Région de Bruxelles-Capitale Brussels hotel recommendation for one night
Posted: Sun May 11, 2008 03:52 AM UTC
We will be arriving in Brussels from Bruges by train in August. We will stay in Brussels for one night and fly out of BRU to the US the next morning. Can someone tell me the most likely train station where we would disembark and recommend some reasonably priced hotels nearby that we can get to easily (there are 6 of us; a family of 4 and a couple)? I would like to see as much of Brussels as is possible in one day so hotels in a central location that can be easily reached from the train station might work better. Many thanks for your help.

Brussels Centrally located hotel with Eurosport + WiFi
Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 08:48 AM UTC
Will be in Brussels for 3-4 days in July (yay!) - and I'm trying to find a centrally located hotel - which must have Eurosport (or similar) and WiFi - preferably WiFi included in the room price or on a pay-per-day basis, not pay-per-hour, since that tends to get expensive! (The bf has to work while we're there, that's why. ;o)

Someone suggested the Radisson SAS Royal (115 euro/night, WiFi included) which is located "a three-minute walk from the central railway station" - any thoughts...?

Any other suggestions.....?

Thanks! :o)

Hello,
I am 24 years old girl from Bulgaria, currently studying at the University of Helsinki. I am expected to start my traineeship in the EP on Monday, 5th May, however I will arrive there on Friday, 2nd. I still have no idea where I am going to live for three months. I am looking for a dorm/studio/shared flat with good transport connections to the EU area and a convenient monthly rent. Please, let me know if you have anything to offer or advise me in relation to the issue. It’s really urgent!!!
Thank you in advance.

Brussels decisions, decisions
Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 04:31 PM UTC
Have to book a hotel in Brussels for 1 night next month. Can't decide which one. I'm happy with any number of good hotels in the city, so it boils down to location.

My meeting is at Ave Louise, and someone has suggested the Bristol Stephanie. Anyone any thoughts on it?

However, I like to be able to get the train in from the airport and then just fall into the hotel from the station. I can't stand the stress of the way taxi drivers drive there, and can't be bothered with a metro journey after the train.

That usually means somewhere like the Meridien, Novotel or Ibis (at Central Station), depending on who's paying!

Don't mind the metro up to Ave Loiuse for the meeting.

Anyone any better ideas?

Brussels Brussels airport question
Posted: Wed April 9, 2008 01:33 PM UTC
I will be arriving in Brussels on a Sunday morning. I have a train connection at the airport which leaves about 45 minutes after my scheduled landing. If my plane is on time is 45 minutes enough time for me to clear immigration and pick up my bags and make it to the train station in the airport or since it will be aound 0800 should I just find a bar and hop the next train and hour later? I have never flown into Brussles so I am not familiar with how far the train station is located from baggage claim cash machines, ect.

Brussels How Far From City Centre - Avenue de l'Independance, Belge 65
Posted: Mon April 7, 2008 08:24 AM UTC
Hi Thinking of staying at a B&B at the above address for 5 nights early Sept. My concern is how do we get into the city on Public Transport - Metro, Tram etc?

We intend taking day rail trips to Aachen, Bruges etc and need to get to the Midi station early morning, say 8am and return around 8pm. Therefore need regular transport to get to Midi.

Does the Avenue de l'Independence Belge 65 district offer tourist interestand is it safe at night?

Appreciate all comments.

Brussels Is four hours enough to get into the city?
Posted: Thu March 27, 2008 04:17 PM UTC
We'll probably be flying Brussels Airlines in June and have a four-hour connection. We will already have our boarding passes and all, and our luggage will have been dealt with (since it is just a connection with the same airline), so we would just have to go through security and not check in or anything. Would four hours be enough to pop in the city, take a quick look around, and come back? If so how much time do you think we could stay in the city?

Brussels Looking For A Good 3 Star Or Better Hotel
Posted: Tue March 25, 2008 01:41 PM UTC
Will be in Brussels for 5 days first week of September and wish to be near the main international train terminal.

Looking for 3 star or better hotel, or Bed & Breakfast. Worried about bad reports of area around Centre Gare Midi rail terminal. Has the area improved at night?

Had considered Ibis Brussels Centre Gare Midi Hotel but as we are in Brussels for 5 nights think the area especially at night will worry my wife. We intend to take day train trips to Germany and other locations, but would be in Brussells some days.

Does the main Gare Midi rail interconnect with Metro rail system which would allow us to have accommodation in a better area.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Brussels Need help planning Belgium trip (cities and time)
Posted: Thu February 28, 2008 01:23 AM UTC
I am traveling in June to Belgium and Paris. In Belgium I would like to see Brugge, Ghent, Brussels, and possibly Antwerp in 4.5 days. After that we are traveling to Paris for 8 days. Here comes the questions.

1. If you had 1 extra day would you A) Stay in Belgium B) Add it to Paris C) Stay in Lille, Fr?
2. Is one day in each city enough? if not, which ones need 2 days?
3. In order what are your favorite cities?
4. I don't want to stay in more than 2 cities while in Belgium, Brugge being one of them. Where should I base myself the other 2 days Brussels or Ghent?
5. If your answer is Ghent for #3...how would you get there from Grande Palace in Brussels?

I know there are many questions and I'm sorry. I just REALLY need help. Copy and pasting is fine for answers if that is easier. (: If you need to know what my interested are to answer the above: Photography, shopping, art, food, and architecture. I appreciate any and all help.

Please can anyone recommend some good restaurants, bars and clubs. Also, some sights to see during the day would be good.

Brussels Third Party Opinions PLEASE!
Posted: Mon February 11, 2008 11:32 PM UTC
I was hoping to get some advice about train booking. My girlfriend and I are going to be in Brussels with 4 other friends/2 couples, from March 20-30. We plan on taking a couple of day/2day trips to Paris and Amsterdam. One couple has already bought their Benelux passes and my other two friends are convinced that buying our tickets when we get there is the way to go. All four of them have been there before and I trust their opinions equally. I am hoping an outside, third party perspective can help in making our decision. THANK YOU!!!!
