Hi ,
I am travelling to Leuven in July/August (08)for a weekend trip

Questions I need help with please:
1) Are there any gay/lesbian accomm. options in Leuven?
2) or failing that any gay/lesbian areas (with cafes etc), where gay friendly hotels are situated?
3) Is the Stella Artois brewery easy to get to or are there tours that take people there?

Leuven Rock Werchter
Posted: Thu March 20, 2008 03:04 PM UTC
Hi Guys

My boyfriend and I are coming over for all 4 days of the Rock Werchter festival. We've booked to camp, but are really a bit old for camping - particularly if the weather is very bad!

Which are the closest towns/villages and do they have transport to the festival?

Are there any bed and breakfast or hotels people can recommend?

Thanks

Leuven Accomodation/flat/house in Leuven
Posted: Tue March 11, 2008 07:56 PM UTC
Hi dudes, I'm thinking of doing part of my degree in Leuven. Is there any chance to rent a bigger flat or house with other students? I live in the UK and I am used to living in rather bigger 'social' houses. Any ideas or tips where would I find details on how to find such places to rent in Leuven? Cheers for any replies;) Mira

Leuven need Leuven apartment Jan-May 2008
Posted: Thu September 13, 2007 02:03 PM UTC
I'm not a student, but I have similar requirements. I'm looking for a clean nonsmoking apartment (studio or 1 bedroom) reasonably near the train station for the first half of 2008. The "business flats" are too expensive and fancier than I require.

Any ideas?

Leuven China town

Is there a China town in Leuven or stores for Asian food? I heard that Brussels had a China town but haven't found anything about Leuven. If there is one, how is the price there? Thank you very much.

Leuven rent 10 bikes for ONE day
Posted: Fri April 13, 2007 01:53 PM UTC
hi everyone

I would be coming in Leuven together with other people(about 10) and we would like to have a bike tour in Leuven and maybe in the surroundings, lasting one day.
I have been looking on the websites and all i could find is renting bikes for at least 1 month.
Do you have any idea how I could fulfill this plan without renting bikes for such a long period?

Thanks ;)

Leuven Fr. Damien crypt
Posted: Fri October 6, 2006 02:19 AM UTC
I told a co-worker I will be visiting Leuven (Louvain) and she said that Fr. Damien is buried in a crypt there. She asked me to see if I could visit there, but I don't know where it is in relation to the Grote Markt. I Googled him and found a reference to Congregation of the Sacred Heart. Can someone tell me where I can find Fr. Damien's resting place, and how to get there?

Leuven First time to Brussels and Leuven
Posted: Tue September 19, 2006 04:41 AM UTC
I am flying into Brussels for the "Mankind" exhibit in Leuven. I've never been to either city so I'm wondering about the following:

(1) A good hostal or hotel to stay at in the $45-$60 USD price range.
(2) How far is Leuven to Brussels? Does it make more sense for me to take a hotel in Brussels?
(3) How safe are both cities? I will be carrying a lot of video and audio gear so I need to know how safe these cities are.
(4) Any favorite places?

Leuven Accomodation in Leuven
Posted: Tue July 11, 2006 08:24 AM UTC
Hey,
I'm travelling to Leuven at the end of August.I'll be staying there for one year to continue my Masters studies in Industrial Management. Unfortunetly, I haven't found a place to stay in till now. It seems I can't reserve online,it's some kind of a regulation for the university. Does anyone know if there are studios/rooms in Leuven that I can reserve from abroad?

