Fes Female musician wanting to visit Fes Sacred Music Festival in June
Posted: Mon March 24, 2008 01:27 AM UTC
Hello I am a female musician in my 50s considering visiting during the Sacred Music Festival in June.1. How safe is it to travel there alone as a female, and how safe is it to openly admit to being American? It seems that Fes is a very tolerant place, but Americans are hated all over the world right now!2. I am also wondering about the cost of concert tickers, rooms, etc.I'm from the Oregon Coast, so not used to hot weather, but encouraged by the fact that many of the concerts are at night when it is cooler.3.Do they provide western chairs during the concert for sitting,4. and are there opportunities for women to connect with other musicians from around the world for jam sessions?5. Anyone know a better place for a female world musician to connect with other musicians from around the world?( I play harp, many flutes, and sing) Thanks for any help!

Posted: Mon January 28, 2008 12:39 PM UTC
Hi,
two questions on short notice as I will soon be in Fes for a few days:
Besides the viewpoints near the Merinid Tombs, can you recommend any panoramic viewpoints in Fes ?
Which parts of the Souk are the most interesting in your opinion ?

Fes Hammam visit in Fez
Posted: Sat April 14, 2007 05:27 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm going to Fez, Morocco in a week and I've heard that it has incredible traditional hammans but I'm a little bit afraid of going on my own and am not sure how to find them. Can anyone give me any good tips or do you know if there are any travel companies that could organise a trip for me?

Thanks!

Hello
My husband and I will be in Fes from 20th December to 26th December. We met Said Guissi earlier this year, and would like to know how we can contact him. Ideally we wish to know if we can attend a Sufi evening in Fes with the Aissawa. Thanks!

Fes Live music in Fes?
Posted: Tue November 28, 2006 08:31 AM UTC
My partner & I are going to be escaping xmas in Fes for 5 days - 23rd-28th December. We've been downloading Moroccan music to get a feel of it, and we'd love to hear some live music while we're there. Does anyone know where we might find some? We've never been to Morocco before and I realise that my partner as a male will be able to go to places I can't, but we do like to do everything together if possible.

Fes Hammans + General advicw
Posted: Sat October 28, 2006 09:44 AM UTC
Hi

We're vsisiting Fes in February as part of a package trip. We have the whole day to ourselves to explore.

I've experienced a Hamman in Instanbul - nice pampering, a spa in Budapest - medicinal rather than pampering and would like to experience a local Hamman in Fes - any ideas as to where, opening hours and costs - and advice please

We only have a day in Fes - can anyone please recommend the best sights to see and any restaurants - we need to have lunch and an evening meal. Husband is a diabetic supported with insulin - what type of food is available please. Is it safe in the medinas when it is dark - does it come to life with fire eaters etc.

All advice greatly appreciated. Thanks Ladymarian

Fes Trouble with Fez hotels
Posted: Fri April 22, 2005 02:33 PM UTC
Hallo,

I'm trying to book a medium hotel in the Ville Nouvelle for three nights at threend of May/beginning of June in Fez and so far everywhere I've tried has been booked up. Does anyone have any suggestions of hotels I might try in the EUR30-50 range? Have I left it too late (slightly over a month in advance)? Is there some kind of special event going on, or am I saying the wrong thing - so far everyone I've spoken to has told e they're full without even having to check.
Thanks a million.

Fes From montpellier, france to fes, morocco
Posted: Mon January 31, 2005 11:27 AM UTC
Hi! I have enjoyed reading the various questions and responses throughout these past months... Now, I have a question that perhaps one could answer. I reside curently in Montpellier, France (on the Mediterranean)... I have a fifteen day vacation coming up soon... And I need to go to Fes. I would like to spend most of those fifteen days in Fes... Not, traveling to and from. (Flying is not an option at this point in my life) I have found a ferry from Sete to Tanger... However, it will be a total of 36 hours. Once I arrive in Tanger, I will take a very inexpensive train to Fes. It is a five hour train... But this, I can live with. Money is sort of an issue as well... The trains from France to Spain are ungodly in their pricing. Does anyone have any advice?

Fes HOUSEMATE WANTED!!
Posted: Wed May 5, 2004 02:48 PM UTC
Hello, I am going to the Fez festival as part of my trip to Morocco. I rented a house and my friend decided to bail out on me! {She decided to get married... go Figure ;-) }

I am looking for a housemate to share the house with during the Fes festival. I would prefer to share the house with one other person, Male or female with a good attitude and a young mind.

I am staying in a small 18th century traditional Moroccan house [dar] in the heart of the Fes medina, in the medieval quarter. We have the complete house to ourselves. It is four levels around a small central court. We have a kitchen, a bathroom, and a central court. Around the courtyard are two salons on the first floor and two more on the second. In the two large rooms are double beds, and a single bed in one of the small rooms.

You can contact me at the VT email if you are interested.

Be well

Fes Things to do in Fez
Posted: Tue September 9, 2003 09:27 AM UTC
I am fascinated by travel and have visited most of the Middle East - in the not too distant future I plan to study Arabic in Amman-Jordan. I currently work in IT for an international bank.

I am planning to go to Fez for a week - I am reading Titus Burkhart’s book Fez-City of Islam before I go for ideas as to what to do - but I would love to hear from people who have already been. Also ideas for short trips from Fez to nearby villages would be very much appreciated.

Is it necessary to book in advance?
