Posted: Thu July 24, 2008 04:49 PM UTC
Hi all,
Considering a winter break of around 3 weeks over Xmas & New Year. What weather can I expect in Sharm?
If it is reasonably good weather can anyone recommend any reasonably priced accomodation. I will be travelling solo and prefer an apartment / room to a hotel.
Cheers,

Sharm El Sheikh calimera royal moderna and a few other things........!
Posted: Sun July 20, 2008 05:16 PM UTC
any help or advice would be appreciated as it our first time to egypt!!

so here goes....! a party of four of us are staying at the CRM from the 31st of august, just wondered if anyone has stayed there? read quite a lot of reviews already so know its quite nice, but wanted to know how far from Naama bay it actually is!! and if there is anything we should be aware of?? (good or bad...) oh and does anyone know what the sea view rooms are like?

secondly, are the plugs european or US style ones? my chap wanted to know for his hair straighteners, dont ask!!

thirdly, reading some reviews im not totally sure what is best to do regarding currency. do we change it in the UK, do we take sterling and change it at the hotel, take it out of a cash point or try and find a bank (being further out i think this option is probably not going to be possible for us until we venture into naama bay).

and finally...! nightlife... we are all in our mid 20's, we are going to go to pacha one night but wonder if it is worth going anywhere else?

thanks

Sharm El Sheikh All Inclusive or Half Board/B&B
Posted: Fri July 18, 2008 12:59 AM UTC
Friends want us to go with them next Jan/Feb but have no idea where to stay.
I'm told to head for Naama as close to amenities but need more advice on whether to go all in or half board and which hotel.
We are all 50ish like a drink or 10 enjoy entertainment but not clubs for youngsters.
I gather you get better value going AI but feel we may be tied to hotel.
How much are drinks on average and meals eating out.
What would you do?
Any advice would be really appreciated

Also can anyone tell me about the Pharaohs Club and whether this is an extra or part of the all inclusive cost?

It is our first time to Egypt and also first experience of all-inclusive.

Sharm El Sheikh Holiday Village Red Sea
Posted: Fri July 11, 2008 07:55 PM UTC
Hi Everyone.

I am looking to go to Egypt for the 1st time in Oct & was looking at the above named hotel.

Can anyone tell me if they have been there or have heard any news about this hotel complex

I have also heard a lot of stories of bad stomach bugs but i am not too worried about this as i have been to many countries that have had this & as long as you are prepared you usually can fight it as its just part of travelling abroad to new locations.

I have also heard of Aqualand as i have 2 youngv kids 10 & 5 & they would love this but unfortunatly i cant find any links for this so if anyone knows of a link can they please post this too

Thanks All in advance

Sharm El Sheikh what area is best
Posted: Tue July 1, 2008 11:25 PM UTC
Planning a trip to Sharm el Sheikh at the end of March beg April. Looking at 2 hotels, both which include a water park - Park Inn at Naqb bay or Albatros Aqua Blu, Sharm el Maya. The water park would keep the kids occupied (5 years - 9 years old) which water park is best? Also what area would be best for adults to snorkel direct from the jetty/beach. If not great snorkeling, is there somewhere nearby? Believe from what I have read that Naqb might be windy. Would it be too cold at this time of year for kids to enjoy the water park? (do not know if pools are heated) Thanks for any info

Sharm El Sheikh Newbie - Money in Sharm?
Posted: Tue July 1, 2008 03:48 PM UTC
Hi everyone,

I'm new to the site, new to Egypt and not very well travelled so really hope you can help! I'm heading to Sharm in October for my honeymoon and have a few questions about money. Is there anywhere in Sharm airport where i will be able to either change UK£ and get smaller notes or break larger Egyptian notes - i want to make sure i don't get scammed by the cabs and that i have money for tips! Also, is there anywhere i can withdraw British£ in the area? I have booked a couple of excursions with payment in British£ on arrival and i don't really want to have to carry so much cash with me. (staying in the Falcon inn viva in Um Sid if that helps!)

Thanks!

Sharm El Sheikh Picking a hotel in Sharm El Sheikh
Posted: Mon June 23, 2008 10:14 AM UTC
Hello. I had been looking for a vacation place for this summer a lot the past week or two, and have 2 options left, both in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

I was thinking between the Sheraton Sharm Resort and the Tropicana Grand Azure. Both of them have the same price, around the same All Inclusive and are 5 stars. The Tropicana Grand Azure (TGA) is more luxury and offers a bit more All Inclusive options as well as entertainment every evening but doesn't guarantee quality while Sheraton is an international chain of hotels that guarantee luxury and quality. I have also heard that many people who went in Egypt got stomach pains, probably because of the unique spices that are added to the food. I would say that Sheraton has a more European food that wouldn't cause problems for not-African tourists, while TGA looks more traditional and its food might be hard to confront for a European stomach.

Thanks. :)

Sharm El Sheikh Purchasing a online plane ticket from Sharm to Cairo
Posted: Mon June 23, 2008 03:15 AM UTC
Has anyone purchased a plane ticket from egyptair.com online to get from Sharm to Cairo? Have you done it where you put your country of origin as egypt even if your not from egypt? I see that by selecting this the ticket is cheaper, but I would hate to buy a ticket and not have it honored b/c my passport isn't from egypt.

Sharm El Sheikh Honeymooning in Egypt! Can't wait
Posted: Sat June 21, 2008 02:51 AM UTC
Hello fellow tourists. I will be honeymooning in Egypt from July 23-Aug 17. I have a couple of questions that people can hopefully help me out with.

1st, yes I know its gonna be hot, real hot, damn hot, too hot, I seem to see that reply in every summer Egypt trip Ive looked at. We'll be ready for it.

We are landing in Cairo, spending 6 days there, then a night train to Aswan, then get to Abu Simbel. I have heard that there is no driving between the 2 unless you are in a convoy.
Is this true? What is the reason for this?

We would like to see the light show at Abu, we will need to over night there then? What will we need to do that, or are there accomodations there already?

We hopefully will be able to rent a car from Aswan and get to Luxor, stay there a couple nights, then off to the Domina Coral Bay Resort for 2 weeks. Anyone been there? Is this realistic and safe?

Once we're done at the resort we need to get back to Cairo to catch our flight. How long do the bus rides take? Is it better to fly? Any recomendations?

And finally, if you have any other suggestions on transport, activities or touring strategies, please let me know. This is our first big trip together plus our honeymoon and I am doing everything in my power to make this trip extra specail.

Sharm El Sheikh Trip to Luxor from Sharm El Sheikh
Posted: Tue June 10, 2008 07:41 AM UTC
I have just booked a 1 week Red Sea cruise and 1 week stay in Sharm El Sheikh with Thomson for March 2009.
While I'm there I want to visit Luxor and the sites but don't fancy doing it on a coach as I have 2 children with me. I will be doing Cairo on onecoach trip so that will be enough!
Can anyone advise me of any agents or companies that do these trip as I would like to organise it before I go.
Also has anyone had experienceof these trip?