Leuven Survival guide for finding a flat in Leuven
Posted: Thu September 1, 2005 09:20 PM UTC
Hi,
after some difficulties and obsticles, I am putting here my experiences while finding a studio in Leuven. maybe it would be helpful for some of you..
first of all: many many thanks to ELKE who realy helped me by sending guidance info and some good tips.
well...my situation is probably a bit different from yours..
I am a student, but not of KUL. I came to Leuven to complete my master thesis at a company. therefore, I am not eligible for KUL services, although I could use some of them.
I was looking for an accomodation for a period of less than 12 months. please note that this is the minimum time that most of the owners rent their places. so if you want less - you can negotiate and sometimes pay some more (like I did), but if it would be in the period of end semster it can be considered by the owner.
accomodation in Leuven devided to 3: apartment, studio, room.
apt. is a place with 2 rooms or more. usually expenssive.
studio is a place just for one person or couple but no roomates. you have your own bathroon and toilet.
room is basicly the same like studio but you have other roomates who share the place with you. means that the owner probably took an apt. and devided it to rooms in order to get more money and rent it to several people. each room contain a person and bath + toilet are shared.
anyway, I tried to look for a place through the net before coming. NO WAY!!!
the best way to find a place to live in Leuven is to come there. take or rent bikes and ride the streets. the owners are hanging rent signs on the windows and thats the best way to find your own place. first, figure out the neighborhood. second, start to roam around for looking for signs. then call the people and see the place. usually you can do it on the spot or at the same day.
however, before you come to Leuven, you can still search through agencies who publish themselves in the net. try http://cwisdb.cc.kuleuven.ac.be/pls/kamers/hvzoek.hvstart
and
http://www.coenen.be/student/nl/index.html
although I found them expenssive. they will rent you a place for a short period of time.
if you have no place to stay in Leuven while searching: try
http://www.leuven-hostel.com/
its a very good and inexpenssive hostel. and the best thing is that you can find their other students and people who also look for places and use their info (like I did with 2 very helpful german students who I thank them also).
when you reached Leuven , try to find the local newspapers. a one which I found many ads was Pass-Partout which is for sale for 25 cents at their store in Bongenotenlaan.

after you find the place. most of the owners will ask for deposit of 1-2 months of the rent fees. the rent amount usually includes the other costs like water, heat and electricity. but figure that out and make sure its included!!

anyhow, I hope you r not tired from reading and ready to open in search..

all the best

Leuven Help Arranging Pub Crawls around Leuven
Posted: Sun May 22, 2005 04:25 PM UTC
I arrange a trip abroad for my local real ale pub at the end of August each year, and given that we have already done Brussels, Ostend, Brugge, Antwerp, Ghent and Blankenberge, this year's trip is to Leuven. I also arrange an itinerary for Friday afternoon, Friday night, Saturday daytime and Saturday night. We will hit the bars around the train station when we arrive mid afternoon, and plan to tackle the bars in the Old Square on the Friday night. Midday on Saturday, we are booked into the Dom brewery for a tour and beer tasting. I plan to follow the brewery trip with a conventional sightseeing tour stopping off at 6 or so of the best bars on route. On Saturday night we plan to start at the Domus and hit a further selection of the more unusual bars away from the Old Square.
Given that there will be 16 of us and we are all aged 40-55 and we like a few beers, I would appreciate some help locating the best bars to visit:
1. Does anyone have a map showing the names of the bars and their location in the Old Square?
2. Can anyone recommend a 60 minute walk starting from the Domus at 2pm, taking in the main attractions (i.e. Studhuis, St Pieterskerk, Begijnhof, Heilig Geest, Janseniustoren, Klein Begijnhof and St Gertrudiskerk) and a good bar (with a reason selection of beer) close to each attraction (the 60 mins does not include drinking time)?
3. I would also appreciate a suggested pub crawl starting at the Domus at 10pm, visiting 6/7 bars that we have not previously visited. It would help if the bars have a good selection of beer?
4. Are there any lap dancing clubs or late night clubs that we could end the night in?
Any help is appreciated.

Leuven Solo in Leuven
Posted: Thu September 23, 2004 12:00 AM UTC
Hello all!
I will be in Leuvan from Oct 11th to the 22nd on business. I would love to meet up with someone for a drink or two or maybe even dinner. I will also be free on the weekends and will be sure to see the sights. Any good hang outs for a solo gal like myself?
And are there any lesbian/gay places in the area? Since it's a college town, I thought perhaps I may luck out. But if not, how about any nice watering holes?

Thanks in advance!
