I am looking to spend a week in Corsica during the end of October. Can you recommend some coastal cities that are not too cold already this time of year. Also I would like to get in some coastal and mountain hiking at some point if anyone has recommendations. When I say hiking, I mean day hiking.
Can anyone recommend an English language Ajaccio tour operator?
I'll be with my fiance celebrating our honeymoon. Several cruise companies offer an excursion from Ajaccio that has stops at an oil distillery, nougat factory, and vineyard. We'd love to do something like that, but I can't find any information on it.
My fiance and I will be taking a cruise through the Mediterrean as part of honeymoon this October. Can anyone recommend any vineyards in Ajaccio or Porto Vechio that offer tours and tastings?
Hi, I have just returned from a cruise and went on an excursion to Ajaccio. Whilst I was there I saw a lovely handbag but I did not have time to go into the shop to buy it. I am wondering if anyone else as been to this particular shop so that I can contact them to see if I can buy a bag online. The shop was on the main street and it was a jeweller shop but which also sold bags. The bag looked as if it was made from canvas and had a coral branch design on it with coral branch trim in the dark red coral colour. The bag was I think priced at 73 euros. Thanks.
Hi everyone! could anybody give me some advise how to get from Ajaccio airport to Porto Vechio. Is any bus or coach with a reasonable time table? I ve asked to the taxi fees and I ve been told €450??!!!is this posible? The thing is my flight arrives quite late to Ajaccio but I m sleeping in Porto Vechio.
Can anyone tell me roughly how much a taxi would cost from Ajaccio airport to the centre of town? My flight arrives during a 3hr gap in the bus service so think a taxi will be my only option.
Can anyone suggest inexpensive centrally-located hotels in Bastia, Bonifaccio, Ile Russe, Calvi, Ajaccio and Porto Vecchio? Am leaving in about 2 weeks.
We will arrive on a friday at 7am with the Ferry in Ile Rousse. What would be the easiest way to get to Calenzana (start of GR20)? Are there busses with a direct line or is a taxi recommeneded?
Is there such a things as an inexpensive car rental in Corsica? I want to start in Bastia in late May and would keep the car for about 8-9 days. An automatic would be preferable.
Corsica GR20 Posted: Sun April 19, 2009 05:33 PM UTC
I am arriving in Corsica at Ajaccio in June. My arrival day is a Sunday and I need to get to either end of the GR20 Calenzana or conca. It will be too late to catch the train to Calvi. Any suggestions??
I'm planning to go to Corsica for a couple of weeks in July this year and had hoped to make the trip in as environmentally friendly a way as possible. I'm getting the impression this might not be easy! It looks as though public transport is limited and I had hoped to travel the length of the island taking in Bastia and around, Bonifacio and some of central Corsica (Corte and/or Bavella), maybe planning to leave the island from Ajaccio.
I'd be interested to hear what anyone thinks of these ideas and any tips you might have on travelling from place to place. Accommodation recommendations would also be welcome.
I will be in Ajaccio for only one day and I am traveling with my grown daughters. I would appreciate any suggestions on one or two memorable things to do while I'm there.
We are leaving from Montemarcello driving to Livorno and taking an early ferry to Bastia but on a Saturday (12 September). Arriving 2 hours prior to ferry departure is it really necessary? We then drive from Bastia to Ajaccio arriving by4PM. Perhaps, we are being way too optimistic? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Me and friends will do the northern part of the GR20, but haven't decided on the direction yet. Depending of direction, we will end up in Ajaccio or (probably) Calvi at the end of the trip. We would like to rest a couple of days, meaning lying on the beach most of the day :)
Hello,
My friend and I are going to Corsica in a few weeks (in October), and are looking for cheap accomodation. I've read that there are no more hostels open in all of Corsica.. Is this still true, or does someone know of a/some hostel/s?
Thanks!
Joseph
Hello!
A friend and I want to travel to Corsica for one week this October. Could someone tell me what's the cheapest option to get from anywhere in southern France (preferably Marseille) to anywhere in Corsica?
Thanks,
Joseph
hi everybody,
I'm planning to spend 3 nights in corsica in the middle of september. which are the best places to visit? the south or the north of the island? I'm thinking to find some chambres d'hotes or gites for accommodation. can you send me some tips about the island, some nice restaurants to eat? any input will be helpful. thanks in advance.

I'm looking for some budget accommodation in Corte in late September. The cheapest I can find is 62 Euros a night for one person in a room - I'm hoping for something under 45 Euros. Can anyone suggest anything cheap ? I've checked out Hotel HR, but they are booked at that time.
This year we are holidaying at the Castelle Verde Hotel, Santa Giulia, arriving on the 31st August and would like to know if the bus service to Porto Vecchio continues after the 31st August (If so on what frequency?). Also, are there taxis available to the nearest town? We would prefer not to hire a car (as we want to do as little driving as possible) but we have a one year old son and do not want to be stranded. Any advice on this subject would be much appreciated, thanks.
We are plannng 2+ weeks in Corsica next May. We've been reading a lot, and want to see everything, but suspect it's not going to be possible, given how slow the roads are said to be. The places we'd really like to see are Cap Corse; the Balagne; the area around Evisa with all the great hiking; Corte and the interior; Filitosa and Sartene; Bonifacio.
We generally like to stay in a self-catering apartment rather than hopping from hotel to hotel.
So, my questions:
-- Where do my fellow travelers think are good bases from which to see the most of Corsica?
-- Of the places I have listed above, which would you let go if you had to let something go?
-- The self-catering apartments I have seen on the Web are all by the week; does anyone know of places that might be willing to rent for 3 or 4 days in May?
-- Are the bigger roads e.g., N193 Bastia - Ajaccio good fast roads? Is it only the small coastal and mountain roads that take much longer to drive than usual?
Hello,
I will be spending 10-12 days on vacation in Corsica from beginning of august.
We are coming on Sunday from Zagreb, Croatia to Livorno, with ferry to Corsica.
My main question is: what are the driving conditions in Italy in that time because we have to be on ferry at 18.30., according to ViaMichellin we need about eight hours for that trip but we think to go twelve hours before ferry's departure time.
Do you think this is enough?
Thank you for your answers.
I need to catch an early Sunday morning flight out of Figari airport. I'm so worried about missing my plane that I've cut short my stay in Porto Vecchio by one day so I can stay close to the airport Saturday night, and now I can't find anywhere close by. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be in Corsica for a week in late September. What would be the "must-dos" for my trip ? I am most interested in beautiful scenery, hiking, old cities, and beaches. (I realize a week is not enough, but that's all I have...).
And if anyone has a suggestion of a hike with fantastic scenery, let me know.
