Ghana Prepaid Calling Cards
Posted: Fri September 4, 2009 12:57 AM UTC
Does anyone know of any prepaid calling cards that charge no hidden fees and gives you the announced minutes? Basically, if they say you have 20 minutes you get 20 minutes no matter what! No matter if you hang up or lose connection. What prepaid calling card services do you use to call Ghana, be it an online service or a physical phone card?

Ghana Accommodation Central Coast
Posted: Mon June 22, 2009 04:13 PM UTC
Hi everyone,
my husband and I would like to go to Ghana some time in the European winter and are looking for accommodation near Cape Coast for approx. 5 nights. It should be a laid-back place with rooms or chalet type-of-things, have a beach where you can swim, and not cost too much (it's crazy how expensive some resorts in Ghana are!) but not be shabby and dirty either.
We've googled all over the place but nothing has convinced us really so far :-(
I would welcome any first-hand recommendation with contact details of the hostel/hotel/guesthouse/...

Ghana Getting Visa at the aiport
Posted: Sat May 16, 2009 11:43 PM UTC
Hi!
I will be in Nigeria for work in June and after reading about Ghana I really would like to visit it. The problem is that I won't be able to sort the visa in advance so I am wondering if any of you know if the visa can be sorted in the Airport.

All the information I have found is from http://www.ghana.gov.gh/ghana_visa_regulations_entry_requirements

ii. Ghana Entry Visa may be issued on arrival if the Director of Immigration has prior notification from travellers or their sponsors.

Applications must be made to:
Director Of Immigration
Ghana Immigration Service
Private Mail Bag
Ministries Post Office-Accra
Tel: 00233-21-221667 / 225321 / 224445
Fax 00233-21-226996

Has any of you any experience about with this Director of inmigration office?
Any help/advice will be much appreciated

Thanks!!

Ghana anti malarial drugs
Posted: Tue May 5, 2009 12:30 AM UTC
I have just been to the travel clinic to get my yellow fever vaccination for a trip to Ghana in 2 weeks. I was set to receive antimalarial drugs as well. But now I am confused. The dr. said that Larium is known to cause bad dreams and horrible side effects, he recommended I stay away from it. He advised doxycycline or Malarone. Both also have side effects. Does anyone have advice on the best and most effective drug with the least side effects? I don't want to spend my 3 week vacation having nightmares!!! Thank you

Ghana Costs in Ghana

I will be in Accra and Ho, Ghana for 5 days. I was wondering what the average costs of meals are? I do not have to pay for hotels, but other than that - around how much money would I need to take for 5 days? Any input would be very helpful. I have never been to Africa before.

Hello everybody,

I am married to a Ghanian guy who lived most of his life in Europe.I said this because he is not helping me about Ghana so I decided to ask you.
We are going to Accra to visit his family.
I am wondering what things I should do there. Is it safe me and my daughter to go around without him.
Is there big shopping centres to get food for my 6 years old daughter as she is a pain when it comes to food:).

we will stay 10 days. Please tell me which places I should see.

Accra Mid-Range Hotels in Osu, Accra

I will be in Accra at the beginning of November, and I would like to stay in the Osu area.

Can anyone recommend any good mid-range hotels off the strip (Cantonments Road)?

So far, Niagara Plus Hotel and Blue Hotel look okay, but I was wondering if there were any others.

Thanks,

Accra Coming to Accra 19th October
Posted: Thu October 2, 2008 10:42 AM UTC
This will by my first time in Accra. There's seem good tips on VT, but much of it seems dated (circa 2004). Can anyone give advice about things to do/where to go - especially re. beaches, restaurants/bars , attractions? With about a aweek to spend, I hope to pick up at least some of the vibe and atmosphere of this city.

Ghana Travel guides and travelling in Ghana
Posted: Wed August 20, 2008 06:42 PM UTC
Hi,

It's really good to hear of so many people travelling to Ghana. What I wanted to know was how you all got around? Did you consult travel guides and if so, which ones? Did you find them useful? What is it about Ghana that people like as opposed to other more well-known African nations like Nigeria and Gambia?

Thanks.

Ghana Highways in Ghana
Posted: Fri August 8, 2008 01:47 PM UTC
I'm planning a three-week holiday in Ghana this November.

I will be travelling by bicycle, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether there is a shoulder on the highway between Accra and Kumasi and between Cape Coast and the Togo border.

I know that the both highways are quite busy with traffic, but I'm okay with that as long as there is a sufficient shoulder on the highway for cycling.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Barry
