| Sunny Beach | Can anyone tell me the location of lion hotel?? Posted: Wed May 14, 2008 03:06 PM UTC
Hi guys,
Right I was wondering does anyone know where the lion hotel is situated? If so can you tell me the nearest hotel to it. Ive been to bulgaria in 2005 but the hotel wasnt there then. The nearest info I can find is that its in the north side of sunny beach. Can anyone tell me if it is near the bus stop by the Kuban hotel, thats where the balkan bus is dropping us off on the 30/5 and we havent got a clue where to go from there. Help!! Thanks Sian XX |

| Sofia | Sofia/Belgrade Advice Posted: Mon May 5, 2008 09:18 PM UTC
Hey All,
I am an American student hoping to travel to travel from nothern greece through Bulgaria, Seria, and Montenegro to eventually take a ferry back to Italy. I had a couple questions I hope someone could help me with. 1. I have around 5 days to make it back to Italy and was wondering what places you'll recommend I should stop in along the way. I was thinking Sofia and Belgrade but am open to pretty much anything as long as i can get there by train or bus. 2. I would be traveling by myself, are there any places in Serbia or Bulgaria that I should defintely avoid going alone? Finally, I will be doing all this starting May 22nd, so if anyone else has a similar plan and wanted to meet up, let me know. Thanks, Bruce |

| Bulgaria | Discovering Bulgaria in May Posted: Sat May 3, 2008 09:17 AM UTC
Hello everybody
On this monday 5th of may I will be flying to Bulgaria (Sofia) for 7 days. My hosts live in Sofia, but they don't speak Bulgarian, and don't go out much. I was thinking about travelling on my own during the day to see the nice old villages around Sofia. Are there some easy public transportation from Sofia to reach the main touristic areas ? Is that ok if I travel on my own (I mean a girl alone) ? And what about going out at night alone in Sofia ? Thus, I don't really speak Bulgarian :) Some english, spanish and a little bit of german... Do you think this might be very difficult to get understood ? Should I buy a French / bulgarian dictonnary ? Thank you for all your tips !! I'm willing to discover this new country :) Nathy |

| Bulgaria | Do you know this guest house Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 04:47 PM UTC
My wife and having the holiday of a lifetime touring Bulgaria for 17 days this August. We are starting in Sofia and need a hotel for two days. Someone has said the Sofia Guesthouse at 27 "Patriarch Evtimiy" Blvd. Their prices seem very reasonable at 30eu per night for a double room. Does anyone know anything about them or can you recommend somewhere else at a similar price.

Hello all,
I will be in Varna from May to September, and amongst some other things, while I am there I would like to learn Bulgarian, both written and spoken. Has anyone any advice about where to sign up for classes or language courses?? Anyone know what are the rates? Maybe there may be some private tutors that I cannot find on the web available also. Anyway, whatever advice you may have is welcomed. regards, FB |

| Bulgaria | The Danube Bike Path Posted: Fri April 4, 2008 08:38 AM UTC
I and my husband are cycling along the beautiful river Danube from the spring in Schwarzwald, Germany to the Black Sea, one week every year. Last year we reached Ruse so we will start there in May and do the lasting distance to Tulcea.
Last year we had difficulties finding hotel rooms as there are not so many big cities along the Danube. Has anybody done the Danube path through Bulgaria and can give some tip of places we must visit and good accomodations along the river. We would like to stay in clean hotels/bed and breakfasts where we can have breakfast. We cycle at about 80 km/day. When we look in the Internet for the name of the town and the word hotel we only get big booking sites where you only find very fashionable hotels and not the small local accomodations that we really want. is there a phone card that can be purchased that will work automatically in public phones in bulgaria and many other countries in europe.
by automatically i mean you do not have to know a certain code for the city where you are making the call from. or need to call a certain number to use the phone from certain cities. |

One of those words missing in most 'tourist words' guides :-)
How do I ask for a telephone card and where do I buy it, please? Oh yes, that is taking it for granted that public phones do use cards... Or do they use coins? Are they easy to find? Thanks! |
