My name is Måns Williamson and I'm thinking of going to Sarajevo. Does anybody know how the opportunities are for a foreigner to find a work and an accomodation? Im very openminded.

I'll be in Sarajevo from March-July 2008. I'd rather live close to the center of town. Any recommendations of neighborhoods or rental agencies? What is a reasonable monthly rent for a studio or 1 bedroom apartment? What should I avoid in the "lets make a deal" racket of renting short term?

Finally, what are recommendations for telephone service for calls to/from US?

Hello. I'm trying to get to Sofia, Bulgaria from Sarajevo. I was going to take the train to Belgrade from Sarajevo, and then the overnight train to Sofia from Belgrade, but I am having A LOT of trouble finding info on getting from Sarajevo to Belgrade, and would rather spend more time in Sarajevo rather than travel to Belgrade just to get to Sofia. There are NO flights or trains that I can find.... does anyone know of a bus that goes from Sarajevo to Sofia?

Ok so I am going to Sarajevo and it isnt covered in any of my Croatia or Slovenia guidebooks. And I am having a hell of a time finding a tourist map. Anyone have any links to a map of the central city/train station/bus station etc. I would love to be able to find my way around when I arrive from Zagreb via overnight train or bus.

I'm moving to Sarajevo in September and I'm hoping to meet some nice people while I'm there. I'll be in the country for a year, I love art and literature, and I love to hike, sail and travel. I just graduated from college and I'll be teaching and researching for the year.

Is anyone else in the area? Any advice? I need to find an apartment, a language school, etc.

In September we will arrive in Sarajevo. After having explored this city we want to travel to Dubrovnik by bus. I know that Eurolines (Centrotrans) runs a line and that Libertas also has a couple of lines every day.

Are this the only options or are there more private bus companies that run a line between Sarajevo and Dubrovnik.

In Bulgaria there were many private companies, so there was an oppertunity whenever you 'd like to go. Is this also true for Sarajevo ?

Anyone ?

We are travelling from Sarajevo to Ohrid mid-July but I'm not sure how is best to get there. I know there is a bus from Sarajevo to Skopje Tuesdays and Fridays at 18.30 (is this correct?) and then I suppose from Skopje we can take the bus to Ohrid... What would you suggest? We have train passes so it would be better if we can take the train for the majority of our journey. I know Ohrid is not accessible by train but it looks so beautiful and I really want to catch the Summer Festival.

Any suggestions would be great.

Hi! I need to get form Sarajevo airport to Lukawica bus station. Are there any busses going in that direction or taxi is the only solution?

I'm trying to find out the best way to get from Sarajevo to Skopje in July. We are buying the inter rail pass so the cheapest way for us to do it would be to get the train, changing at Belgrade. But this seems a bit crazy to me as it will take 22 hours... I'm happy to pay a bit more to get a bus if it is direct and doesn't take as long.

Does anyone know where I can find out the bus times from Sarajevo to Skopje, how long it takes and how much it costs?

I can't seem to find out when the train leaves Sarajevo.Is it a night train or a morning? Any help would be appreciated.(July 7 or 8)

What is the quickest way to get from Belgrade to Sarajevo? It does not look so great a distance on the map, but the train schedules show the shortest train journey at 11 hours via a circuitous route through northern Croatia. The only flight I could find is later at night. Is it possible to drive to Sarajevo from Belgrade in a more direct route than the train (over the Drina river or via Uzice?) and if so, how long does it take? Are there more direct trains or other airlines besides JAT that fly direct to Sarajevo from Belgrade?

Hi, i'm travelling to Europe and Budapest on a quick trip and have always wanted to see Sarajevo. I'm aware that it is linked to Budapest by train and am thinking about checking it out.

I'm travelling on my own and there really aren't that many resources on the net for this city - are there bus tours that leave the city & show the surrounds, or is it advisable to have a car?

Would be cool to meet up with people and not sure what the hostel scene is like (is it vibrant?) but if anyone on here is a local or a traveller who will be there around the same time it would be cool to make contact!!
