Dubrovnik Best location in Dubrovnik
Posted: Mon May 19, 2008 05:20 AM UTC
I was wondering which area is a better area to actually stay while in Dubrovnik, the Old Town or Lapad area?
At the moment i'm thinking the Lapad area with the beach, bars and restaurants close by, is this correct?
Thanks

Dubrovnik Dubrovnik boat trips
Posted: Sat May 17, 2008 10:44 AM UTC
I plan to walk the walls as early in the day as possible, but it will be on a Saturday. Would it be better (less crowded), to go late on Friday afternoon? What time do they open and close this month? If I went in the morning, would I have time after this to visit an island near Dubrovnik? How long would it take to get there? Alternatively, is there a short boat trip I could do to see the city from the water?

Thank you to all who have answered my previous questions about getting from the airport to my hotel.

Dubrovnik Closest major airport to Dubronvic to fly back to NYC from?
Posted: Fri May 16, 2008 02:56 PM UTC
Hi all,

I will be touring the coast of Croatia starting from the north and ending in Dubrovnik. From there, I need a major airport to fly from back to NYC. I can get a relatively good price on Czech Airlines from Zagreb to NYC. What is the best (cheapest) way to get from Dubrovnik to Zagreb?

Alternatively, is there a better airport to fly to from Dubrnovnik for me to then fly from back to NYC?

Thanks!

What is the best way to get from Dubrovnik airport to a hotel in the city? Is it better to take a bus or a taxi, and what is the approximate cost of each? Can I change euros to the local currency at the airport? Any other tips/advice would be appreciated.

Dubrovnik E-mail addresses for Guesthouses
Posted: Tue May 13, 2008 05:06 PM UTC
I have gone to the website http://www.hostelworld.com and found quite a number of places I would like to stay. Before I make a booking I'd like to find out if I could forward a package to the place before I arrive but I can't seem to contact any of the places. The brief list of places I've considered are
Kusalo Guesthouse
Bokun Guesthouse
Begovic Boarding House
Accomodation Maria
Marko Polo
Villa Klaic
S&C Guesthouse

Any of them would be fine if I just knew I could send this package. Anyone have an idea how to contact them? I tried to Google them but they don't seem to have web pages. Thanks. Michael

Dubrovnik Suitcase Storage - Bicyclist Help?
Posted: Fri May 9, 2008 03:31 PM UTC
I have a standard Samsonite suitcase that I will unpack in Budapest and would like to forward to Dubrovnik. I understand I can ship it with Hungarian Post but need an address to ship that will store it. I'm arriving in Budapest around June 1 and will be in Dubrovnik around July 1 for about 3-4 days. Does anyone have a suggestion where I might send this. The suitcase is just about empty. Thanks. Michael

Dubrovnik Dubrovnik Nightlife
Posted: Sat May 3, 2008 10:17 AM UTC
Hi there!! My cousin and I are thinking of travelling to Dubrovnik this summer [1st week of August] for a week. We are looking for a fun-filled party place where there are lots of places to go to with other singletons like ourselves to meet. Is Dubrovnik this type of place??? Can somebody tell me more about the nightlife there in summer time?

Also, is it worth traveling out for a day somewhere near by? Montenegro perhaps?

We are going to Dubrovnik in August and would like to visit Corfu for 3 or so days. I gather there is not air link and that you still have to go to Italy to make a ferry connection.

How long would it take to drive there along the coast? How many days if we wanted to see Kotar, Butrint and other scenic spots along the way? Is it easy to cross all those borders--Croatia, Montenegro, Albania into Greece?

Dubrovnik land tours for cruise ships
Posted: Sat April 12, 2008 04:38 AM UTC
We will be in Dubrovnik for a day late in May. Instead of tours arranged by cruise ships, I prefer to find a driver and van to show us the city and surrounding area. Do such services exist?

Dubrovnik Seeking suggestions!
Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 10:02 PM UTC
In reading a few responses, I was wondering:
1. Which beach is easy to get to and how does one get there from either the cruise ship teminal or the Old City, Lapard Beach or Copacabana Beach?
2. How does one get to Lopud from the Cruise Ship terminal or the Old City, and how does one get from the ferry landing to Sunj Bay Beach? And, is it worth it?

Dubrovnik Other Sites to See?
Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 02:24 PM UTC
Ok, so I spend 2-4 hours in Dubrovnik (Walled City). The cruise I am on is docking from 07:00 to 19:00. Are there any other interesting places nearby? Other than the walled city in Dubrovnik, is there anything else that is a must see and do in Dubrovnik itself? Sorry if I sound a wee bit ignorant, but I am assuming that the city of Dubrovnik is not just the old town.

Dubrovnik More questions!
Posted: Sun April 6, 2008 05:28 PM UTC
Thanks for the answers to the last set of questions. Let me get this right,
In Lokrum there is not much to see, is that correct?
It might take anywhere from 1 hour to 2 and a half hours to see the old town?
What else would someone who is in Dubrovnik for the day (on a cruise) do or see? Are there any other sites or towns / villages of interest?
Are there any really nice beaches to visit and relax?

2. How much does the bus cost from the cruise ship terminal to the city gates? What currency do they accept?
3. About how long does it take to see the sites in the old town?

Dubrovnik Getting to Cilipi Airport from Montenegro
Posted: Wed April 2, 2008 10:46 AM UTC
I've already asked this in the Montenegro forum, but guess I might also get answers here...

My flight leaves at 14:30 on Friday from Cilipi Airport...and I'm sitting in Tirana at the moment! Not ideal...so it looks like it will be a race across Montenegro to get the flight. My question is...are there buses from Herceg Novi or Kotor to the airport? Or do I have to go straight to Dubrovnik and double back to the airport on another bus? The answer may affect my travel plans for tomorrow (overnight in Montenegro or in Dubrovnik...)

Thanks for any answers :@p

Dubrovnik Dubrovnik Port and Beaches
Posted: Mon March 31, 2008 03:43 PM UTC
I am arriving on a Royal Caribbean cruise with my 3 sons (13, 12 & 9), my parents and my husband. After a bunch of site seeing days in Italy, we were hoping to relax with fun and sun. Could you please tell me where the Cruise ship port is located and how far that would be from any beaches in Dubrovnik? Some people recommended Banje beach. Do you know of a quick and easy way to get there from the port? I also noticed Lapad Bay at Hotel Kompas was mentioned by others, but I am not sure if it is open to the public. Any information you could provide in helping us to a relaxing beach day would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Or where I can find some more information such as cost?

Dubrovnik Dubrovnik to Podgorica, Montenegro
Posted: Fri March 21, 2008 07:48 AM UTC
I wish to travel by car from Dubrovnik to Podgorica. It appears there are two routes - one down the coast to Kotor then on to Podgorica. The other inland via Niksic. Can anyone give me info on which is the better route, is the inland route mountainous, and what would be the drive time involved?

Dubrovnik Dubrovnik to Kotor - need advise!
Posted: Sun March 16, 2008 10:52 PM UTC
I'm staying at the lovely city of Dubrovnik in May for a week but also want to check out the town of Kotor in Montenegro. How far is it to drive between the two? I assume taking a bus would be a good idea? Would a day trip be enough or is an overnight say a must? I noticed it's a small city.
Any advise how to approach this would be appreciated, thanks.
