this parking ? Do you have the exact address ?
Is it a trustworthy place ?
If not, is there another place anyone can suggest ?
(other obvious possibilities are garages at 80 Kn a day, which seems a tad expensive...)
Thank you !
