Ghana Pub;ic transport to Volta Region
Posted: Wed July 16, 2008 01:43 PM UTC
Hi

Can anyone tell me the options for getting from Accra out to the Volta Region, Ahado to be particular, and a rough estimate of the price?

And one more question, what is the fine for overstaying your visa and can you get a visa extension for only a few days or do you need another 30 day visa?

Thanks
James

Ghana A volunteering opportunity in Ghana!

A volunteering opportunity in Ghana!
The Freespirit Foundation itself operates thanks to people of great heart who are eager to share their time, and skills, and make every effort to help…
We have just opened a library in Moree, a Ghanaian village, and have started supporting the education of the children there. This is where we are planning to organise an international work-camp this autumn. We intend to build a volunteer village – a few simple buildings with basic facilities that would make ideal accommodation for our volunteers during their stay in Moree whenever we send someone over.
Let’s build a volunteer village together !
We are looking for volunteers , preferably handymen or skilled construction workers, that would be willing to spend a few weeks in Ghana as team members. The tentative timeframe we are working on for the work camp is mid-November to mid-December, the exact dates will be announced as soon as they are confirmed. Our volunteers will be asked (apart from covering their travel expenses) to kindly contribute around 600 USD each in order to cover the cost of the necessary materials and equipment. The more volunteers we have, the cheaper it will be for every participant. And, of course, the more the merrier! J If you think you would like to help with the project, do not hesitate and apply today. You will do something that really matters whilst simultaneously having a great time!

Paga Correction.
Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 09:34 PM UTC
After I saw the posting about the fees charged at Paga Pio Palace, and as a citizen of the said locality, I contacted the Chief of Paga, Paga Pe Charles Awompaga about the said matter and he explained that chief palaces belong to all the people of the locality and any time any body sees a tourist, He/she charges for the tour of the palace without any approbation. Pe Awompaga would like tourists to make official arrangement for tour of the Palace in Future to avoid unathorized charges.

Ghana Closure of public offices in August
Posted: Thu March 13, 2008 11:08 AM UTC
Hello all. I will be travelling to Ghana some time in 2008, both for business and for pleasure. I'll have to interview some government officials, something which is usually impossible during the summer months, because they're all on holiday - does the same stand for Ghana?

Hi everyone, I'm heading to Accra, Ghana in April and would like to return from Nigeria. I am having difficulty finding airlines through all the major internet sites such as orbitz, expedia etc. They all say they do not serve Ghana. What the heck? Any advice for booking a reasonable priced multi city trip would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

After the final we're going on a whistlestop itinerary of Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso and back down to Accra - all in about 16 days. Any advice on Accra or the rest of the itin would be gratefully received.

We are trying to contact the Mole Motel/Hotel. We are using the number from Lonely Planet 22045 > 233 7 22045. But we only get a fax. How did you get in contact with the hotel to make reservations? (as we have been recommended to do).

Ghana local knowledge/proposed itinerary
Posted: Thu November 29, 2007 10:30 AM UTC
greetings,
6 days in greater accra, west to sekondi, north to kumasi, on to tamale, ferry down lake volta and another 6 days in greater accra. 8 football matches along the way. we would probably do it ourselves, however the logistics, inflex of people, tickets, lodging etc..... just seem prudent to use local knowledge. does $130 for 4x4+fuel and $50 driver/guide sound steep. it does to me.
can u recommend some local knowledge to work with to help bring an itinerary together. talking with acouple different guys now however i find negociating over internet difficult. stopping at nature reserves, cultural sites, markets ...etc along the way
hope to hear back
thanx, scott

Ghana flights to/from ghana and morocco
Posted: Fri September 28, 2007 02:34 AM UTC
greetings travelers,
my wife and i will be traveling to ghana in mid january to visit our daughter. she attends university of ghana in the studies abroad program from san francisco state. we will be loosely structuring our visit around the africa cup soccer tournament finals scheduled jan 20-feb 10. games to be played in accra, kumasi, sekondi, and tamale. our intent is to spend @ 5 wks in country(s) depending on flight availability. we`re really not sure what were going to do. thought about winging it. fly there figure it out. thought about morocco for a week prior to soccer, marrakesh, fez, that blue city etc. the train sounds cool. is air moroc the exclusive operator between accra and morocco cities? flights from new york to morocco and accra seem quite reasonable but between morocco cities and accra a bit pricey. we are quite flexible have no tickets to the games yet and are open to suggestions. would we be best advised to stay closer to ghana, say burkina faso and/or cote d`ivoire? are we being to ambitious? this is a vacation. any help is sincerely appreciated
thanx

Ghana Rent a car in Ghana and driving there
Posted: Fri August 3, 2007 01:08 PM UTC
Hello!

We would like to visit Ghana and we thinking about to rent a 4x4 car and go from Accra to north and back within ~2 weeks.

Is it possible and easily reachable in Ghana? I mean just me, my partner and the car? Without driver, because I'am photo maniac and do not want to stop driver each 2 minutes for taking a photo and want to have some freedom because of it.

I'am good driver (know drive on right side) and I can pay the higher insurance...

Thank you very much for your replies and recommendations!
