Antwerp A good store/supermarket to buy beer.
Posted: Wed October 7, 2009 06:52 PM UTC
Hey,

Does anybody know of any stores/supermarkets near the city center (that's where we are staying) where I can buy beer? I still plan to go to bars, but why pay higher prices for certain brands when I can buy them in supermarkets. I like trying different beers and that could get expensive after a while. So since I'll be in Belgium I'd like to try as many beers as I can, expecially the ones that are not available in United States.

Antwerp moving to Antwerpen
Posted: Fri September 18, 2009 03:18 PM UTC
Hello! My name is Debora, currently living in the US.We will be moving to Antwerpen in the next few months, and since I have a daughter who will go to the AIS (American school) would like to know how far is Antwerper from Ekeren (where the school is located). What is the best area to live in Antwerpen (when the school is still a not too far..).
Considering I am italian and I love food (cannot live without my pasta, bread, salame, prosciutto..) is there any italian market? any shop where I can buy my stuff?
Culturally is Antwerpen alive, with galleries, theaters, cinemas...?
Are there some languages school where I can study Dutch? (like inlingua...etc..).
I am fluent in english, french, little bit of Deutch.
would love some informations.Thanks debora

Antwerp any mosques?
Posted: Wed August 12, 2009 08:09 PM UTC
hi guys!
My question might seem unexpected, but are there any mosques in Antwerp? and if there are, does anybody know about visiting possibilities? or is there any street or something like that where live arabs and there are located their shops? ( I'd like to get some souvenirs like arabic alphabet jewellery and etc.)

by the way, will there be any events in Antwerp at 20th-21st of August?

Best wishes from Lithuania,
Dei.

Antwerp How many days in Antwerp??
Posted: Wed August 12, 2009 03:59 AM UTC
Hello everyone,

My girlfriend and I are going back to Belgium in the beginning of December. The first time we went to Brugge and Brussels. We spent a few days in Brugge and 2 days in Brussels. As a result, we saw nothing in Brussels. This time we will be going back to Brussels to see all that we missed and to Antwerp as well. We will also go to Amsterdam.

Would anyone be able to tell me whether or not 3 days are enough to see Antwerp or would 4 days be more adequate? We do not want to miss half of Antwerp as we did Brussels last time. Any advice regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
Alex

Antwerp I need your help..! :-)
Posted: Mon July 27, 2009 10:52 AM UTC
Dear friends,

I have two nights to spend in Belgium, second one of which will definitely be spent in Brussels. Question is, where should my first night be spent : Brugge, Gent or Antwerp? (considering I'm arriving from Amsterdam by IC train)

Do you recommend doing daytrips to any of the cities i'm not staying at? I'm mostly interested in good sights, nice food, beauty and shopping.

Can you make any hotel recommendations for brussels and my second city - whichever that will be :-) ?

Last thing, what's the distance from brussels to the airport, and how can i get to the airport?

Thank you in advance for all the help..!!!

Antwerp How to go from Antwerp main train station (Centraal station) to Cathedral?
Posted: Mon September 29, 2008 12:44 PM UTC
Hi,

Could I possibly ask about the direction of how to get from centraal station to Cathedral?
Any metro map/line information?
I tried to visit delijn.be but they are all in Dutch so I didn't manage to get any useful info from there...

And secondly, what is the area of interest that I could visit during my Antwerp trip?
I only have a day there, is it enough?

Thanks for replies.

Antwerp some questions
Posted: Mon April 14, 2008 11:42 PM UTC
Hello all! will be in Antwerp in under a week and I was wondering if you could help me with some questions!

1)We don't like traditional touristy stuff so what places should I avoid? Any tourist traps? for example stupid restaurants and 20 Euro chocolates?
2)What and where should we eat like Antwerpians (is that correct?) Anything special to the region?
3)Which are the best vintage clothing/design shops?

Hello everybody!
We are planning on visiting Antwerp in April and we've heard about some cool designer stock sales going on around the 20-something but I can't seem to find anything about them online... Do any of you know any details or specific dates and designers who are doing this? It would be nice to adjust our arrival dates to coincide and do some extra shopping! :)

Antwerp Reuzen en koeien
Posted: Mon March 10, 2008 12:21 AM UTC
Hi,

Antwerp Wonderful integrated public transportation system
Posted: Sun February 17, 2008 06:26 PM UTC
I lived in Antwerp for six months in 1972 and was impressed with public transportation that was good enough for that time but there was not an underway system yet. Eleven years later I visited Milan for three months and found there was a very interesting public transportation system where tickets had a fix time limit after the initial trip. Time duration was 75 minutes and you could take any trip in any system while ticket was alive, with the exception of metro where just one trip was allowed. The ticket was marked just one time in the very initial trip (also at the metro) and in case time duration was completed while in transit, you were obliged to mark a new ticket. Bus or tram drivers didn't care about this problem and they were not allowed to sell tickets. You had to by them at the metro stations or newspaper stands. This obligation was checked by inspectors visits to the buses and they were very strict with cheaters, keeping their Id card and giving a date ticket for a trial or the payment of ten times the amount of the ticket.

Being both systems so similar, would like to know if there is certain relation with the italian organization.

Antwerp restaurant de Barbarie in Antwerp, does it still exist ?
Posted: Tue January 29, 2008 04:21 PM UTC
Hi all,

I would love to go (again) to Antwerp, and then have dinner in the restaurant de Barbarie. But all the details (phone, fax & email) given on the various internet (restaurant) sites (even their own website) don't work : the phone- and faxnumber do not exist, the email comes back......does anybody (someone who lives in Antwerp?) know whether this restaurant does still exist ?
I would love to go there, as we have been there before......

Antwerp Areas to Avoid In Antwerp
Posted: Tue December 11, 2007 11:34 PM UTC
Hi,

Im currently looking for accomodation in antwerp and have found a place located on Leguit . However have found that this area is a red light district (http://www.jmu.edu/pubsafety/RightToKnow/AntwerpCampus2007.shtml).

Could anyone tell me whether that is true, and whether that is an unsafe place to live.

Thanks
