Hi,

Has anyone driven this stretch between Rovinj and Dubrovnik? How are the roads and how long does it take to get there? We were figuring 6 hours might do it but some have warned that it takes at least 8 hours.

Appreciate any input!

We will be taking the Ferry from Venice to Rovinj but it will not get in until around 10pm. We won't have a car (renting one the next day) and am looking for hotels that are near the Ferry since it will be late and dark. I am not looking for anything fancy, just some place to spend the night before heading out the next day. Most of the hotels I have found are either too far away or are overpriced.

I am guessing that there will be plenty of taxis at the terminal if I have to travel further away. But, I rather find a place within walking distance if possible. Thanks Paul

Hi all, I am trying to investigate my travel options from Venice to Rovinj - and then down to Split/Trojir/Dubrovnik. It doesn't seem that the ferries run in May, which seems quite odd. I get messages that say there are no travel itineraries for that date, do you think that it is too far out (since it is Jan 18) or are there times when they don't run? No need to book yet, but want to make sure we can get there by Ferry. Any ideas? Anyone taken the train down the Dalmatian Coast?? I have been before, but only by boat. Thanks!

I consider going to Croatia in September 2008 and I found the Polari Camping on the web. Has anyone any expirience with that place? Is it worth going there? Can I go there without prior boking (coming about September, 20th)?

I want to visit this town from Ljubljana but can't figure out the best way to get there and then to get from Rovinj to Split. I am planning on being there early October so I see that the ferries will not be running. Also looking to see the best way to travel from Split to Dubrovnik round-trip is. Anybody out there that can help? Thanks!

Hi for my honeymoon next year I am going to Venice, Rovinj and then on to somewhere else but don't know where yet!. I have found the details for the ferry from Venice to Rovinj and was just wondering if anyone had done the crossing before? Is it rough? I don't want to be throwing up over the side on my honeymoon on front of my new husband!
Any info would be really helful.

I will be in Venice this Aug. I would like to visit the town of Rovinj for 2 days. Is there a bus from Venice to Rovinj and how much does it cost. Also how about ferry service? Is there anything from Rovinj to Venice for my return trip?

On Rovinj tourist site 2 of the bus times arriving from Rijeka are 14.15 and 17.05. I cannot find the bus timetable or company this refers to and I have not had a reply from the tourist office in Rijeka or Rovinj. Can any one tell me departure time from Rijeka and which bus company? I am travelling on the 18th July. Do you know if the bus goes straight there or do you have to change. Also I notice a lot of buses Rijeka to Pula is it better to go to Pula and then take the bus up from Pula to Rovinj? Grateful for any asistance. Faye

we are 2 students planning to come to Croatia and we've chosen the Istria peninsiula for our journey. Rovinj seems to be one of the most nice places but I have problems searching for cheep accomodation there - the only offers I see are hotels, etc, and we'd like to spend €20 per night per person or less if possible - actually, the place we live in just needs to be clean, have a bed and a shower, nothing more :)

if anyone knows any hostels, or cheap hotels, or offers of private accomodation in Rovinj - please help!!!

Can you tell me how to find the parking area in Rovinj? Are there signs directing drivers to the car park? I can't find a map of the town. I will be driving in from the north.

I'm staying in Rovinj in late May. I cannot turn in my National car rental in Rovinj, so I'm turning it in at Porec and taking the bus from Porec to Trieste. I plan to take the 07:40 departure (or maybe that's the departure time from Rovinj) on Monday, 28 May. Please tell me the arrival time in Trieste. Is the bus station in Trieste near the train station? I will take a train that departs at 10:47. Many thanks for the help.

I'm booked into a lovely looking place in Rovinj for early/mid June, but now need to find out how to get there from Ljubljana ... on a Sunday. There doesn't seem to be a direct bus running on Sunday ... or is there?

I could always leave Ljubljana on Saturday, if need be, but any recommendations then on where to stay inbetween L and R that would be (1) pleasant, (2) (preferably) not too far from Ljubljana, and (2) somewhere I *could* get to Rovinj from on a Sunday? Thanks in advance: I love this site!

Does anyone have any experience of Kompas car rental in Croatia?

I am considering renting a car from them to pick up in Rovinj, however, accoring to emails i have received from them the office is not yet open. They say it will be completed by June and my online booking will be ok but i am not sure if this is too risky or not - considering they want payment now.

Does anyone know if they are reputable or not?

My wife and I are planning a trip to various parts of Europe this summer, and love the look of Istria. We've pencilled in four or five days in Istria, and Rovinj grabbed our eye. We're over-worked, and so travel to relax, not to party. So, old town, sitting on a beach, and visiting the neighboring towns are all we'd likely be into. So here are my related questions, and any help is most appreciated:
- If we found a place in the Old Town, how easy is it to get to beaches without a car? Do we need to stay outside the old town to enjoy the beaches without taxi and bus costs skyrocketing?
- If we wanted to visit other towns, is this quick and easy enough via bus? Any places you highly recommend?
- Or, are we wiser to spend a day per town?

My boyfriend and I are planning to go to Rovinj, Croatia sometime near the end of june. The main reason we selected that place is because of the salsa festival that is happening there... We're really looking forward to that but since neither of us have ever been to that part of the country we don't really know what the main attractions are or what are some of the places we should visit and things we should make an effort to see. While down there, we are hoping to make a trip to venice as well so i guess what i would like to know is how much the fares are or what the best way of getting around would be. We are coming form Canada so we won't have a car either... any suggestion or advice???

we need to go from Rovinj to Trieste via bus. Can you give us some information concerning departure times price and is this a public or private bus company? do we have to make reservations? where does this bus leave from in Rovinj?

I was wondering if there are any local tour operators who arrange excursions to Venice at a reasonable/special price? I checked some ferry websites and a return ticket would cost 79 Euro which is a bit pricey I think. Would appreciate any tips.

Hi every one.Does any one know the price of a taxi from pula to rovinj?

I'm flying into Split and would like to get ultimately, to Rovinj, where I'll be staying a few days, then eventually down to Dubrovnik an back to Split. What is the best form of travel for these legs? I can't seem to find any ferry that goes from Split to Rovinj. There must be something from Rovinj down to Dubrovnik? Train? Bus? I was hoping not to rent a car, but perhaps I'll need to. Any suggestions? Also wanted to get to Plivetces Park. Any suggestions for getting there by public transportation?

Wishing to rent a car one way from September 9th for a week and leave the car at Rijeka Airport - is this possible?

I was able to get a reservation at Vila Lili, Hotel Valdaliso or the Park. Since I've never been to Rovinj, I don't know much about any of these, except I don't like big, huge modern places. Do you know anything about these places?

I am trying to determine if it is possible to travel by bus on a day trip from Rovinj, Croatia to Lipica, Slovenia in order to spend the day at the Lipizzaner Stud Farm. I will be in Rovinj the week of 9-16 Sep, 2006.

I need to get to Rovinj on the 9th of July from Venice!!! But, it only looks like the Venezia Lines run on that day in the evening. Are there any other options I have? Any other ferry companies... or hydrofoils? Can you help me out please???

we are looking forward to a trip to rovinj in july and have been researching buses from pula airport to rovinj, where we are staying for a week. however, our flight arrives after the last bus and so we were wondering if anybody had information about the likely cost of a taxi for this journey?

we are also trying to book a bus from venice to rovinj. however when ringing the bus company they are saying that the bus only goes from trieste not from venice. am having lots of trouble trying to work it all out. could anyone please provide any info that would assist.
