Austrian Rail site (OBB) Posted: Thu November 5, 2009 02:28 AM UTC
Hi,
I was using this site (OBB) for research of a possible day trip from Innsbruck to N. Italy. It would not give a ticket price. What do I need to do? I don't want to purchase a ticket now (or online)since I don't expect to be there until the spring. Can anyone explain? Thank you

Accomodation in Vienna Posted: Wed November 4, 2009 03:58 AM UTC
I am planning to be in Vienna between Nov 13-Nov 23 and am exploring the possibility of temporarily renting a small apartment. Or even a room provided there is enough privacy. Oh yes, I would like a toilet inside the apartment (not on the corridor! :))
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Snowboard Trip in Innsbruck for 5D in Jan 10!! Posted: Sun November 1, 2009 03:12 PM UTC
Will be flying into Munich, Germany on 30 Dec and would like to drive around for a week, before going to Innsbruck for snowboarding on 6 Jan.
- Suggested Itinerary in Germany or Austria for 5-6 days enroute from Munich to Innsbruck. It is unfortunate that I will miss the X'mas markets (esp the one in Garmisch, which I hear is beautiful!) :( Any other suggestions, esp to celebraate NY Eve?
- Suggested place to stay in Innsbruck, for purpose of snowboarding. Looking for quaint chalet with live-in chef or something.
- Any other tips and/or suggetions!

Touring Posted: Tue October 20, 2009 05:20 PM UTC
Hi all,
I will be in Vienna from May 9th to the 15th, 2010. I am interested in going on The dragon, griffin, unicorn tour which outlines the magical creatures, their history and representation in the architecture. This tour is also good for children. If anyone else is interested in doing this tour, leave me an e-mail or respond in the forum. The tour costs 15 euros per person if 6 people attend. If there are more people the price per person gets reduced. One also gets a 2euro discount if they have a Vienna Card. If you need anymore info visit the website at www.wienguide.at.
Kind regards,
Antonio Mentone

vienna airport questions Posted: Sun September 27, 2009 07:22 PM UTC
less than a week, hopefully, till we arrive. a few last minute questions.
1 - where are the atm machines located as we will need them on arrival, easy to see or hidden away( like tegel )?
2- is the bus to westbahnhoff easily accessed or should we just take a taxi and be done with it?
3 - we will be spending four days in vienna, planning on using the eight day transport card for two people four days each. do i understand how this works correctly?
4 - where are the transit tickets for sale ( airport, train station, or only in subway stations?

Hallstatt by day or overnight? Posted: Sun September 27, 2009 06:54 AM UTC
I'm just starting to put together an itinerary for a spring photography/train trip through Austria. Hallstatt popped up on my radar when I saw a beautiful photograph of a quaint little town on a lake in the mountains (I'm sure you've seen the one I mean in National Geographic Traveler). Limited on time, is Hallstatt visitable in one afternoon, or to truly enjoy the place should I plan to arrive in one morning, and leave the next? Are there any other photo-worthy spots in this town, or nearby which can be accessed by train or easily by foot? I'm planning to go in early May 2010, so will there be greenery at this time or still barren due to cold? Thank you!

Which salt mine to visit? Posted: Tue September 22, 2009 08:43 PM UTC
I am confused as to which salt mine to visit... I have run across three so far, one in berchtesgaden, other in Hallein and one in Hallstat. I will have a car so transportation is not really an issue.
I will be going to Eagle's nest one day, so berchtesgaden would be the most convenient but I don't mind driving to the other ones if they are better. any suggestions?
I plan to be in salzburg for three days, so one day in salzburg, one day at eagle's nest and at the salt mines.
Also, heard that they are some good concerts in the city, any recommendations?
Can I drive myself to sound of music locations myself? Is there a map or guide available?
thanks,

Wine tasting bike tour in Wachau Valley Posted: Tue September 22, 2009 05:19 PM UTC
Has anyone ever been on the wine tasting bike tour through the Wachau Valley?
My husband and I are considering doing this but I wanted to know if it is worth the money. We only have one and a half days in Vienna. We are really interested in wines and vineyards but it is an all day event.
The website it here:
http://www.partner.viator.com/en/6247/tours/Vienna/Wine-Tasting-Bike-Tour-departing-Vienna/d454-3943GGVIE
Also - does anyone know if they leave from Vienna or do we have to find a way to get to the Wachau Valley? Thanks!
