Visiting Mombassa Town Posted: Mon November 2, 2009 03:01 PM UTC
We're going on holiday to Bamburi Beach again,(our 5th visit), in a few weeks time. Last time we visited was 2002.
Back in the 1990's we could visit Mombassa by Taxi and walk around for hours without any worries. In 2002 we again visited Mombassa by Taxi, and were horified to find we were the only 2 white people in the entire street, and the asmosphere was hostile.
We would like to know please what the situation is like now in Mombassa.??
Is it safe to walk around, or is a quided tour bus the only way now to see the
sites and shops.
Thank You
Katie

NYALI BEACH HOTEL + MONKEYS Posted: Sun October 4, 2009 11:23 PM UTC
Hi,
Were staying at the Nyali beach hotel soon. What are the monkeys that live around the hotel actually like? Are they just naughty or more of a menace. I have read that given the opportunity they will get into your roon to find food!
Thanks,

lamu stay Posted: Sun May 31, 2009 10:46 PM UTC
Is the Bahari guest house posted on your site for $12 dollars the same as Shella Bahari guest house? Four of us plan to visit lamu in mid august-2009. Two are kenyan residents and two are not.
Do this hotels in lamu charge both resident and non resident fees?

holiday to kenya in May Posted: Wed April 15, 2009 03:09 PM UTC
we are travelling to kenya with our 10year daughter in May this year.
2 very different questions, how important is it to have the yellow fever injection?
Also, it will be my husbands 40th birthday on the day we return, I would like to arrange a "birthday treat" for him whilst we are away and would be open to any suggestions. Would it be easy to arrange a trip and meal on a Dhow? I had thought of a hot air balloon, but i think this would have to be incorporated in a safari and we most likely will not be able to afford one this holiday. i would welcome any suggestions. many thanks

Malindi in March Posted: Sun January 25, 2009 05:56 PM UTC
My husband and I will be staying in the Tranquility Apartments in Malindi. He's working for 4 weeks, I'm just along with no set plans. Is it safe for a woman on her own to go out walking, to a market? Were should I stay away from?
Any advice or information would be much appreciated. Also if there is another woman going to Malindi in March on a visit maybe we could move around the city together.

Apartment near the beach in August Posted: Wed May 21, 2008 09:01 AM UTC
Hi folks, a friend of mine and his family plan to stay in Mombasa beaches in augusut. I did recommend an apartment becuase i had a good deal some years back at $500 a month in July, a low season of course. An not sure if this hotel (fisherman's in) is still available. Tried to reach but no avail.
Can any one advise us a decent appartment-hotel with this price or so in August.
Best regards

Spiders Posted: Sat March 15, 2008 02:26 AM UTC
I'm travelling to Mombasa in June/July to do some volunteer work, but there is only one thing, i am TERRIFIED of spiders.
Could anyone tell me what the spider situation is like out there? Like am i likely to see them on a daily basis! im scared of even the tiny ones in england so this is a very big step for me.
I've heard all sorts or rumours about many of them, just want to see if anyone can give me a 'heads up' on what to expect.
Any answers will be greatfully recieved :-)

Could any one suggest any "gifts" I could take, bearing in mind weight allowances.
I have heard stories of tourists who at some point meet up with
locals off the beaten track where for example" new socks" were very much appreciated, any suggestions most welcome- thanks
