Varna Constanta to varna via bus
Posted: Tue June 23, 2009 11:21 PM UTC
Hi,

When I was in Mangalia in 2007, there was a minibus that went from Mangalia to Varna with one stop somewhere in between. It was not terribly expensive (35lei). I am going back there this summer, and I have not been able to find any information on the net about it. Even the last time I had no information, I ended up getting the details when I was in Mangalia. I will be leaving from Constanta and going to Varna. A week later I will be returning from Varna to Mangalia.

Is the minibus service still running between the 2 cities? And would anyone know the schedule for it? I cannot find any information anywhere. While i have read other constructive information about transferring a few times from place to place, I would rather get a more direct route like i had found in 2007.

Thanks

1) is it possible to visit Bachkovo Monatery and Dryanoro Monastery in the same day
2) how to get to Eastern Rhodopes? Any guided day trip for that?

3) bus schedule running from Plovdiv to Veliko Tranovo.

Thank you very much.

Bulgaria Thracian Tombs
Posted: Sat June 13, 2009 09:50 PM UTC
Hello,
Anybody knows if there is a website (a kind of official website) related to the Thracian Tombs? There is not a lot of information on VT and some tips are contradictory between them. I saw an exhibition about Thracians in Barcelona three years ago and I was very impressed by their cultural and artistic achievement and especially by those tombs, I would like to visit some of those tombs.
Many thanks,

Sofia funky places in sofia
Posted: Sat June 13, 2009 04:51 AM UTC
hello
I shall be in sofia for one week end of june and I am very interested in having some names and addresses (if possible, please!) of very funky places where the funky people of sofia are gathering, young and crazy aartists and the less commercial and more urban contemporary art galleries, cafffes, etc.

I had once seen on some french tv a reportage about a great places somehwre in sofia with a library, ateleir d'artiste, caffe, and a lot of green trees and herbs around...a place that thebartists themselves have established and they are running...does anyone know about this place? there are places like that I ma interested in, without being too underground, of course, not really in the squatting or "too alternative" culture..

Thank you a lot!!!

Burgas Burgas - how to get to bus from airport
Posted: Wed June 10, 2009 08:03 PM UTC
Hi! We are thinking of travelling to Istanbul through Burgas. I have read earlier notes about busses for 20 euros. Do these still work? And if yes, how much does it cost, how much time does it take, how complicated is it to get from the airport to the bus? And where can I get more specific info about the busses? Thank you!!!!

Stara Planina Botev
Posted: Sun June 7, 2009 08:57 PM UTC
I hope to make a bit of hiking in Bulgaria. It looks that Botev area is almost on my way. I think about the route from Kalofer to Kilistar (or the other way- if you recommend it. I will be with my wife and two teenage children.
I'm not sure if we go on the peak.I have seen TV- instalations and the apshalt road on Botev and it bothers me a bit.
I saw some posts about mountain hostels on http://www.bulgarian-mountains.com/. Unfortunately my brotherhood Bulgarian language knowledge is very limited.
Have you got experience with hizas in Botev area?Which ones do you recommend which not and why? Which ones have the best conditions or an atmophere? In which hizas I don't need a sleeping bag (I don't want to carry a heavy rucksack? Will I get some food in hizas?

Bulgaria Bulgaria Self Drive
Posted: Mon June 1, 2009 08:33 AM UTC
Hi, 7 friends and I are travelling to Kiten, near Primorsko on the Black Sea Coast in the second week of July (4th-11th). We land in Sofia on the morning of Saturday 4th July and are renting two cars for the week. we plan to drive from Sofia to Kiten, keep the car for the week, then drive back.

My question is how is driving in Bulgaria? We're British, so will we have trouble understanding the signs etc? I believe one of the motorway's is still under construction, so will that affect us? Any adivce would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot.
