cape garden hotel, mauritius (near Pereybere, on Bain Boeuf road) Posted: Fri November 6, 2009 04:48 PM UTC
Has anyone ever stayed at the Cape Garden hotel about 5 mins from Pereybere in Mauritius? Or its affilliate New Paradizo residence in Pereybere? If so, what were your impressions? We are not looking for a 4-5 star hotel, more like a 3 star, villa, or self-catering. Merci!

Suggestion for bungalow/villa style hotel Posted: Sun August 30, 2009 08:17 PM UTC
Hi all,
I would be travelling to Mauritius in the month of December(2nd week) with my fiance for honeymoon.
I am bored of luxury hotels that offer sameness in their rooms. I was looking for hotels where independent bungalow/villa is available but was unable to decide. Following is my criteria:
1) Bungalow/villa style
2) Lots of greenery and beautiful
3) Suitable for honeymoon
4) Budget 150 USD per night
Pls suggest some good hotels fulfilling above criteria.
I have shortlisted some hotels which are following. PLs advise on their suitability:
1. Pointe aux biches
2. La Maison D'ete Hotel
3. Bungalow Vanille
I also think the weather in Mauritius will be comfortable enough to travel around the country and not very uncomfortable and muggy weather. Pls advise.

Le Touessrok Posted: Wed August 12, 2009 10:56 PM UTC
Hi, myself and my daughter (age 12) are visiting Mauritius for the first time in a couple of weeks, we are staying half board at Le Touessrok. We are so looking forward to it. I am becoming a little concerned about the weather, usually on this type of holiday we vegetate around a pool or on the beach, are we going to be able to do this? will it be warm enough? We heard that we needed to bring something warmer for the evenings but for during the day aswell?
Which is the best currency to take to Mauritius? Any comments/advice for this hotel? I read that bringing some wine/champagne in your hand luggage was a good idea but not sure if I can do this because I have a stop over in Seychelles, does anyone know if they have the same liquids restrictions?

Coralia Mont Choicy Hotel Posted: Mon May 25, 2009 08:31 AM UTC
Can anybody advise me on the meal times (breakfast and dinner at this hotel please? I am leaving on 7 June 2009 to Mauritius. What is the public busses like in Mauritius and can one actualy tour the island by bus by one self? We would like to vist Curepipe, the Pampelmouse gardens, Cadan Waterfront in Port Louis, Rose Hill, Grand Baie, etc. and plan to use public transport for these excursions. Are there regular buses available from and to these destinations to the hotel or should one make alternative arrangements?
What is the cost in Rupees more or less for a day visit to Isle aux Cerfs and where can one get a reliable boat and skipper to take one out to Isle aux Cerfs? Is topless bathing permitted at Isle aux Cerfs or is it out of the question? My wife like to get an even suntan and any info regarding this will be appreciated.

Honeymoon exploring Posted: Mon April 6, 2009 01:17 PM UTC
Hi,
Me and my fiance are going to Mauritius for one week beginning May 18th this year and are staying at Le meridien ile maurice.
My fiance and I love exploring nature and beautiful places like waterfalls/landscapes/stunning views/nature - any recommendations?
The 18th is also my birthday and I am wheat and gluten free - we would love to go for a special meal at an amazing restaurant - we both love all food! I've heard about a couple of restaurants in other hotels but was wondering what others recommend from personal experience.
Also how much approximately do we need to take with us for spending money? We are on a half board basis.
Look forward to answers.

Best time to go - April or May ? Posted: Mon March 16, 2009 05:40 PM UTC
How is the weather in Mauritius in April and May ? I can go there in the middle of April, and then in the middle of May, but i dont know when is better weather. I have read in statistics that in May is hotter, but also a lot of rain. How is raining there in May - hours of raining, or just short rain, or night raining, and day is ok?
Second question is about a risk of the chikungunya virus - is it still there? Are there other rellevant risks of other deseases (strong diarrhea, malaria, dengue) ? Because i am going there with my 1 year old baby, so i have some worries...
Thanks for every advice

Which HOTEL in West or North-West coast would you recommend us and why ?? Posted: Fri January 23, 2009 05:21 PM UTC
We plan to visit for the first time to Mauritius in mid-April'09.
We would like to find a nice place to stay for two of us for one week, with a good ratio quality/price.
What would you recommend and WHY ??
Is it possible to have all at the same time: nice beach nearby, reasonably luxury accomodation, quiet and with a nice view, etc..?
What kind of budget do we need to plan ? For the moment we have just a flight to get on the iland...!
Thank you in advance for any other useful information.

Where to stay in Mauritius? Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 01:14 PM UTC
I want to go to Mauritius on the 23rd Dec 2009 - 3 Jan 2010.
I am looking for a house that sleeps 10 people/5 couples.
I would prefer a place that is self-catering, and has a pool.
Preferably near the sea as well.
Is there any part of Mauritius that would be great for this type of accommodation? What is the weather like at that time of the year?

need info on sea excursions and scooter rent Posted: Fri December 5, 2008 12:57 AM UTC
hi mates! i will land on mauritius on monday ,i would like you to suggest me of a reliable and not extremely expensive tour operator in grand bay ,for cruising the northern islets (gabriel and flat) ,emphasizing in having plenty of time to swim and enjoy the secluded (?) beaches of BOTH the 2 islets ,not just one ,and that ,at a glance....
moreover ,i am thinking of renting a scooter (125 cc if possible)...can i explore the whole island on that vehicle?i mean ,are there sufficient fuel stations along the road ,and yet ,how long are the distances (f.e grand bay - gris gris or grand bay - trou d'aux douce) ?
thank you all ,in advance

MAURITIUS IN MAY Posted: Sat November 15, 2008 02:02 PM UTC
My partner and I are visiting Mauritius for the first time next May 2009. Were staying at the Le Cannonier Hotel for 2 wks AI.
Can anyone tell me what to expect from the weather in May? I'm expecting some rain but was just wondering how hot it may be in May as I know it is the start of the winter season. I'm presuming it will be warm enough to swim in the sea?
Also has anyone stayed at the Le Cannonier hotel and can tell me there thoughts on the hotel.
Thanks

Mauritius in February Posted: Tue October 28, 2008 01:13 AM UTC
Hi All
I'm so delighted I found this forum because I'm going crazy trying to work it out myself!!
My dilemma is this: Which side of the island should we stay on in the first 2 weeks of Feb? Weather charts seem to indiate it rains LESS (like half the rainfall) on the west coast in February but other written reports state that the "east coast weather differs from that of the west coast - the former being much drier during January and February, when prevailing winds drive in from the east, race up the mountains and dump rain on central and western Mauritius". So you can see why I'm confused!
Our family of 4 (grown up children) don't mind it hot but we don't want to spend our holiday cooped up indoors. 3 of us love diving and I was originally thinking the Hilton at Flic en Flac looked good.
Anyway, I'd very much appreciate some advice if anyone can help.
Many thanks.

Windsurfing Posted: Tue September 30, 2008 09:35 PM UTC
Hi,
Apart from Le Morne, can anyone advise on best beaches for windsurfing? Or beaches to avoid, perhaps? The East coast looks beautiful (Belle Mare), but not sure if we can hire windsurfing equipment there?
Thanks very much for your suggestions!
