Cape Verde O need some advice
Posted: Fri July 11, 2008 01:58 PM UTC
Hi, me & my friends are a group of well travelled women in our mid 20's & we are considering Cape Verde as our next destination. The main ingredients needed for our holidays are:
-hot weather
-beautiful beaches
-nice accommodation
-places to see & explore
-active nightlife (bars, clubs, disco's) we don't expect 'Ibiza' but we are not have a drink at the hotel bar and be in bed by midnight people!

I like what I have seen so far from different website but would like advise from locals or people who have travelled to the island themselves to confirm if the above criteria's will be met.

Thanks!

Cape Verde Information about Internet and/or wifi access
Posted: Tue May 13, 2008 12:46 PM UTC
I will be visiting Praia for a couple of days and will be staying with friends who don't have an internet connection at home. Unfortunately, I will need to check my emails at least twice a day and possibly do some work. I will have my laptop with me. My questions are:

1. Is there a place in Praia where I can access the Internet either free or paid using wifi? This would allow me to work from my computer.

2. If not, can anyone recommend an affordable cybercafé or other place where I can access the Internet?

Finally, what types of electrical plugs are used in Cape Verde?

Thanks.

4). What is the average cost of drinks?
5). Any restaurants and/or bars recommendations?
5). What will the weather be like at this time of year?

Cape Verde Advice on Sao Vicente
Posted: Wed November 14, 2007 11:13 AM UTC
Hi there, I am off to Cape Verve on the 30th Nov, I am travelling alone and all I have done so far is book the flights to and fro uk and the connecting one on tacv.

I would love know whether I can just 'rock up' and find a place for 1 night in Sal easily? and again can I just fly to Sao Vicente and find places to stay easily??

Where would you recommend Mindello or Foya Branca? Foya seems a little remote??

Hope to get some help

Thanks

Cape Verde Eating on the Islands...
Posted: Tue October 23, 2007 10:58 PM UTC
Hi !

I'm contemplating a break on Sal between now and Christmas, however I'm a little strange when it comes to food and have a particular problem with seafood......... I'll spare you the details... LOL

Having read most on the information on Cape Verde it seems, quite understandably, that fish dominates the diets and menus there. What is the availability of foods such as dairy products, fresh fruit and meats such as pork, beef and chicken ?

Please can you tell me if these are readily available. I'm staying at the Rui Funana from the 27th of this month and think I read somewhere that there was one outside the hotel. Please can someone confirm if this is true. If not where would the mearest one be located.

Many thanks

Cape Verde Translation Advice Needed Please!!
Posted: Tue August 7, 2007 05:47 PM UTC
Hi there,
My husband and I will be travelling to santa maria in october.I am extremely allergic to all nuts, to the extent that I can die if I eat any nuts (including nut oils, almonds etc), and not sure what language will be spoken by the waiters in Cape Verde. I need a few sentances written down so i can hand them this when ordering food in restuarants. Something that says....'Im allergic to all nuts, and if i eat any nuts i will die. can you please ensure my meal is nut free?' If anyone can be of assistance, I would be extremely greatful to you.
Many Thanks,
Catherine.

Cape Verde Buying property in Cape Verde - Noscasa?
Posted: Sun April 8, 2007 02:31 PM UTC
Hi All,

I'm interested in investing in property in Cape Verde - and after looking around have decided that Noscasa look to be the best company to use.

Has anyone any extra knowledge of them that might be useful? - their site is noscasacv.com and it all seems to check out on there. And any tips that you think might come in useful with any part of the process?

Thanks.

Cape Verde What are the pros and cons of Santa Maria on Sal- package or not, or another island?
Posted: Wed March 7, 2007 06:08 PM UTC
My boyfriend and I are thinking of getting a package deal to the Pontao Hotel close to Santa Maria because this is the cheapest option in cape verde that we found.
my boyfriend doesnt like non-hotel or guesthouse accommodation, but would it be cheaper and where would you suggest staying if we aranged the accommodation and flights from the UK ourselves?
I understand Sal is the most developed island. Would you recommend going there or should we try to go to one of the other islands???

all help and advice welcomed!
thanks
