Antwerp some questions
Posted: Mon April 14, 2008 10:42 PM UTC
Hello all! will be in Antwerp in under a week and I was wondering if you could help me with some questions!

1)We don't like traditional touristy stuff so what places should I avoid? Any tourist traps? for example stupid restaurants and 20 Euro chocolates?
2)What and where should we eat like Antwerpians (is that correct?) Anything special to the region?
3)Which are the best vintage clothing/design shops?

Antwerp April stock sales!
Posted: Mon March 24, 2008 09:25 PM UTC
Hello everybody!
We are planning on visiting Antwerp in April and we've heard about some cool designer stock sales going on around the 20-something but I can't seem to find anything about them online... Do any of you know any details or specific dates and designers who are doing this? It would be nice to adjust our arrival dates to coincide and do some extra shopping! :)

Turnhout Lifemusic in Turnhout
Posted: Sat March 22, 2008 08:25 AM UTC
Wie kan mij vertellen of er in het weekend van 11-13 april aanstaande in de een of ander gelegenheid in het centrum van Belgisch Turnhout life-music is. Voorkeur: blues, country, licht klassiek of iets dergelijks.
hartelijk dank alvast.

Antwerp Reuzen en koeien
Posted: Sun March 9, 2008 11:21 PM UTC
Hi,

Antwerp Wonderful integrated public transportation system
Posted: Sun February 17, 2008 05:26 PM UTC
I lived in Antwerp for six months in 1972 and was impressed with public transportation that was good enough for that time but there was not an underway system yet. Eleven years later I visited Milan for three months and found there was a very interesting public transportation system where tickets had a fix time limit after the initial trip. Time duration was 75 minutes and you could take any trip in any system while ticket was alive, with the exception of metro where just one trip was allowed. The ticket was marked just one time in the very initial trip (also at the metro) and in case time duration was completed while in transit, you were obliged to mark a new ticket. Bus or tram drivers didn't care about this problem and they were not allowed to sell tickets. You had to by them at the metro stations or newspaper stands. This obligation was checked by inspectors visits to the buses and they were very strict with cheaters, keeping their Id card and giving a date ticket for a trial or the payment of ten times the amount of the ticket.

Being both systems so similar, would like to know if there is certain relation with the italian organization.

Antwerp restaurant de Barbarie in Antwerp, does it still exist ?
Posted: Tue January 29, 2008 03:21 PM UTC
Hi all,

I would love to go (again) to Antwerp, and then have dinner in the restaurant de Barbarie. But all the details (phone, fax & email) given on the various internet (restaurant) sites (even their own website) don't work : the phone- and faxnumber do not exist, the email comes back......does anybody (someone who lives in Antwerp?) know whether this restaurant does still exist ?
I would love to go there, as we have been there before......

Antwerp Areas to Avoid In Antwerp
Posted: Tue December 11, 2007 10:34 PM UTC
Hi,

Im currently looking for accomodation in antwerp and have found a place located on Leguit . However have found that this area is a red light district (http://www.jmu.edu/pubsafety/RightToKnow/AntwerpCampus2007.shtml).

Could anyone tell me whether that is true, and whether that is an unsafe place to live.

Thanks

Antwerp Best Cafe
Posted: Tue August 28, 2007 05:31 AM UTC
what are the best cafes at Antwerp, that open till late night?

I am not looking for night club or pub. I am looking for cafes that is populated even at 11:00PM. I am looking for cafes type which are in pedestrian alleys. Do they available at Antwerp?

I like to stay there after 9:00PM (after work from 7:00AM to 4:00PM, then shopping and then stretch legs). I always go there 9:00PM to 11:00PM when I am in Italy, chatting with some local people. Can I do the same in Antwerp?

Antwerp Safety in Antwerp, around Radisson
Posted: Sun August 26, 2007 11:38 AM UTC
Hi further to my earlier questions.
It is confirmed now.. will be staying at the Radisson in Antwerp for two nights. A quick question..
I understand that the hotel is a little away from the tourist area and restaurants. Please advise would it be safe for me to veture out alone for dinner, say around 8-8.30 and return by 11 pm. Is the area safe for a single woman?
What is the best dining option nearby? (not to expensive but belgian food)?
Also are there any super market/ departmental stores nearby?
Thanks

Hi I will be visiting Antwerp for 2 days (28-29 Aug) and would like to some shopping for home. Couple of questions
Where can I buy good crystal glassware?
Some superstores near Radisson and Hilton where I can buy linen?
Cafes and restaurants in the area. Not too touristy but one that gives a glimpse of Belgian cuisine.
Some Belgian cafe owner who would be willing to spare a few minutes telling me about the cuisine. (I am a food writer).
Some food stuff to take back home.. somethng authentic.

Any information will be very appreciated.
Thanks for ur time.

Antwerp football tickets - Germinal Beerschot
Posted: Fri August 17, 2007 05:30 PM UTC
Will be in Antwerp the weekend of August 24 - 26 (from Canada)
How do i get tickets to the Germinal Beerschot match on the 25th?
I sent a note to the team administation.
The response was that pre-sales start on Wednesday, at the stadium ticket office.
Any risk of being sold out before my arrival on Friday?
Any other means to acquire tickets?
Thanks!
