Juan-les-Pins Basketball courts in the area??
Posted: Sat July 19, 2008 11:47 PM UTC
I was just wondering where I could find any indoor/outdoor basketball courts in the Juan les Pins/Gulfe Juan area. The courts by my apartment are under construction and I don't know any decent place for my friends and I to go play. I did find another place in gulfe Juan but those courts were for kids (rims were 2 feet lower than they should be).

If anyone could help me then that would be great thanks!

Nice Travelling to Nice from London by Train
Posted: Thu July 17, 2008 06:04 PM UTC
Has anyone travelled from St Pancras to Nice by Eurostar/TGV please. If so:-

Is it better to travel via Lille or Paris.

Is it better to book thru Eurostar Or RailEurope.

What would be the best day/days to travel Or NOT TO TRAVEL by these trains.

To buy food prior to journey to take to eat on the trains or eat on the train ie what the Train provides in the way of food.

any tips would be appreciated.

Cheers

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Monaco by Helicopter
Posted: Fri July 11, 2008 12:25 AM UTC
My wife has never flown in a helicopter and also loves boat trips. As a holiday treat I have been looking at the possibility of flying from Nice to Monaco and returning via boat. After some initial research I can appreciate this is not going to be cheap. Am I right in thinking that flights are only available through Heli Air Monaco or are there other operators? Has anyone on here ever done this? Would you recommend it? Does anyone offer discounts? I am assuming there are boat trips between Monaco and Nice? Any advice or guidance greatly accepted.
Many thanks.

Nice Name of Nice cafe?
Posted: Thu July 10, 2008 08:51 PM UTC
I am trying to remember the name of a coffee and tea cafe in Old Town in Nice. There were 2 locations, one in the tight alleys, and it had the word "company" in it I believe. It served iced coffee drinks and coffee and tea in bulk.

Anyone know what the name of it is???

Nice Wedding Venue Query
Posted: Thu July 10, 2008 10:23 AM UTC
Hi all,

I am hoping to get married in Romantic Nice or around the French Rivera in 2009. Do any of you have any recommendations of a possible venue. I would love a hotel or other suitable picturesque venue, either by the beach or on a cliff with beautiful sea-views. Any tips etc from visitors or local people would be greatly appreciated. Alternativly if any one got married in this area recently they might be able to offer advise.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Aix-en-Provence A quiet location in Provence with a great view!
Posted: Sat July 5, 2008 02:24 PM UTC
Has anyone experience of what we are looking for? A quiet, small gite, in or near a village - a fishing port would be nice - in the region of Provence?

I am an artist; partner likes to walk. Yes, we do sound boring but after a very busy year somewhere to relax, with a great view and a few pleasant places to eat are just what we want. We are aiming for late August, early September.

I have been so fortunate in the advice I have received on this site in past years - I am sure someone out there wil know just the place!

Nice Resturants in Old Town and things to do
Posted: Thu July 3, 2008 01:54 PM UTC
Hi

We are going to stay in Nice for a week in September but on a tight budget - can anyone suggest nice resturants to eat in which won't break the bank where locals eat is usually good. Where is good to go out at night? Also can people suggest different things to do that won't cost much.

Thanks

Marseille In Marseille for 3 days. Day trip to Aix-En Provence or Avignon?
Posted: Tue July 1, 2008 09:26 PM UTC
Hi Guys,

I will be in Marseille next week and was thinking of doing a side trip to either Aix or Avignon. I know both have their distinctive characteristics, but can't really choose. Whats your suggestion?

Also, most importantly, what is the best way to get from Marseille to the Aix Centre without going via the Aix TGV station? I see that Aix has its own train station right in town, but it seems that no trains from Marseille go to it? Only to the TGV station and then have to change to a bus. Please help...many thanks!

Éze Nice to Eze
Posted: Tue July 1, 2008 01:25 PM UTC
We are arriving by cruiseship next week. We want to start in Nice. I've read that there is bus from Vieux Nice to Eze. Does this bus stop near the top or at the base? On the return is there a bus to Villefranche or is a taxi better? Cost? Are there Taxis waiting or will it be difficult to find one?

Thanks

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Road Trip in the South of France
Posted: Wed June 25, 2008 10:35 PM UTC
I will be arriving in Nice, France in a couple of weeks, renting a car and driving through the south of France. I have no itinerary. Rather than the "usual" must see places (Nice, Cannes, Monte Carlo, Aix, etc.) - I would really prefer to stay overnight in small, out-of-the way towns. I will be travelling solo and I speak some French.

Also - any driving tips?

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur lost a CF card
Posted: Wed June 25, 2008 03:34 PM UTC
Dear VTers,
I know it's almost impossible but just to see if you can help. I lost a "Kingston" 1G CF card in Sault. I think I probably dropped it on 18/6/2008 when I was on my way from the Hotel Le Louvre to the car park on the hill side. If you have any idea where it is, please let me know. If you know any popular local forums that I can post the message, please let me know too. Thanks a million!

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Where to stay
Posted: Sun June 22, 2008 06:02 AM UTC
Hi,
Just looking for a bit of local info as to where to stay on the Cote d'Azur in September. We have previously stayed in Monaco and Cannes and loved both, but we are more interested in smaller coastal towns this time.

We would love to visit St Tropez, but are unsure how to get there as we are travelling by train. Does anyone know of any ferries that travel to St Tropez from Monaco or Cannes and how we book these?

Thanks!!!

Nice Nice or Antibes
Posted: Wed June 18, 2008 10:41 AM UTC
I am coming to Cote d'Azur for 10 days and wanted to rent a self catering apartment for one week. I like going to the beach to swim and chill but am not a total sun worshipper!
Not too sure about the pebbly beach in Nice - would I better off staying in Antibes and having the sandy beach nearby and going to Nice on day trips?
Thanks for any help.

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Provence trip tips
Posted: Tue June 17, 2008 11:11 AM UTC
Hello everybody,

we are going to spend nice week with my friends(photographers)in Provence from 13 - 20 July.
Our first stop will be in Avignon and then we will travel to south - Marseille, Saint-Tropez, Cannes and Nice. I have few questions:
1. Would anybody recommend me what must be seen on way between cities - I have already tips for stops in cities but I would like to see countryside. In preference we want to make nice photos. I would apprepiate places like Sénanque, Bonnieux etc.
2. We are all students with limited budget so we are looking for cheap accomodation.
3. We would like to buy and bring home some traditional french cheese and wine, we prefer some street market. Does anybody have the idea about price?

Thanks for replies

Avignon Help plz. Transportation options from Avignon to Rochefort du gard (excluding car)
Posted: Sun June 15, 2008 05:47 AM UTC
In a few months I will be attending a job related course in Rochefort du gard, a rather small town located west of Avignon. As far as transportation is concerned I am unable to drive, what are my options to commute between the two areas? Is public transportation available? or would I need to walk?

Thank you
