Province d' Essaouira Essaouria - Weather in October ?
Posted: Sat June 20, 2009 08:47 PM UTC
Hi we are a family of 4 (children are 12 & 17) and thinking of visiting in October.
We were wondering:
1) How is the weather - is it windy/cold in Essouria
2) We fly into Marrakesh we were thinking of staying there 2/3 days and then going to Essouria for 4-5 days - given we don't want to travel too much - is there anywhere else we should include in our schedule ?

Morocco Is booking hostels/hotels in advance essential?
Posted: Wed June 10, 2009 12:28 AM UTC
Hi,

I'm having a hard time finding information on how to get around in Morocco. I'm considering not booking any hostels/hotels because I might not be able to make it to another city on time. However, this has me worried that I won't be able to find an affordable place to stay once I'm there.

I will be in Morocco in August, from the 5th-20th. Does anyone know how busy Morocco gets in August? Would I be ok not booking anything in advance? Thanks!

Morocco Help with itinerary and suggestions on transportion, etc.
Posted: Sat May 23, 2009 06:07 AM UTC
Hello, I will be arriving in Tangier on July 8th on a ferry from Tarifa. On the 13th, I will be flying out of Marrakesh. In between, I hope to see Fes, Merzouga, Ait-Benhaddou and Marrakesh. I was in Morocco four years ago and visited Fes, but I'm not pretending to be an expert. I have found the site for train schedules and plan to take the train to Fes. From there, I would like to get feedback/help on the rest. I would like to know the best way to get to each place and how long I should stay. I'm not a person who needs to spend a long time in one place...

I want to join a day tour to Tangier, I read from LP that FRS offers this tour. however some traveller feefback that FRS tour is bad as they bring traveller to carpet shop and herb shop..... I can search quite a lot information of other travel agencies or private guide who provide such tour, is there any suggestion which one I should pick just to see the tradition and real part of Tangier? and how is the usual price for the tour with round trip ferry tickets.

Morocco Travelling couple with some questions about Morocco.
Posted: Sun May 10, 2009 06:26 PM UTC
Hello Friends!

My girl and I have about 5 days to spend in Morocco before we need to be at an event in Seville Spain.

ABOUT US: we are both thirty years old, fit & active, love walking and exploring new places.

ACCOMODATION: we are travelling cheap, so we are not interested in luxury, but we do need something that is CLEAN and well maintained. But we're not above staying at a hostel, if it's a nice place.

FOOD: we LOVE food...all of it! We both love to cook and experience new tastes - love to eat local food from places like markets, no mcdonalds for us!

INTERESTS: we're not that in to seeing sights, we more tend to explore as much of a city/town as we can, mostly on foot (we can walk all day). We love to roam around, have a coffee in one place, keep going, eat something...on and on till it's bedtime.

Can anyone recommend any of the following:

1) Itinerary for 4-6 days in Morocco- we are thinking about splitting the five days between Marakesh and looking for one other destination, preferably on the way north getting closer to spain. We would like to see a smaller, quiter, less hectic kind of place.

2) Will we be able to cross in to spain easily, and then on to Seville?

3) Price for, clean but cheap hotels/apartments/guest house per night?

4) What airlines & travel companies have good deals on flights out of Toronto, Detroit or North East USA?

5) Price per day to eat and use local transportation?

6) Best place (market or city) to get contacts for importing Moroccan crafts to North America?

Thanks so much!

Marrakesh Official Guide in Marrakech, any idea of price?
Posted: Wed May 6, 2009 04:43 PM UTC
Off to Marrakech in two weeks. Would anyone know what price we should expect to pay to hire an official guide for the day? Our riad is quoting us 60 euros, which seems a bit steep. Also, what is the best way to book an official guide directly?

Morocco Which is more worth my time Fes or Ait Benhaddou?
Posted: Tue April 28, 2009 08:07 AM UTC
I posted last night but after a re-think and another study of the guide book. I think Essaouira and Fes it is. But I'm wondering whether to visit Ait Benhaddou via Ouarzazate will fit in/be worth it. I've just been trying to make up a journey that would work and I think it would be too rushed to see all of these places. What is the verdict?
Now if we have to choose either Fes or Ait Benhaddou which should it be?

Another question about this would be what would the best order to see go to all these places in? It would be good to get an overnight train or coach from Marrakesh to Fes to save time but I don't think ONCF do that.
My flight schedule is like this - arrive at 11pm on Friday night (12th June) and leave at 9am on Sunday (21st)

Any advice will be greatly appriciated!

Morocco Is June going to be too hot in Morocco?
Posted: Tue April 28, 2009 05:10 AM UTC
Hi all,

I'm looking at going to Morocco in June but concerned that it may be too hot. We are from Australia so used to hot summers of 30C+ days but if it is going to be over 35C it may be too much for us.

Also as independant travellers but not backpackers how best and easy is it for use to get around and between main towns.
Cheers

Morocco Where to go in Morocco and how?
Posted: Mon April 27, 2009 10:13 PM UTC
Hi everyone,

It's my first time in Morocco, me and my partner will be there for 9 nights, the 12th to the 24th of June.
I have quite a lot of questions, have been looking at the Lonley Planet guide book and on the internet but can't quite find the answers I want. Any advice will be greatly appriciated!

We fly to Marrakesh, and I'm thinking of going to both Fez,Meknes and Volubilis because the Lonley Planet book notes them and they are relatively close to each other. Are all of these places worth visiting/will we have time? How should we travel up there, I have heard there is a train that takes about 8 hours?

If we have enough time it would be good to see some of the coast, perhaps a day or two on a nice beach. I was considering Essaouira but have heard that it is very windy. What are peoples experiences of that? I then started to consider Agadir just to get a bit of beach relaxation but are we better spending our time elsewhere - we're not resort type people and I hear they dominate the area.

So basically my questions are will we have enough time to see Marrakesh, Fez, Meknes, Volubilis (or should we cut one or two of these places out) and perhaps a beach (and which one) in 9 nights, and how should we travel?

I hope I have managed to make some sense!
Thank you in advance
