Hiking in the Atlas Mountains Posted: Sun November 1, 2009 09:45 PM UTC
I am planning to go to Morocco this December. The details of the holiday are yet to be formed, but I would like to spend time hiking in the Atlas Mountains (about 4 or 5 days).
Has anyone got any suggestions about where to go in the Atlas Mountains?
Any particular companies to book with?
Or is it better to arrange when you get out there?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Grace

Marrakesh with a baby Posted: Sun November 1, 2009 09:25 AM UTC
Just wondering if anyone can give me any tips. We've never been to Morrocco before and will be going next May with our little boy who will be almost 11 months by then. Any ideas what the weather will be like then? Can we buy baby supplies like nappies in Marrakesh? Will we be able to sightsee with a buggy? Can anyone reccomend accomodation that will allow a travel cot in the room that isn't too expensive (we're trying to keep costs down)? Feel free to give me any advice or tips you think will help. We've never travelled with a baby before it's always just been us backpacking around so we're a bit unsure.
Thanks, Bekah

Single woman travelling to Marrakesh Posted: Wed October 28, 2009 01:50 PM UTC
I have booked a week in Marrakesh from 18 December alone. As a (not young) single woman, are there any things I shouldn't do for safety reasons? I realise I will get hassled but would welcome advice and some company sometimes whilst I'm there from any English speakers. Any offers? Any advice would be appreciated.

Morocco in December Posted: Tue October 20, 2009 03:24 PM UTC
Hi everybody,
I will be travelling to Morocco with two friends in the second half of December. We would like to rent a car for the whole two weeks, but are wondering how are the roads in Atlas mountains at this time of the year. We will be going from Agadir to Marakesh and then to Merzouga for some camel trekking.
If you won't recommend to drive there on our own what is the other best option?
thank you for your time

Nice riads in Casablanca? Posted: Sat October 17, 2009 05:05 AM UTC
Hello!
I and my husband will visit Morocco this winter.
I have been looking for a riad(Moroccan style hotel) in Casablanca, but I haven't found any yet :-(
Riads are Moroccan style hotels.... renovated Moroccan houses etc.
There are many modern hotels in Casablanca, but we would like to stay at a riad.
If you know one, please let us know :-)
Thank you very much for your help.

All Inclusive hotel on the outskirts - good idea? Posted: Wed September 30, 2009 12:04 AM UTC
Checking deals to Marrakesh and there are two offers to go to either the Kenzi Oasis Hotel or the Bluebay hotel just outside Marrakesh all inclusive for a week which is about £100 more than bed and breakfast for one Hotel Amine closer to centre. My partner is a bit aprehensive about going to Marrakesh - food etc... so what would be the best and is it worth paying the extra. We hope to go on excursions whilst there for at least two days and one night so would not be using the hotel ten even if we had paid. Also has anyone stayed at any of the hotels and`would they tell us what they thought.
Thanks

Royal Air Maroc Posted: Tue September 29, 2009 07:45 AM UTC
Hi, does anyone have the latest news on the pilot strike at Royal Air Maroc? haven't been able to get latest news online if strike has been resolved. will appreciate if someone can give me an update or send me a link to the latest news report? Am travelling to Morrocco in Dec and was thinking of booking a ticket in advance online for the Casablanca to Marrakech route (cos much faster than train and easier as I have suitcase to lug around) But now am anxious as been reading a lot of bad things about the airline that is is unreliable and subject to frequent last minute changes. appreciate any views you might have to share. just wish there is another airline that flies from Casa to Marrakech!

Christmas Posted: Wed September 23, 2009 07:27 AM UTC
I'm going to be in Morocco for a week over Christmas, arriving in Casablanca and visiting Marrakech, Fes & Meknes.
I'll probably be in Marrakech on Christmas day.
I'm hoping Christmas is "just another day" in Morocco, so my travel plans etc will not be affected if I end up wanting to travel between cities at that time.
Is that right?
At the moment I plan to be traveling by train, but if they're likely to be overcrowded or on some kind of restricted timetable, I might rent a car.

Hotel Sherazade Posted: Fri September 18, 2009 12:59 PM UTC
I am trying to book this hotel without success. Does anyone know if they are still in business (I have phoned 3 times and emailed - but no response).
Failing that does anyone know another good, quiet, old, grotty as long as not damp, hotel in the centre which is not too expensive.
Many thanks

flooding in Rabat Posted: Wed September 16, 2009 04:33 PM UTC
I am wondering how extensive the damage is from the flooding in Rabat yesterday? I just saw this on the news. Were there any injuries or fatalities?
We are due to arrive in Rabat on Sept 24, but we could come back through on our way back to Marrakech if it's not a good idea to arrive then, or even not at all.
Here most places with a natural disaster do not want tourists in the way.

airport bus? Posted: Tue September 15, 2009 05:49 PM UTC
I keep reading that there is an airport bus, Bus 11, at the Marrakech airport, about .5 miles from the airport, and that is runs into town around the Djemaa el Fna.
How do I find this bus when I leave out of the airport? Are there signs to a bus stop or does someone know if I should walk toward the left or right after leaving the main entrance of the airport?
We're staying in the Gueliz area and I read in one guidebook that this bus runs there.
Any information would help.
Thanks!

Weather in Marrakech-late Sept Posted: Tue September 15, 2009 03:53 PM UTC
Hi everyone!
I'm arriving in Marrakech this coming Sunday and was orignally bringing lightweight skirts/pants. But I've noticed online that it's rather cool at night and not real hot during the day.
Is it normally this cool this time of year?
Could it heat back up?
Thanks for any information.

Fes weather Posted: Tue September 15, 2009 03:51 PM UTC
Hello all !
Hope you're doing ok in COLD Fes!!!!
I saw online that the temperature is about 69 Farenheit and 44 Farenheit overnight. Is this average?
Is is usually that cool this early over there?
Now I am re-thinking my lightweight skirts and lightweight pants for something heavier to wear.
Is it possible that it could get hot again while I'm there? We should arrive in Fes about 26/27 September.
Thanks for any info!

Staying in Fes apartment Posted: Fri September 11, 2009 08:38 PM UTC
Hello everyone!
We are looking at renting an apartment in Fes, the description says it's about 1km from the train station. So I wanted to know is this the "Ville Nouvelle" and how far is it to Fes el Bali? Can we walk to would it be better to take a taxi?
Or is this just too far from Fes el Bali and we should stay closer?
On the map the apartment is between the N8 and the train line.
Thank you for any help!
