What sites are recommended for Dubrovnik? We will be spending one full day there in a few weeks, coming off a cruise ship. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Who wants to explore MONTENEGRO with me on August? Posted: Sat May 30, 2009 12:16 PM UTC
Hello folks,
I am wondering if there is anyone out there who might be interested in a travel companion for Montenegro in August?
Montenegro is a perfect compact country for nature lovers and for hiking.
If we'll be 2-4 people we can rent a car. Anyway I'm flexible, hitch-hiking is an option.
Locals' companion is more than welcomed.

Bus to Dubrovnik Posted: Sun May 17, 2009 08:49 PM UTC
Hello,
I would like to know if there is any bus to Dubrovnik from Ljubuski, Bosnia & Herzegovina. I'm planning to visit Kravica Waterfalls and go directly to Dubrovnik from there. Or, do I have to go to Mostar from Ljubuski and take a bus from there?
Many thanks in advance!

Where to stay???? Posted: Mon May 11, 2009 05:21 PM UTC
Hello!
Any recommendations on where to stay in Dubrovnik? I believe we'd like to stay near Banje beach (I think that's the one near town) Or, is it better to stay near Lapad beach? Or, is it better to stay in town? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Hiring a scooter in dubrovnik? Posted: Mon May 11, 2009 10:40 AM UTC
Hi,
we are going for a weekend break in dubrovnik and we are wondering if it is worth hiring a car or scooters for the weekend or use public transport. Is parking bad for scooters too?>
We are hoping to stay in a cheaper hostel outside the walled city and wish to see the coast / islands in this time.
Thanks in advance!

Dilemma - Where to stay? Posted: Thu May 7, 2009 06:11 AM UTC
Hi,
I will be going to Dubrovnik on vacation in September for 11 days. After reading some guide books, and searching the web, I still do not know where to stay! There is a conspicuous lack of budget accommodations in Dubrovnik. Everything seems to be expensive and way overrated!
Is it recommended to stay in the Lapad area? Is it really far from the Old Town?
Any comments about Hotel LaPad and Hotel Zagreb? Are any of these hotels worth staying?
What is the best way to get to this area from the DBV airport? Are the bus lines reliable?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
I look forward to hearing from someone soon,
Thanks a million,

Bus Fare and Spot for Lunch Posted: Wed May 6, 2009 01:58 PM UTC
We are some of those cruisers who ask "What to do in 5 hours in Dubrovnik?" This site has many suggestions and answers to that question, but I do have 2 others:
1. Will we be able to pay for the tram or bus in euros? If not, is there an ATM where we can get the local currency?
2. Would someone be kind enough to recommend a non-touristy cafe for us?
Thanks so much, Marilyn

Transportation: DBV airport to downtown Dubrovnik Posted: Wed April 29, 2009 05:03 PM UTC
How much (Euros) it would be to
1) Take a taxi from DBV airport to Dubrovnik downtown?
2) Take airport shuttle from DBV to downtown?
Do taxi drivers use meters in Croatia (including Zagreb)? Do we need to pay them tip?
Thanks for any help!

Transport to/from Valamar Lacroma Resort Posted: Tue April 21, 2009 07:59 AM UTC
Hello,
Me and a friend are visiting Dubrovnik in July, and are considering staying at the Valamar Lacroma Resort (located on Iva Dulcica 34), however, we are a little worried about transport to and from the town itself, as the resort appears to be located a fair bit outside of town and we would like to see the town as well during our vacation. :)
So the question is, is there any buses running from this area to central Dubrovnik? How much would they cost and how frequently do they run?
How much, approximately, would it cost to catch a cab for this distance? (It's supposed to be about 6 km, although I'm sure any locals will know better than I whether that is correct or not.)
Any help much appreciated!
/Anna.

Private accomodation in old town or within 2 minute walk Posted: Sat March 28, 2009 03:17 AM UTC
Hi,
Myself and my boyfriend will be in Dubrovnik for 4 nights in August. I'd like to book a room in a home. Can anyone recommend a clean home either within the walls of the old town or within a 2 minute walk to the old town. We would prefer our own bathroom and air con since it is usually very hot in August.
Thanks

Leather bags market place Dubrovnik Posted: Sat March 14, 2009 06:07 PM UTC
A friend went on a cruise a few years ago that included Dubrovnik as a port of call. She brought back two inexpensive leather tote bags with designer logos from a marketplace located to the cruise lines. Since I'm preparing to take the same cruise could you provide me with information where this marketplace is located?
Thank you very much.

Dubrovnik Hotel recommendation Posted: Sun January 4, 2009 11:53 PM UTC
Greetings to all. I am a new member trying this place out for the first time. It seems to have a great deal of information.
I will be traveling to Dubrovnik later this year and would like to find a hotel near the center of town that is not very expensive. I do not need fancy services and gilt edged goodies. Just a clean room with a the usual European small bath.
Any recommendations will be appreci

Dubrovnik to Plitvice by bus Posted: Wed November 19, 2008 01:50 PM UTC
Hi,
Could anyone give me some suggestion regarding making it to Plitvice in one day?
I checked the web and it says I have to catch the 6:30 AK bus to Split, then from Split catch the 12:00 AK bus to Plitvice, to arrive in Plitvice at 17:48.
This means I have to catch the bus from Pile Gate to the Dubrovnik bus station at a godly hour of 6:00am.
I don't ming arriving in Plitvice before 9pm, I think the hotel (Mukinja) in Plitvice is still open then.
Are there any other bus companies that you could reveal to me ?

Islands and Bus Questions Posted: Tue August 26, 2008 10:33 AM UTC
Can anyone please assist with these questions:
What's the earliest time in the morning that a boat trip leaves for Lokrum Island from the Old Harbour? And what time to they return to Dubrovnik?
Are there any boat trips you can recommend that go to all three Elafiti Islands from the Old Harbour? If so, what time do they depart in the morning and return and do they stay at the Islands for a long(ish) time?
Mljet Island and National Park: what's the best boat trip to get there and do they leave from Gruz harbour or the Old Harbour or both?
How far is it to walk to Gruz harbour from the Old Town (ie. how long does it take)? And is there a large supermarket called Konzum in Gruz harbour?
Lastly, where do the Airport buses depart from in Dubrovnik? How often do they run from there and how long does it take to get to the Airport?
Thanks for any help or information!

Dubrovnik to Mostar and Montenegro in the wintertime? Posted: Fri August 15, 2008 04:35 PM UTC
Hello there,
I'll be visiting Dubrovnik in early January (not the best time, I know!) and wondered if there's an easy way to visit Mostar and Montenegro at that time. I checked the website of Atlas tours, but they stop taking people back and forth in the early Fall.
Thanks very much for your help.

Where to stay in Dubrovnik? Posted: Sun August 10, 2008 07:26 AM UTC
Pile, Ploce, Stari Grad, Gruz or Lapad?
Hi everybody,
Me and my friend is visiting Dubrovnik at the beginnig of September. We have limited time and we're going to stay for 2 days in Dubrovnik. (1 and half actually). So we would like to stay somewhere closer to the city and beaches. Which place would you recommend us to stay?
Also are those beaches free for everyone? Or do we have to pay for entering?
I've sent several emails for apartment owners that I could find from the internet. But only a few of them replied back. Don't they use the internet?
Thanks for any help,
Haluk
