Hello,

I'm planning a trip to Croatia with a friend of mine. We are (2) single girls in our 30's from Toronto Canada. We will be visiting Trieste from August 18-21 and then off to Croatia from Aug 22-31.... We would like to know where we should stay as a "Home Base" and then be able to travel to different islands/beaches each day. We were thinking of staying in the city of Rijeka but not sure.. Can someone suggest a place..

I will be flying to Rijeka airport in September 2006. I would just like to know how I can get from the airport to Jadranovo. I can found that there is a bus service from the airport to Rijeka, but it would seem strange to have to travel over to Rijeka then back in the opposite direction to Jadranovo. Is there any easier way of getting to Jadranovo from Rijeka airport without having to travel to Rijeka first?

Dear VT'ers,

My grilfriend and I will be in Croatia from the 12th to 17th of April. We will be renting a car once we arrive in Rijeka and drive down to Dubrovnik.

A few questions: 1) Is there currently any road construction(s) going on between these two cities? 2) Which route is quicker to get to Dubrovnik, along the coast or more inland? 3) Is either route particularly safer? I've enquired from friends who've been to and driven in Croatia and they suggest driving slowly, because the roads are very winding. Any tips or suggestions?

I , too, would love to visit Rijeka. Flights are soon to start there from near where I live.

My wife and I would like to stay in reasoanbly priced accomodation.I was wondering if someone could give us some idea of costs please.

For example. cost of a reasonable hotel, a beer , a meal in a restaurant-- not a grand restaurant but justb a 'normal' type of place.

Costs on public transport and taxis. Anything at all really that would give me an insight into costs that will help me to budget.

I have always wanted to go to Croatia and managed to bag some bargain flights to Rijeka in August.
I will be going with my husband and 2 daughters aged 12 and 15. They all love 'messing about' on the water and have been won over by the pictures of kayakers moving between the islands.
I am totally lost as to where we should look for accomodation within travelling distance of the airport that would enable them to enjoy their stay in croatia to the full. We would prefer not to hire a car but are not averse to using lots of public transport. Any pointers in the right direction would be most appreciated!

It appears the only ferry from Rijeka to Split departs at 20:00. I am travelling end of May/early June and I'm wondering if I should purchase a ticket for a room on the ferry, or will it be ok to just have a deck ticket and sleep on the deck?

Also, will it be cheaper/quicker just to get a bus or a train instead?

we will be flying to Rijeka airport in a few days and we do not have any clear plans so far.
we do not have accommodation yet (we are looking for somethinglike a B&B or private rooms).

I have been reading a bit the messages of the forum and they say that Rijeka is very industrial, noisy and modern but we would prefer something quite and calm. any suggestions? which cities are worth to visit? is trieste nice?

I am thinking of maybe going to Rijeka sometime between the 16-24 of July, right now I am in Vukovar/Vinkovci doing some work but have a break coming up. A couple of questions, my grandfather emmigrated from Fuzine, a small town near Rijeka. Does anyone know anything about the town? If there is possible accomodation there? Frequent buses to Rijeka?
Also, how hard would it be to find cheap accomodation in Rijeka at this time? Any suggestions on homestays?

I am not too sure of my driving capabilities so a car is out. Also, is it possible to go on from dubrovnik to sarajevo and then on to Budapest? Also is this all a safe area to be going if you can go?

Hi all.
We're getting the Split Rijeka ferry on the 6/9/05 at 20.00.
Can anyone confirm what time this gets into Rijeka ( I believe its around 07.00) & the best way to get to the Hotel Kristal in Opatija at this time of day.

If we have to wait for transport (ie bus or train) what can we do or see in Rijeka to use up the time ?
Is a taxi an option as I believe its quite a way ?

Does anybody know where I can find timetables online for the Rijeka bus/train stations? Alternatively, does any know if there are any direct trains or buses running from Rijeka to Trieste on wednesdays. And will they be running their usual timetables on 22nd June, as it is a croatian national holiday?

My girlfriend is coming from Rijeka to meet me in Venice on 22nd June. Does anybody know of the best (quickest/cheapest/easiest) way to get there?

If not, does anybody know of any useful websites (preferably in english, but in croatian would be ok... I can just about try working my way through it, I'm learning slowly!) that give useful information on train/bus/boat timetables?

I would like to get from Rijeka to Zadar by sea on Saturday July 2nd 2005. I know Jadorlinija does not make this trip in High season. I think I can get to Silba and stay overnight, but I really need to get to Zadar direct. Can anyone help with this, Rijeka to Zadar by sea on July 2nd, 2005.

Out of full desperation me and 3 of my friends wanted to get out of the University-stress, so we simply chose the cheapest flight out of Germany.... And so we will go to Rijeka. My questions are:

1. we are poor students, so are there cheap
but nice accomodations ? (maybe camping at the
seaside ?)
2. What is ther eto do and to see ?
(cultuer/nature/relax)
3. Is it very stupid to go there in mid-march? (what is
the wheater like ?)
4. Try to describe Rijeka in 3 words :)

Hello-- I'm having a bit of trouble and could use some advice.

My friend and I are travelling from Trieste to Rijeka on June 18th to catch the ferry at 20:00 out of Rijeka. My friend is a teacher in trieste and the only option for the last bus to catch would be at 13:30 when she is still at work. I've heard of people taking cabs-- is this correct? If so how expensive is it in Euros and how long does it take? Any help is much appreciated!!!
