Will be flying into Munich, Germany on 30 Dec and would like to drive around for a week, before going to Innsbruck for snowboarding on 6 Jan.
- Suggested Itinerary in Germany or Austria for 5-6 days enroute from Munich to Innsbruck. It is unfortunate that I will miss the X'mas markets (esp the one in Garmisch, which I hear is beautiful!) :( Any other suggestions, esp to celebraate NY Eve?
- Suggested place to stay in Innsbruck, for purpose of snowboarding. Looking for quaint chalet with live-in chef or something.
- Any other tips and/or suggetions!
We will be heading to Innsbruck for Christmas this year, its our first visit and very excited to finally have a cold Christmas (hoping to be a white Christmas).
Can anyone tell me where to arrange Christmas dinner/lunch on the 25th? And what will the weather be like?
Hi, I will be travelling with my wife and 4 yr old son from Vienna to Innsbruck by train in end November. Is the route scenic ? Also, we will be carrying a bit of luggage, is it possible to accommodate those luggage pieces ? Thanks
Hello...I will be in Reutte on August 17th or 18th and I have a couple of questions. I want to take a glider ride in Hofen but I cannot get much info on this. My guide book says they do rides starting at 1:00pm but the website translation says they start at 4:00pm on weekdays. I want to try to get s ride sooner than 4pm but the place isn't responding to emails. I also tried emailing the Reutte visitor center with no response. I also need to know what the rate is for taxis there. If anyone knows anything about the gliders and taxis, let me know! Thanks!
Has anyone been to the Swarvoski Crystal store in Innsbruck? Is everything in the store at full retail price? Do they have sale? If not, I thought I would just buy my gifts here in So California at the mall.

My family of 4 is planning a trip to Austria in August. We plan on flying into Munich, renting a car and driving to Innsbruck. Has anyone rented a car and driven this route? Was is an easy drive? Worth renting a car? Any problems or suggestions? We also thought we could take small trips with the car to sight see off the beaten path.
thx
Can anyone recommend somewhere in inner Innsbruck where 2 people can stay in a private room (with or without shared bathroom) for less than 25 Euros per person per night? Thank you!
My wife and I are planning a week in Innsbruck in July and would like some recommendations for easy mountain walks nearby for day trips. I wonder if we would be better off to spend a few days in a nearby mountain location instead of the whole week in Innsbruck for that purpose. We are active "seniors" so we walk for 3 or 4 hours on most of our mountain hikes and we like to find lift to take us up to scenic trails.
Hi, VT members!
I am planning to stay in Bad Hofgeistan for 4 days in June first week. And I find that Salzberg and Innsberk are interesting places to see.
Now I seek ur advice are both of them really not to be missed out to see? Or I can just take a trip to Salzberg as it is nearer. I have a fancy for Crystal museum. I have just seen it in the itenarys of the tours. Is this museum also something worth seeing and not to be missed???
Thanks in advance for the guidance!!!
Hi,
I'm planning a ski vacation to Ischgl in the beginning of March and have a few questions within regards to Ischgl and Innsbruck, hope that somebody can help...
1. The airport and the main train station are at the same place, or does one need to somehow transfer in order to catch a train to Ischgl?
2. Is there a Priority Club hotel in Innsbruck? NH?
3. Is there a way getting to Ischgl from Innsbruck at 10 PM without a car\transfer services?
4. Can somebody recommend a non luxury apartment\hotel in Ischgl close to the lifts, which can be booked not only Saturday to Saturday?
My friends and I will be stopping over in Innsbruck for 1 day on our way to Zurich in early May. How's the weather then? We're from a really tropical country so what might be warm to the locals might be a tad cold for us. Also, what can we do for 1 day there? what are the best sights to see?
Thanks for the help!

Could you please somebody give me information about the ski resort called Fiss in Austria?
Is it a nice location for skiing? We have booked a hotel called St.Laurentius, Does anybody knows anything about this hotel and place? Is the place worth it for skiing?
Thank you for your response.
