Several hours in Zagreb Posted: Sat October 3, 2009 03:36 AM UTC
Dober dan, My friend and I are travelling through Croatia and eventually want to end up in Split. Our journey from Ljubljana will be by train and I think we'll be arriving about midday.
We would like some advice, about how best to spend a few hours in this city as we believe there is an overnight train onward to Split.
Last year another friend was travelling through Croatia between Budapest and Ljubljana and had a stop in Zagreb and said what a wonderful place it was.
It would be nice to meet some local people, and receive some local advice on where we could have a good inexpensive CROATIAN meal in the city.
Puna hvala
Perhaps there are walking tours?
What are the trains like going to Split, will we need to book?

Arriving in Zagreb from Slovenia Posted: Mon September 14, 2009 08:04 AM UTC
Hi all, I wanted to ask some advice on how to get to Zagreb from Ljubjlana, Slovenia.
Is it cheaper and faster with the train or the bus? Are there many trips in one day?
What are the best areas in Zagreb city center can one stay would you recommend to stay?
If you have any recommendations to websites to pensions/hostels or B&B's which is less than 50 Euros per night, that would be great!
Thank you for the help!

Need Help Please Posted: Wed July 29, 2009 04:09 PM UTC
We are trying to get an ambulance to transport my family member from Zadar to Zagreb, she hurt her back and has to lay down and we are trying to fly her home. Can anyone recommend and ambulance service locally that might do this transport and if you could call them and inquire as to cost, it would really help us out. I know that if your family needed me in the USA I would gladly help!
thanks

transportation from Zagreb airport to the city Posted: Sun May 31, 2009 04:35 AM UTC
I am arriving to ZAG at midnight on a Saturday. If anyone knows answers to the following, it is much appreciated:
1. Coatian Airline bus that runs every 30 min - does it run 24 hour a day? Can I pay in Euro instead of Kuna?
2. Will I be able to exchange money for Kuna that late at the airport?
3. Where exactly in the city does the bus stop? (I eventually need to get to Regent Esplanade hotel).
thanks!

Anyone for Plitvice Lakes National Park? Posted: Tue May 26, 2009 04:34 PM UTC
I'm going to be in Zagreb for a couple of months and during some weekend I would like to visit the Plitvice Lakes National Park (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plitvice_Lakes). Its only about 1.5 hours from Zagreb.
So if anyone is interested in taking this trip together, let me know. We can work out the details later. I'm a 28 yr old guy, extremely well traveled.

Zagreb to Ljubljana, Slovenia: Buy train ticket in advance necessary? Posted: Wed April 29, 2009 06:09 PM UTC
Thanks for those of you who helped me with online train schedule/price.
We will be in in Zagreb for two days, then take a train to Ljubljana (departure mid-morning/noon) on a Wednesday. Do we need to buy the ticket in advance for the train we want to take? If yes, how many days in advance? Or we only need to buy it before we take the train? There are only 2 non-stop trains we like to take, do not want to miss the chance.
Thanks for any help!

Zagreb to Split by night train Posted: Sun April 19, 2009 04:22 PM UTC
Hi,
I am searching on the Net more information of the night train that leaves Zagreb to Split.
I now that there is one train (D825) that leaves Zagreb at 22:55 and arrives in Split at 06:55.
It has sleeping cars but I cannot find out if there arte couchettes or just berth cabins... I also didn't find anything about prices or reservations on line...
Since my trip is in the middle of June, I wonder if it is too risky to go without reservation...
Thanks,
Tatiana

Transit time Posted: Thu March 19, 2009 03:24 AM UTC
Looking at an airfare to purchase - only showing 50 minutes between international arrival and flight to Split. Can't find anything better.
Is it a risk. If I miss it, the next flight will leave in 6 hours.

Zagreb Bus Station - Station Fees Posted: Sun March 15, 2009 04:10 PM UTC
Hello.
When browsing the website of the Zagreb bus station, I noticed a section mentioning that station fees are surcharged on top of the ticket prices. I know that this is very common in Serbia, so I assumed that Croatia follows suit. However, I also read that there are different fees applied to travelers: 2,30kn to Croatians, 7kn to neighboring foreigners, and 22kn to everybody else. Reservation is also subject to a 2,30kn charge.
I wanted to ask you if this is true for all buses that use the bus station, including the suburban ones, like the one to Samobor. It seems ridiculous to me to pay twice the ticket price because of station fees. If that is the case, what about the Crnomerec bus station? Does it also charge station fees and are they as high as those at the main station?
Thank you very much

Hello,
I am looking for the prices of the buses connecting Zagreb to Samobor. I found the website of the company that operates the route, but the pricing scheme

is based on some zones that I could not find anywhere in the website. Could anybody help me with that?
Thank you in advance

From Spain to Zagreb Posted: Sun March 1, 2009 11:14 PM UTC
Hello, I'm trying to plan a combination trip to Spain and Croatia, but I'm having a hard time finding a good transportation option between the two countries that doesn't require an overnight train ride or several flight connections. I have read that Croatia Airlines flies from Zagreb to Barcelona, but their website keeps giving an error message when I try to enter that option. Does anyone know if a direct (or one-layover) flight is possible from one city to the other?
Thanks!

Busses: Plitvice Park to Zagreb Posted: Wed February 4, 2009 08:45 PM UTC
Aloha! Any advice on catching a bus back from Plitvice to Zagreb ? Which park entrance is best? I understand busses won't stop if they are full. What time of the day are busses less full and a better chance of getting on?
I plan to be in Croatia the first week in July this year and want to do a day trip from Zagreb to Plitvice and return.
Thanks for any hints.

Bled - Ljubjlana - Zagreb - Budapest Posted: Thu November 20, 2008 07:22 AM UTC
I need to get from Bled to Budapest.
From what I searched so far it is
1) Bled - Ljubjlana (bus) - 2 hours
2) Ljbjlana - Zagreb (train) - 2.5 hours
3) Zagreb - Budaptest Keleti station (train at 15:46) - 6 hours.
Anywone knows how much it will cost me?
Or if there is a better route?
I would much prefer it there is a bus that takes me straight from Bled to Budapest.

Zagreb - Novi Sad by train Posted: Mon August 18, 2008 12:21 PM UTC
Hi Vt Members.
I had allready some important information about this, but i ned some more.
As the bus connection is only possible during the day (i want to travel at night), my only chance is to go by train. There's on departing at 00.15 from the Zagreb Glavni Kolod. Is this the major train station? is it close to city center? if not, can you tell me how to get there? (from the airport and from the center).
Thanks in advance and all the best for you, good trips

Transport from Zagreb to Graz Posted: Sun August 10, 2008 02:06 PM UTC
Hello,
I am planning a trip to Croatia in two weeks. I've travelled a lot around the region, but this time we are going by car and flying in and out of Graz, Austria. Our flight leaves on the 30th and we will be in Hvar until the 28th. We are thinking to drive from Hvar to Zagreb (ugh) on the 28th and if possible drop off the car in Zagreb and take a train or bus to Graz that same night - My question is two fold...How long do you think the ride will be from Hvar to Zagreb? and does anyone have information about getting from Zagreb to Graz? All the connections I have come across are too early and the trains in the evening all have 4 changes and take 8+ hours.
Hvala!!
