Would very much like to know good places to eat out, lunch and dinner, reasonably priced and good quality food. (Want to avoid 'posh' expensive restaurants) Will I find anything like that in St Valery sur somme?
Any recommendations ?
I have to rent a car at Beauvais airport next month - just for 24 hours.
I can do it with Hertz (through my Ryanair flight booking) or one of the other providers at Beauvais.
Any positive or negative experiences out there?
I know about the rip offs for personal insurance and claims excess, and I assume all the companies play the same silly games. I also know to book in advance, as it's a small facility.
We will be staying in this town and having to deal with a walking stick, I need to know how steep is the area?
For example, are the roads in the old town as steep as the roads in Boulougne town centre?
Jet2 are starting a new flight into albert airport. Does anybody know if there is car hire available there and which firm it is? If not, does anybody know where the nearest car hire place is and if there is any public transport there and where I can obtain the timetable?
Please help, I can't find information anywhere!
Does anyone know if any of the relics at St Jacques Abby/Church relate to the Carmelites of Compiegne.
I am researching the family "Soiron" who lived in Compiegne. Any information would be appreciated.
Bus Jaune Posted: Mon November 24, 2008 12:05 PM UTC
Is there still a "Bus Jaune"? I'm arriving 12/26 at CDG, would like to take Bus Jaune to Amiens. The website domain www.busjaune.com is for sale. Thanks!
My wife and I are looking for accommodation in the Picardie area from 19.10.2008 - 22.11.2008.
We require an internet connection where we can connect direct into a router as my wife will have to work and also for accommodation to be pet friendly as we have a small dog (doesn't cast hair).
We are actually travelling from Spain to return to Scotland but want to spend 5 weeks in France before heading for the tunnel so anywhere within a few hours drive would be fine.
If anyone could be of any help we would be very grateful.

Hi! Myself, hubby and 4 kids are travelling across France via Amiens in July of this year, and we would like to find a reasonably priced hotel within walking distance of a hypermarche/shopping centre. (Preferably a Premiere Classe hotel etc..)Any ideas?
We found the "centre commerciale carrefour" (Avenue de l'Europe) with a Kyriad hotel nearby, but we're not sure if this area has many amenities.
We would appreciate any comments.
Thanks.
We are driving up from Spain and want to stay in a nice french town about 2 - 2.5 hrs away from Calais (getting channeltunnel next morning) where we can stop for the night for a nice meal and hotel. As we're coming from Bordeaux, anything west of Paris will be suitable. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated as i dont know the area at all.
I am planning a trip in Picardie, flying to and from Beauvais Airport. I was interested whether there are any useful train passes for the region. Purchasing a general France Railpass is probably not worth for such a small region. I am interested to see Amiens, Loan, Compiegne, and probably some other smaller places in the region. Or maybe point-to-point tickets will turn out to be better?
Not sure if you can help me or not.
My wife & I will be visiting Amiens in April 2008 and driving from there to
Lille, stopping at a couple of WW1 cemetaries to visit graves of grandparents
who were killed in France in 1917.
We will be leaving from Paris and were intending to take the fast Train from the
Airport to Haute Picardie station.
Question is, is there reliable transport from the station into Amiens or would
you suggest train from Paris to Amiens itself?

places to stay Posted: Sun October 30, 2005 10:33 AM UTC
My family and I had our first Holiday if France this year and are looking to go again next year. By far the cheapest ferry crossing with our car was to Calais, however we stayed near Dinard and so had a 5 hour road journey (on top of the 5 hours it took us to get to Dover from manchester).
The countryside and scenery where we stayed was fantastic bu were wondwring if any one new of areas nearer to Calais (maybe 2-3 hrs drive) that would equal the beauty of Brittany.
Idealy a nearby beach would be good, but as we will have our car with us we could make a beach trip a "day out" and travel maybe an hour for where we choose to stay.
We prefer rural locations.
Thanks in advance for your help
Found some info about this and wondered if anyone had been there at this time? We hope to visit in the summer during our holiday, but have thought about going in December to see the Christmas village. Thanks
