Mozambique Flights from JoBurg to Inhambane
Posted: Sun June 14, 2009 11:30 PM UTC
Hey All!

I will be in Johannesburg on the 25th of July. I wanted to catch a flight to Inhambane. Is this something that I need to book well in advance? Or is it something I can do in JoBurg a few days before travel. So far all I can find is LAM flights for about $500 US. Very expensive! Any other options out there.

Also, I would appreciate any info on where to stay in Tofo. Something on the beach in the middle of everything (under $100 US per night)

Thanks!

Mozambique looking for reasonable accomodation in Bazaruto Archipelago
Posted: Mon August 25, 2008 09:06 PM UTC
We´re a party of four travelling to, amongst other locations, to Mozambique in November. We´d love to stay on the Bazaruto Archipelago, out on the islands. Is it possible to find reasonable priced accomodation here? We´re on a budget. Or is staying on the mainland in Vilanculo our best option, if so, any pleasant, reasonable accomodation suggestions on the beach?
thanks!

Pemba Pemba , Mozambique.
Posted: Sun April 20, 2008 02:48 AM UTC
The Government of Mozambique is making Pemba look like a paradise through their advertisements, yet it is not very popular, Why ?

1. Is it because, airline connections are poor?
2. Is personal safety the issue?
3. The facilities are not adequate?
4. Is it the language barrier ?
5. Or any other reason ?

Mozambique Zimbabwe to Mozambique Itinerary Help
Posted: Tue March 11, 2008 06:46 AM UTC
Hi All,

I'm currently in Zimbabwe, spending time near Mutoko, Zimbabwe. I'm looking to spend two or more weeks on the Mozambique coastline in May. Does anyone have any advice on where to spend that period (Biera seems the likely starting point) and how to get there? All I'm looking for is nice beaches and quiet settings without spending too much cash. Is it possible to rent a car and beach hop from Biera?
Oh and my Portuguese is minimal...

Thanks,

adam

Maputo johannesburg-maputo
Posted: Sat February 16, 2008 11:04 PM UTC
Hi,

I would like to know if there's a bus service (instead of the train) from Johannesburg to Maputo and, if yes:
1. where I can get it (directly from the airport?)
2. where I can find a timetable
3. there can be problems at the border with the police, even if on a public transport.

Moreover, I read in a reply to the two sisters that it takes only two hours to reach the border. I was told there should be 7 hours in total Johannesburg- maputo. So it means that it takes 5 hours from the border to Maputo?

Thanks a lot.

We want to fly into Bazaruto and hire a car from this area and to drive to the Kruger National Park and then on to Johannesburg. I can not find anywhere online that rents cars around Vilanculos/Bazaruto. Can anyone advise if it is possible to rent a car and also if we would be able to drop it off in South Africa? Does anyone know how wong it would take to drive to the SA border?
Thanks

Mozambique Scuba Instructors travelling Moz by 4 x 4
Posted: Wed May 9, 2007 07:46 PM UTC
Myself and three of my friends, all of which experianced scuba instructor's will be travelling through South Africa probably from cape town north through mozambique starting this october through may possibly. We were thinking about buying a used 4 x 4 or two for our travels. I was wondering what anyone thought about travelling this way through these countries versus public transportation. Are roof tents safe in these countries if you stay out of the cities? Do you get a huge discount or pay more to get into the game parks with your own vehicle vs. paying a guide company? Is it easy to find backpackers etc. to share the expenses to give them rides? Where would diving be most recommended, as well as what game parks or parts of them are the best? Would it be possible to teach freelance instruction in either country, as we can teach new divers anywhere we have swimming pool like conditions as well as experianced divers more advanced diving as long as we can do a shore dive into open water or hire a boat? Any suggestions about any of these ideas or interest in joining our crusades let me know. I am just starting to do research now, so any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thank You, Topher

Provincia de Cabo Delgado Tanzania-Mozambique border
Posted: Sun April 22, 2007 07:24 PM UTC
I am planning to head south from Tanzania into Mozambique by the Mtwara border crossing in June. Is there a regular ferry across the river at that point? I've heard you have to wade across! Is it deep, dangerous? How are the roads in Cabo Delgado (and southernb Tanzania) at that time of year? Passable, possible, impossible? And the local transport?
Any advice, suggestions most welcome.
