Zagreb Zagreb in March
Posted: Tue February 12, 2008 10:14 AM UTC
Hi,

My four friends and I are coming to Zagreb in mid-March and were wondering what kind of place it is at that time of year? Is it very quiet compared to the summer? We are set to come from a sunday-thursday...would it be better to come during a weekend? or are things happening during the week as well?

Any recommendations for our first in Zagreb?? Any help would be much appreciated!!

Thanks,

Jon

Am going in mid-December on my own... So wonder where I can gather the cultural feel of the city. Soak in a bit of nightlife and outdoor fun?
Any other nearby towns worth visiting? Do most people speak English?

All advice is very much appreciated... Thanks

Zagreb Transportation options and details
Posted: Sun August 19, 2007 09:20 PM UTC
I've never been to Zagreb and will be there March 2008 with my mother. We would love to also visit Bled for a day. Is it possible to take a day trip to Bled from Zagreb? What is the best form of round trip transportation and a ball-park idea of cost? I have no idea how far it is and would love to get an idea of the scheduled times of departure and arrival. I realize prices go up and schedules change, but I'm just trying to figure out if this is even feasible while traveling with my 86 year old mother. Your response is appreciated. WISEMAL

Zagreb Car rental in Zagreb
Posted: Fri July 27, 2007 01:30 AM UTC
I will arrive in Zagreb by train and would like to rent a car to drive to Motovun and back. Could someone suggest a rental agency that is near the train station or provides shuttle service from there? I found one at Hotel Westin, Krsnjavoga 1 (Nationalcar) that seems to be close. Europcar lists an address of PIEROTIJEVA 5, but I can't find it on the map. There are lots of rental agencies at the airport, but it seems to be a hassle to get there from the train station.

Zagreb Train Ticket for sale, one-way Zagreb to Budapest good for 30 days
Posted: Sat July 7, 2007 04:01 AM UTC
Hi all, I have a train ticket from Zagreb to Budapest for sale I had to buy the round trip Budapest-Zagreb-Budapest because it was cheaper than the one way, but will only use the Budapest to Zagreb half of the ticket. The ticket is valid for 30 days from when I bought it and that was Friday July 6th. Email me if you have an interest and we can talk price then, but much cheaper than buying the ticket from the station..

Cheers,

Zagreb Restaurant for a very special dinner - suggestions needed
Posted: Fri June 15, 2007 03:01 PM UTC
Hi All,
My entire family (parents, sister, bro-in-law and 2 year old neice) and I will be in Zagreb for 3 days (Jule 26th through 28th night). The primary reason for our trip is to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday. On the last night, Saturday July 28th, I want to plan a good dinner for her at a nice restaurant in Zagreb. It doesn't have to be the most fancy or expensive restaurant - the experience has to be memorable.

She is vegetarian which automatically limits the choices of restaurants. Can anyone suggest a place that goes above and beyond to make an experience memorable. I want to contact the restaurant ahead of time and plan and make reservations.

Any suggestions/ ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Zagreb Train or bus from Zagreb to Novi Sad
Posted: Thu May 10, 2007 12:25 PM UTC
I have been looking at the forums but none seem to specifically have information that I need so apologies if I have missed it.
My boyfriend and I are spending a week in Croatia from 3rd July:
Dubrovnik for 2 nights
Ferry to Hvar (10am - 4.30pm), stay for 4 nights
Split for 1 night (hopefully couch surfing here)
From Split we will get the overnight train (22.45-6.30am) to Zagreb.

We then need to get to Novi Sad (to go to the Exit Festival!) that day if possible by either bus or train. Does anyone know:
How long each takes?
How much each costs?
How regularly they go.

Or, is it possible to get a train from Split to Novi Sad?

Also, can anyone tell me how much it costs to get a sleeping car from Split to Zagreb?
Many thanks
Margeux

Zagreb Bikes in Zagreb - Buying/Dismantling
Posted: Fri May 4, 2007 12:10 PM UTC
How much could one expect to pay for a bike in Zagreb? Not looking to spend too much, but it needs to get me all the way Turkey (I'll be following the coastline), where I will donate it to someone I like before flying home.

Also, how easy is it to dismantle a bike for when one needs to take it on a train or bus? Does anyone know any good resources for a rookie like me? I'm not exactly mechanically minded, so might need to research some basics before departure!

Any help much appreciated! Thank you.

Zagreb Zagreb to Trieste by train
Posted: Sun April 29, 2007 04:47 AM UTC
Hello, we are ending an OAT tour in Zagreb in June at the Regent Esplanade Hotel, and we want to travel by train to Trieste and then on to Italy. I understand the main train station is very close to the hotel, but we do not know how to get tickets. I have checked the hznet website and it appears there are trains that run to Trieste and the trip would be 5 or 6 hours, but it also appears I cannot purchase tickets in advance. We want to be assured that what we want to do is indeed possible, and would also like to have confirmed tickets before our trip. What do you think is the best way to proceed?
