Mostar which route?
Posted: Wed August 26, 2009 07:22 AM UTC
I'm driving from Dubrovnik to Mostar in late October.

I had planned to drive up the coast via Neum amd then take the E73 inland.

However, viaMichelin recommends going via Trebinje and Gacko. Looks longer to me, plus the road from Gacko to Mostar is lower grade than the others.

I know the Neum route will involve 3 border crossings as opposed to 1 on the Gacko road, so maybe that's the explanation.

Any thoughts or experiences out there?

Mostar Transportation
Posted: Wed June 17, 2009 04:57 AM UTC
Hello everybody,

I would like to know what is the best way to have a day trip in Mostar.

1) From Split, take the bus to Mostar and return to Split. or

2) From Split, take the bus to Mostar and go directly to Dubrovnik.

My routing will be in Split, Mostar and Dubrovnik but I am not sure whether I can connect the bus to Dubrovnik after a day trip in Mostar.

Thanks

Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sutjeska National Park
Posted: Mon September 22, 2008 04:32 PM UTC
Hi there, I'm new to travelling but i'm prepared to try anything (especially accompanied by more experienced friend). We're planning to go to Sarajevo then explore the Sutjeska National Park during the last week or two of October this year (2008). By all accounts this is an amazing part of Europpe to explore however I have found it very difficult to find any detailed information to help us estabish what is possible and how best to prepare for it. In particualr can anyone suggest places that may have information (in english) on transportation links in the area (we'll be backpacking), locations of key attractions, accommodation and its availability (we're planning on not taking camping equipment) and any advice on climbing Maglic.

Thanks in advance,

Kev

Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Help! - question about getting a visa to Bosnia in the US
Posted: Fri August 22, 2008 07:42 AM UTC
Hi! I'm Mexican and hoping to travel to Bosnia with my boyfriend (who is from there). I was irresponsible and didn't check with enough time for visa requirements, and it turns out I need one to go (my ticket is for travel in a little bit over three weeks). I am in the US studying, so I would need to go to Washington, D.C. Since I would be staying at my boyfriend's family house in Sarajevo, I was told I need a letter from a citizen over there. Some distant relative is trying to help us, but apparently the letter will take ten days to be issued, and I fear not getting it on time (the documents were submitted today, August 21st). I am seeking advice either from people that had to get their visa in DC (it would be helpful to know what their experience was), and if anybody has experience with getting that invitation letter going faster. The people whom I talked to in the embassy in DC were really friendly, but clearly stated that I cannot apply as a tourist. I would have to give them an invoice of payed hotel for the duration of the trip, and I guess now I've told them that I plan to stay at the family house, so I don't know if they would deny me a visa if I try to get a hotel room in case the letter doesn't make it on time. I would just hate to lose my ticket because my invitation letter will take 10 days to be issued! Any advice will be *greatly* appreciated.

Maglaj Sarajevo - Maglaj
Posted: Wed July 23, 2008 09:09 PM UTC
Hi, I'm flying out to Sarajevo on Tuesday morning and hoping to get from Sarajevo airport to Maglaj on arrival. I was wondering if anybody knew if it was possible to get a bus/train direct from Sarajevo to Maglaj (I know there's a train that continues onto Budapest but I won't be there in time for that). If not then any other method would be appreciated. I believe I may be able to get a bus to Zenica first and then onto Maglaj but I am still unable to get this confirmed...HELP!!

During a trip to Croatia this fall I would really love to plan a day trip to Mostar, however my traveling companion is concerned about our safety in traveling to as well as while visiting Mostar. Everything I have read leads be to believe it is safe. She was on board until a former military friend of hers told her we "absolutely shound not go". Does anyone have recent information on the safety of this area?

Mostar cost of living
Posted: Mon July 16, 2007 07:46 PM UTC
Hi guys, I should be moving in Mostar for an internship around Sept/Oct for 3 months, more or less. Could you give me an idea of the cost of living now? like, renting & eating. I'm not looking for extra luxury things, it's an unpaid internship, so won't be too fussy, but I need to get an idea for budgeting my money.

cheers!
