Hi,
I'm going to Cameroon for 5-6 weeks, end of July & August. Everything I read tells me this is the worst time to go because of the rains. Is is really that difficult to get around the country during these months? Are there any activities I can't do? (Mt. Cameroon, Waza National park...). Could someone advise me as to what kind of travel & tourism is possible in July/August?
Thank you.

Hi. I am interested in visiting Cameroon in June-July [unable to go at other times] and Lonely Planet says many roads are impassable during these months. Does this mean it is basically not possible to travel around the country by ground transport at this time? Or do they mean many small roads? Thanks

I am hoping to visit my son who is serving in Peace Corps in Cameroon. I have no set time to do this; simply want to find out 1) how do I even go about getting to Cameroon? and 2) What is this going to cost me?
He is living in Hina in the Extreme North Province. He says he is easily 5-7 days from the U.S., so his thinking is that we will meet in a larger, easier to reach location. Any advice on that?
Or, am I foolish to think I can get to Cameroon since I am not really a world traveler? The extent of world traveling is England and Wales.
Hello, 2 friends and I from the USA are planning on flying into Douala, Camerron for 2 weeks in mid May 2007. We are planning to visit the Congo rainforest in Lobeke National park and track gorillas, visit pygmies and basically explore the rainforest there.
Do you know where we could rent a cheap jeep to get there? I found one place that includes the driver for $120/day US.
Our desire is to find a way to get dropped off in Lobeke National park and then a way to get returned from Lobeke to Douala. Ideally we are looking to arrange transport to and from Lopbeke national park. Do you have any recommendations as to how to get to this place?
I know it's a long way and would be cheaper to fly but i know someone who wants to drive from cameroon to congo. is this possible and want kind of documents would they did to do this?

Hi there,
I will be traveling to cameroon next year and will be staying for between 3 months and 6 months. I will want to rent somewhere to stay will this be easy to do? and how much will it cost?
also I would like to work just so I have a little money to get by will it be easy for a "tourist" to find work in cameroon?
Gonne travel to cameroon from Niger via Nigeria. Does any one know if I can obtain then cameroon visa at any off the northern border crossings sutch as Banki, Gambura or Mubi, or do I have to travel down to Lagos where I know they issue it?
Lots off thanks for help!
I'm just trying to find out how low the numbers of tourists travelling to Cameroon really are, the type of tourists who have visited and what they made of the place.
I am planning to travel from Cameroon to Ghana, but am having extreme difficulty in finding out information about potential travel options. From my online searches, it would seem that there are no direct flights between the two countries. Has anyone done this route before?
Also, I keep reading online and in guidebooks that there is some sort of boat service between Tema (near Accra) in Ghana and Cameroon, but I can't find details on this anywhere. Does anyone know if this is true? Is service regular? Is it expensive?
Basically, I'm looking for info on how to travel between these two countries by any means necessary. I'm also willing to travel overland if need be, but am worried this will be very time-consuming and expensive since I'll have to pay for visas to various countries en-route and find places to stay.
I am planning to visit Cameroon next summer and have a few questions. Maybe somebody with recent experience can answer them.
1. How easy is it to find a cybercafe? I plan to teach online while there and need to stay in touch with my students. Do hotels offer reasonable rates?
2. How much money should I bring -- not counting hotels/flights? I know it's a difficult question but I usually buy just a few souvenirs and maybe some books, CDs, etc. What are average prices for small things like that?
3. Do hotels offer laundry service? I would think they do -- but just in case.
I will be attending a conference for a few days in Yaounde. Can someone tell me about the nightlife around the Mercur hotel? Bars and hang outs? Good food places that are not too expensive?
Also, I will have about a day in which I will be able to take an excursion. Any advice on where and how?
I'm a final year medical student in london thinking of doing my elective in cameroon. Does anybody have any advise or know any hospitals which have accepted foreign students in the past. My French isn't great so the anglophone regions would be better. Thanks.
Zepal Bakery Posted: Fri May 27, 2005 04:01 AM UTC
Hello! I am trying to locate the telephone number of a bakery in Douala called Zepal bakery. If you are there and could send it, I would be very thankful!
I have some clients who will be traveling to Ndjamena Chad in order to get to Maroua Cameroon, however, they will need to cross the border between the two countries. Can anyone tell me what that will all require?
I was recently ripped off by an aupaire scam and am wondering if anyone knows where I would report fraud in Cameroon or in US? Also has anyone from Douala ever heard of Cedric Travel Agency Cameroon? They are supposed to be located at 58 rue du General Charles De Gaulle. Tel 00237 764-4149. I sent $ to this place for air fare hoping to get a nanny and am feeling like a complete jack ass! Can anyone help me. These people make everyone look bad. Thank you...Linda
I am being hired as a farm tech-staff by a French guy / company in Douala and was advise to secure visit visa and they will juz work on my working visa upon arrival. The compensation offer is irresistable but I'm a little skeptical on some things. Is it safe to grab the offer considering the following:
1) Visit visa - working visa to follow as promised. 2) Contract signing upon arrival in Cameroon 3) My first time to be working overseas, and no diplomatic mission of our country there as well as their country to ours.
The sponsor will send me an invitation letter to Cameroon and one way ticket via Paris.
Please advise. Any info at all will be greatly appreciated (i.e. securing visa), legalities, tips, warnings, anything at all.
