Lagos I am curious about this statement regarding nightlife
Posted: Tue September 8, 2009 05:54 AM UTC
No special requirements are observed here. In fact, what most of the girls who frequent these places were would make your hair stand attention.

Can somebody shed some light on this??? Is it not advisable to go to a bar in Lagos?
Thanks!

Lagos Trip to Shagamu via Lagos
Posted: Fri April 17, 2009 06:33 PM UTC
Help!!!

I'm traveling to Shagamu in a few weeks and flying into Lagos. I will be staying for one week. I have never been to Nigeria before so here are my questions:

1. Cash or credit card?

2. What is the exchange ratio for naira to the u.s. dollar?

2. What are the names of some good hotels in Lagos? (I may need to stay 1 or 2 nights in Lagos).

3. Are there any decent hotels near the airport in Lagos?

Nigeria Interested in touring the local villages maybe near Jos
Posted: Fri April 10, 2009 07:58 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm interested in experiencing the local village life in Nigeria. There are several of my group who would like to learn how Nigerians live outside the cities, spend some time with them and visit them in their communities. Are there any travel groups or contacts that can give us some information on how to do this? We decided to focus on the Jos area and take tours of the surrounding area. Where could we stay? How would we find a guide to help us? How can you make contact with village leaders to setup such a visit?

thanks

Lagos Cash Notes
Posted: Sun February 8, 2009 11:40 PM UTC
You mention that people carry large amounts of cash notes with them..You also say that these notes develop an unattractive smell to them. Does this mean that credit cards are not readily accepted? Is cash money the only way to pay for things in Lagos? It is not possible to use a credit card instead of cash?
Thank you for any help that you can give me.

Nigeria Travel to Nigeria -- Need a Reliable Tour Guide and Company
Posted: Sun January 18, 2009 05:38 PM UTC
Hello VTErs,

I was hoping that one or more of you can recommend an outstanding tour guide and tour company in Nigeria. I realize that tourism is still in its infancy there, but maybe somebody knows a good one.

I am interested in doing a COMPREHENSIVE tour of Nigeria (all relevant areas, north, east, south and western parts) for up to 3 or 4 weeks. I would like to do this with a private guide and driver.

3 questions:

1) When is a good time weatherwise to see Nigeria (I was thinking in December...any suggestions...no mosquito or wet season please)

2) Great travel guide or company in Nigeria?

3) Overall safety for foreigners in Nigeria?

Hope to hear from you.

Owerri Aba Owerri/Calabar/ Aba Travel Information
Posted: Tue August 5, 2008 03:56 PM UTC
I might be making my second trip to Nigeria in October. My friend and I from Owerri might visit Calabar for a week or so.

Can anyone recommend a hotel in Calabar with AC for $50.00 per night with all charges?

My last time in Owerri we stayed at the East Gate Hotel for $50.00 per night. Is there another nice hotel in that price range in Owerri?

Can anyone recommend a nice bus for the ride to Calabar from Owerri and how much it would cost. The only bus company I know is ABCTransport. How long does it take to get from Owerri to Calabar?

Does anyone know how much it would cost to fly round trip from Owerri to Calabar and which airline company to use? Virgin Nigeria? Arik Air?

Any recommendations for restaurants in Calabar or things to do for a first time tourist?

Thanks for any help you can give me.
