My friend and I are visiting Split, arriving by train in the morning of Wednesday the 28th October, and hopefully have at least two days or maybe three days leaving by ferry or train on either Thursday or Friday (29th or 30th).

Both of us enjoy train travel, good (local) food and beer, and maybe meet up with local people for a walking tour.

We are staying in a hostel.

What would you recommend for a good day out by train please.

Will be in Venice for conference on October 22nd. Any way to travel by boat, catamaran, or high speed boat between the two areas? Suggestions for this travel?

Also, have alwyas, always wanted to visit Croatia, what suggestions on food, fun (am single male age 36) and good beaches....

Hi all, I wanted to ask some advice on how to get to Split from Zagreb. Would it be cheaper and faster with the train? Are there trips every hour? If I were to arrive in Split, is it near the City Center?

What are the best areas in the city center can one stay where it is charming, quiet and scenic?

If you have any recommendations to websites to pensions/hostels or B&B's which is less than 50 Euros per night, that would be great!

It would appear that Jadrolinja stops their catamaran service between Split and Hvar on 30 September. Since I have been unable to get hold of Jarolinja by phone, I was wondering if anyone knew of any other way of travelling between Split and Hvar in mid-October.

I'm trying to find info on Split Mad Night. Supposedly it's a night of live music on the Riva in mid-September.

Does anyone know the exact date of this event? Has anyone been in past years? (assuming it's an annual event).

Does anyone know if this hotel has been refurbished. Its in a good location, I stayed there in 2002 but it was very tired back then

2 x females spending 4 days in Split - any ideas on how best to spend our time?

I'm hoping to take a one week holiday in September, and would like to visit Croatia.

How much would I spend in terms of accomodation and food/drink costs? i would probably stay in lower end accomodation.

I'd also like to visit one or two of the nearby islands. Any recommendations for where to go, what to see, where to stay?

im travelling from dubrovnik to split, however i dont arrive in dubrovnik untill around 8 pm, will there still be buses to split? what should i do, cant seem to find out!!?? im goin tomoro, can anybody help????

Can anyone give me an idea of how much are items priced in kuna ie postcards, a can of coke, etc just so I have an idea of the prices. Do the stores only accept kuna? How far is the port where the cruise ships are docked if you were to go to ' Riva '? Are the shops around this area open on Sundays?

Going to Croatia in mid september, leasing a car but need to be in Pula or Porec by the 10th....Would it be a shorter trip to get to Porec or Pula? Can anyone tell me the time frame to get to each place/or time in hours to reach each place from split. I understand they have put a new freeway thru....Thanx in advance

My fiance and I are traveling to Croatia the end of July for our Honeymoon. Should we stay in Split or Trogir? I have heard that Split is more "touristy," which could be good or bad. We will visit both (we are renting a car), but I am trying to decide which city would be a better as "home base" and which would be better as a day trip.

Am flying into split on 23rd july. We wanted to spend a few nights in Split and surrounding islands then get to venice a week later. How can we get to Venice? Can we get a ferry from Split or what is the best way of traveling to venice?

Hotel Peristil AT the Palace does NOT have parking facility for its customers. Where can we park over night safely and with reasonable cost?

While there are limitedparking spaces just south of the Palace, we do not know 1) how easy (mid-week in May, during the day or evening) to find a space there; 2) if it is safe to park a rental car overnight, and
3) and how much it would cost per night/day.

Any quick help will be highly appreciated (we will be there in a few days)!

hi there,im going to be travelling to split after exit and want to know if there is any decent nightlife in split or on the island close bye. will also be going to soundwave festival and want to know how far Zadar is from split. would like a mixture of nightlife for when we want to relax and also when we want to start to party again. many thanx!

I am going to split for a period from may to july.......if anyone is going then please add me on his/her account as I an searching for a companion with whom i can wander about the place!!!

I will arrive in Split on January 26th and hang out until the 28th. On the 28th I need to get to Sarajevo. I am thinking of renting a car for that journey. Does anyone recommend a good car rental service, know how long is the drive, and have an idea about the cost of doing this? Will I need an international drivers license? I've looked a bit on the Internet for answers, but of course I'm interested in thoughts from those who have rented cars in Split to be returned in Sarajevo. Also, I've found some decent looking apartments for rent during those days, but again ... I'd be interested in anyone's personal recommendations.

Crazy as I am, I am planning to travel from Treviso all the way to Split on 23 Jan.

I thought I could catch the 1:30pm bus from Trieste to Split and arrive in Split at 11:45pm.

How early do I have to leave Treviso to get to Trieste?

Any alternative route that can get me to Split earlier?

Hi all! I am planning to go from trieste to split by bus on 19 Nov. I have checked the schedule of SAF and Autotrans.

My first question is, as they've only got one bus travelling per day, do I need to book the bus ticket? If yes, how can I make a booking? (As I didn't find any booking tips)

Furthermore, according to the bus schedule, the bus will arrive at Split at around 4:30 in the morning. My second question is, is there any suggestion for things to do at 4 am in Split?

And my last question is quite stupid, as I am a level one traveller, I am not so sure how can I exchange the currency in Split when I first arrive in Split at 4 in the morning.

Hi, i am visiting split form 18. till 21.oktober for the sedcond time. Since we are only there for 3 days i would love to plan shopping a day. When are the openinghours of the shops in the centre? In holland most shops open on monday from 13.00 o'clock and close at 17.00 o'clock on saterday.

Hi everyone, small question: on our way to Croatia, our tent got "killed" by a Hungarian storm and so now we are in Split we are looking for replacement, we are looking for a tent and cooking equipment (camping gas). Has anybody have any idea where I could find a specialist camping shop in Split? Haven't found one as yet....Thanks

I need to plan my transportation from Montenegro (Podgorica or Tivat or Kotor) to Split, Croatia. The distance is relatively small, and by airplane or ferry is too complicated and expensive.
Can anyone tell me if there is a a bus service from Montenegro to Croatia (Split)?

I was wondering if anyone has any specific nightlife recommendations for Split from the 16th until the 18th of August (saturday-monday)?
I've found a few recommended clubs and bars but also that many places are closed during the summer months. Are there any good clubs or bars to go to during these days or is it best to go to Bacvice beach? Also, is the nightlife interesting on the sunday and monday?

The group I'm going with consists of 25 year old students and has varying musical preferences...

Which public transport would you recommend to get from Split to dubrovnik (or vice versa)? How long will this journey take and what about the price?

Or do you think that renting a car is the best way to get from Split to Dubrovnik?

Hi there. Me and my wife will be on a trip to croatia next September. We will visit Split, Dubrovnik and we will stay also in Brac island for 3 nights. We were thinking to spend a day in Hvar if possible.. Is there a ferry from Brac to Hvar? If so, how long does it take to get there?

2 - does anyone knows what is the cheapest way to rent a car in Splitdowntown? Is it cheaper to rent it locally "in loco", or rent it before going trough the internet? Eatherway, what is the cheapest place?

We arrive at Split airport at saturday 28. june, 18.00ish. Destination Hvar Grad. I've looked around and found that the last ferry to Hvar (Stari Grad) leaves at 20.30. Are there any other catamarans going to Hvar Grad any later than the one that leaves at 18.00? And if the ferry is the only solution, is it recomended/necesary to book tickets before we get there? Were not bringing a car.

Hi, we would like to make one day trip from Split to Hvar island. But as i looked to Jadrolinija ferry schedule, there are mainly ferries from Split in evening, and back to Split in morning. Is there any ferries in early morning from split, and what is the latest one from any town of Hvar island to Split. Thanks