Hi,
i`m travelling to Austria on the 20th january-29th january, with my husband and daughter. We`re flying to munich airport, and planning on staying 7 nights in a ski resort and 2 back in munich so not to have to travel for hours to get back to the airport the day we are leaving.I`ve been advised Seefeld and Neustift, but i`m confused between the 2. We`re a young family i`m just gone 26, my husband is 31 and our daughter is 6 so we`re looking for a nice family resort with plenty to do as we are not skiers, (but will probably give it a go), nice shops, good pubs, plenty of snow in the village, so that we don`t end up being bored. I was very interested in St. Anton but was advised not to go as it wouldn`t be suitable for families because it`s too lively. as i said we don`t mind livelyness as long as it`s not unsuitable to bring a child.
Has anybody got any good suggestions? Another option i was told to take is to wait last minute to see if there will be snow at resorts like Kitzbuhel or Zell am See. Kitzbuhel would be ideal for us but i`m afraid there won`t be snow!
Thanks!
Hi. We ar 8 guys in our best age 50+ who like to go out for a nice meal. Can you recomand a nice, good and a bit spesial place to eat? Perhaps it could be a happening for us. We will be there in marz, 5 to 9.
I have been to Sölden earlier and I eat a huge "Grillplatte" I forgot the name of the place but it was in the senter, on the south side of the river.
Lookin forward to your answer
Hi Innsbruck,
My wife and I are staying in Innsbruck at the Austria-Trend Congress Innsbruck in a few weeks. After being in town for a few days we will be going from the hotel to Munich airport on a Sunday am to catch a plane - we need to be there quite early - by 9am. Can anyone suggest the easiest (and quickest)way to get there and how long it would take? I'm guessing a shuttle or something similar would be best as we'll have bags and be hustling.
Also suggestions for any MUST sees in and around Innsbruck this time of ther year??
Thanx in advance for your input...
Curt
I'm planning to have a day skiing trip in Stubaier-Gletscher in Sept and I saw that there is a ski package on http://www.stubaier-gletscher.com/
Super-Skipackage(EUR 54,00):
One day skiing incl.return bus transfer from Innsbruck, day pass on the Stubai Glacier, on-site rental of winter sports equipment. EUR 54,00
Did anyone try this before? Is it worth to join or is cheaper if I do it myself.
by the way, did anyone have the bus schedule between Innsbruck and Mutterberg? so that I can better arrange my time in Innsbruck.
I will be travelling to Austria with my family and we will be staying in Pfunds from the 13/8/08 to the 20/8/08. I am trying to keep packing to the minimum and would prefer not to pack 4 jackets unless really necessary. Will we be okay if I pack short sleeved t-shirts themed up with long sleeved cardigans for the evening? will it still be too cold? Of course I will pack umbrellas for us and rainjackets for the kids. Thanks.
HI, I have posted this question earlier on Austria forum, Taking the advise of another VT member,It is perhaps better to post it here instead.
My family and I are taking train from Innsbruck to Bavaria region passing Mittenwald to Garmisch-P. I would like to find out if I can buy Bayern ticket in Innsbruck instead of getting down at Mittenwald. Does anyone know whether there is a DB-ticket automat/DB-ticket counter at Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof?
We will be traveling to Innsbruck and will spend 2 nights there.. we are planning to visit the major city attractions and we learnt that the innsbruck card offers free museum entry ++ . However, the card is quite expensive and the local daily transportation is pretty reasonable. Do you think the innsbruck card is useful if we are planning on visiting these sites?.. I mean is the card valid for these places and which card should I buy(if any at all) 1 day or 2 days??
I will be visiting : The Golden Room, Triumphal Arch, St James Cathedral, St. Jacob Cathedral, Stadturm, Ambrass CAstle, Swarovski Crystal World(may be), Bergisel Ski Jump(just for the view)
I am going to stay in Art Binders Hotel in Dr.-Glatz-Strasse 20, Innsbruck, AT 6020. The hotel is about 2 km from old innsbruck and 1.5 km fom town center
Please advise if I should get an innsbruck card!!
