| Marrakesh | 2 girls travelling alone from marrakesh to agadir Posted: Wed April 30, 2008 09:07 PM UTC
Hiya,
My friend and I are going to Morocco in 5 days time and flying into Marakesh airport. We're going to be staying in Agadir. We thought that we might be better getting a taxi then attempting to navigate our way around the Moroccan transport system and as we're a little nervous about not having a male in our party. Does anyone know a good prebooking taxi service that would take us from Marakesh to Agadir? Or would it be better to attempt to organise this at the airport? Thanks so much for your help! |

| Marrakesh | Would like to visit Marrakech Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 10:46 PM UTC
I was going to go for a few days to Marrakech this winter, but the travel agency screwed up -informed us the day before planned departure that the trip was sold out - and we had paid.
They fly every Thursday and Sunday from Gran Canaria (2 hours' flight). My partner was going with me, but now he has decided that he does not want to go. I am OLD but young "upstairs" (as a Dutch friend of mine says), and wonder if anyone is interested in joining me either this year or next winter. I suppose it is getting a bit hot for my taste soon. I live in Gran Canaria now. There was a deal, 89 euros both ways (just the flight) earlier this winter, but I have not checked lately. I would like to mention that I would like a separate room in a hotel, even if it is a woman. :) Eva |

| Marrakesh | Any particular Sahara tour that you guys recommend? Posted: Sun April 6, 2008 06:52 PM UTC
Hello guys,
We're traveling from the UK to Marrakesh in September - and our aim is to do a few days in Marrakesh (possibly 2), then head for a Sahara tour, before heading back for a day or so in Marrakesh. We're looking at this tour : http://www.hostelsclub.com/act-en-478.html - there seem to be so many, so would welcome any recommendations. I like this one as it seems considerably cheaper that some others - and we are doing this on a bit of a budget. I have already emailed a Riad that we have seen online (http://riadpuchka.com/) to see if they will hold our bags whilst we head on the tour. Does anyone know this Riad? Is it in a prime location? Should we looking for somewhere else? We're both completely new to Morocco so want to get this completely right. Any do's / don'ts that people want to express? Any help is greatly appreciated! Gary :) |

| Marrakesh | Busses from/to Marrakesh Posted: Thu March 27, 2008 10:50 AM UTC
Hy there
I'll leave for Morroco next week, unfortunately the website of CTM busses has been down for ages. So maybe somebody can help me: At the moment the plan is to take a train from Marrakesh to Casablanca, spend some time there, then take another train to Fes or Meknes and then return to Marrakesh. A train ride from Fes/Meknes to Marrakesh takes around 7 hours, but it's not the shortest connection between those cities since the train runs via Rabat and Casablanca. Therefore taking a bus might be an option. But without being able to check schedules online, I have a few questions: 1. How long does the CTM bus from Fes or Meknes to Marrakesh take? 2. How frequent do they run? 3. Do the busses run via Rabat and Casablanca too, or do they take a more direct itinerary between Fes and Marrakesh? Thanks for your help! Andrea |

| Marrakesh | Any women who've traveled solo? Posted: Wed March 5, 2008 05:38 AM UTC
I read the thread on what to wear. Also read about some men leering more that one might be used to! Other than that, any words of wisdom from women who have traveled alone? I'll be in Spain and I'm looking into visiting Morocco, but want to hear what other solo travelers have experienced.
Also, advice on getting to Marrakesh from Tangier? |

| Marrakesh | eco or private self-catering apartment/house/tent/ Posted: Thu February 28, 2008 03:44 PM UTC
Hi
We are undertaking a trek in September and wanted to stay on after it in Marakesh or surroundings. Does anybody know of either eco-lodge or self-catering accommodation? We'd rather stay with a private local and support them than some posh hotel. Any info appreciated! Thanks Iris |

| Marrakesh | Camping in the dunes in March Posted: Fri February 15, 2008 09:36 AM UTC
Hi, I need some help
I'm organising a 5-day trip for myself and my girlfriend to marrakesh, going early march and we are keen to spend a night or two camping in the dunes. Any tips on sorting out this part of my tour please? all the other bits have been sorted out using VT. is it cheaper to book this part of my tour once i am in marrakesh? if so what companies would you recommend me to go to once i get there? Or have you got any good websites where i can prebook this dune adventure cheaply? what are your personal experiences when you went into the dunes? did you do camel riding, mint tea with berbers, music, dancing, meal prepared locally then camping under the stars? that is the kind of thing i'm dreamingabout!! please help |

| Marrakesh | Good local guide to avoid false guides in Marrakech Posted: Fri February 8, 2008 06:33 PM UTC
Hello,
I will be traveling with my wife for a weekend in Marrakech soon. Can anyone recommend where I could hire a local guide? Does anyone know a good guide you can trust to take you around? If you do I would be very happy to have a way to contact him. How much would it cost me aproximately. I would like to avoid having people offering themselves only for my money. Thank you in advance. |

| Marrakesh | first time in Marrakech - where to stay??? Posted: Fri February 1, 2008 10:08 PM UTC
My husband and i are finally visiting Marrakech in March, i have wanted to go for years and i am so excited! I have been reading lots of travellers reviews on accommodation and now find myself confused on where to stay that is inexpensive and traditional. We are both sociable and not into fancy luxury accommodation so i thought about hostels so we would meet like minded people to enjoy a drink and chat with but the reviews are awful regarding safety and cleanliness. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Many thanks Paula and Jim.
The other thing we thought of is booking somewhere for first night then finding somewhere - is that recommended with it being the school easter hols?? |
