Transportation Posted: Wed June 17, 2009 03:57 AM UTC
Hello everybody,
I would like to know what is the best way to have a day trip in Mostar.
1) From Split, take the bus to Mostar and return to Split. or
2) From Split, take the bus to Mostar and go directly to Dubrovnik.
My routing will be in Split, Mostar and Dubrovnik but I am not sure whether I can connect the bus to Dubrovnik after a day trip in Mostar.
Thanks

I want to go rafting on the Tara River and I've seen that some tours leave from Foca. How would I get from Dubrovnik to Foca using public transport?

From Melbourne, Australia to Sarajevo, B&H Posted: Tue May 26, 2009 07:50 PM UTC
I am hoping to do this trip next May.
I really hate flying so want to do it as little as possible.
Could someone advise me what kind of place in Europe would be the quickest flight - I only want the one necessary stopover to refuel.
Then if it is say, Frankfurt, I would spend a few days there, and find the easiest way by land to get to Sarajevo.
But maybe I should also consider not only the quickest flight, but also how easy it is to get to Sarajevo.
As long as there is only one stopover. A few hours in the plane don't really matter.
Thank you if you have got any advice or tips.

Going to/from Athens, Greece to/from Bosnia Posted: Mon March 23, 2009 11:47 AM UTC
Hi,
I am coming from another country to visit Athens, Greece for a week near the beginning of April. I would like to spend my additional week visiting Sarajevo and Medjugorje. However, I am not familiar with this part of the world and not sure what the best mode of transportation to/from Bosnia would be.
What are the suggested/recommended best way to go from Athens, Greece to/from Bosnia? What is the recommended city/location to stop once in Bosnia?
Which way is the most economical?
How long does it take to go from Athens, Greece to Bosnia?
I have attempted to research the most feasible way of travel as I am not against any mode of transportation as long as it is reasonable on length of travel time and economical. However, I am unable to find anything outside of the www.bahn.de website that tells me it will take roughly 27 hours to travel between the two countries. Is this correct? Is there a quicker, more economical mode of travel?
Any assistance that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,

Sarajevo - Mostar - Kravice Posted: Tue February 24, 2009 08:02 AM UTC

My question is: tell me 10 reasons why I should go to Sarajevo and Mostar, what is the atmosphere that I can feel there and maybe a couple of curious place that I could visit during my itinerary and that I have not considered. I have to convince my travel mates that Bosnia Erzegovina worhs a visit!

Looking for Belgrade to Sarajevo itinerary ideas! Posted: Mon February 9, 2009 05:27 AM UTC
Hi, a friend and I (two over-40 females) plan to rent a car in Belgrade, see as many interesting things as possible, and return the car 10 days later in Sarajevo. We don't care at all about partying or night life. We're interested in history and meeting & talking to people. Let me hear your itinerary ideas (where, how many days, how many hours driving, etc)! Much thanks, Jan

Crossing from Gorazde (B & H) through Metaljka to Montenegro Posted: Sat February 7, 2009 03:25 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
3 questions:
1. This border-crossing, Metaljka, seems to be open, but I haven't heard any tourist crossing through it. Has anyone done this before?
2. Is there any regular bus service going this route? I have checked on http://www.autobusni-kolodvor.com, but not quite...
3. Accommodation around this area? Any reasonable dormitory or private apartment (Sobe/Sobi)?
Thanks in advance!

Private Accommodations in the Winter Posted: Sun January 11, 2009 01:09 PM UTC
I am planning on spending a little over two weeks between February 16 and March 4 in Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia, with most of my time being spent in Bosnia. I am hoping to not have to book hostels and such before going and thus be able to maintain the freedom of moving around as I please, but I am just wondering if I will encounter problems finding private accommodations in people's houses and apartments and so forth during February and early March? Is it significantly more difficult to find accommodations in the Winter than during the Summer, or should I be okay?
Also, just an opinion question, since I've never been to the area: Currently, I'm hoping to distribute my time by having roughly 4 days in Slovenia, 5 days in Croatia, and 6 days in Bosnia. I am mostly interested in Bosnia because of recent history. Input on this distribution?

Travelling by bus in Bosnia and Herzegovina Posted: Tue November 25, 2008 01:58 PM UTC
Hello,
I'm planning a 3 week tour in Bosnia. Since I would like this to be rather cheap a friend recommended traveling mainly by bus. I could not find a website that compares the bus fares in the country.
I'm arriving from Germany, does anybody know if there is a direct bus from there?
The destinations I would like to visit are Sarajevo, Mostar and any other recommendation you may have.
One last question, where can I find the prices of domestic flights in Bosnia?
Thank you very much for your help,
Ran

Croatia to Sarajevo Posted: Sun November 16, 2008 08:22 AM UTC
I'm planning a trip in January to hopefully cover some of the Balkans, however due to the lack of trains in the area I'm having some trouble figuring out how to get into Bosnia and out of Bosnia.
I plan to arrive in Ljubljana from Venice and spend some time there. Then I would like to head to Zagreb, and on to Sarajevo to Mostar and finish in Split for my flight home. My main difficulty is the Zagreb -> Sarajevo connection, and Mostar -> Split.
I understand there is a good bus network in the area. Is it easy to use for an English speaker? Is this preferable to trains where there are trains available? I read some scary stories of bus drivers taking passports from travellers in preparation for the border crossing, and redistributing them later - I think that would concern me a little! Any truth to this?

I am considering a vacation this winter to Bosnia. I am NOT into sking. I'll go for sight seeing in major towns. How is winter? I survived winters in Brehmen (Germany), Minneapolis and Indianapolis (US)
Is weather an obstacle during winter? does it affect transportation? Any recommendations.
