| Halifax | Last chance for Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas Posted: Mon August 18, 2008 07:18 PM UTC
This coming weekend will be the last chance to sign up for my meeting in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
You will get to see the Norland Scarecrow Festival and the Sowerby Bridge Rushbearing Festival as well as a mystery trip thrown in. VT Mum Stephanie and Dad Gerry will be there and also Hansi and LoriPori will grace the doorsteps of us humble, quiet and reserved Yorkshire folk. If you would like to become a Virtual Attendee you will need to send me an email. Remember this coming weekend is your last chance. |

| West Yorkshire | Student accommodation in Leeds Posted: Sat March 29, 2008 03:49 PM UTC
My daughter, 23, is going to attend for a postgraduate course in University of Leeds. She has 3 options for accommodation:
1) Near University - 2) In the city centre - 3) In the suburbs. Is there any advice about best choice regarding the trouble for moving, the dangers of moving especially at night or any other thing must take into consideration. Also, any other advice or suggestion about accommodation is highly appreciable. Thanks in advance |

| West Yorkshire | New Year's Posted: Sun September 2, 2007 05:58 PM UTC
Ok I know it seems like a long way off yet, does anyone know if there are any plans for spectacular firework displays in the area for New Year's Eve?
Last year we went to the Lakes for a fabulous, romantic couple thing and the year before we took my boys out for dinner. This year we're looking for something a bit more traditional, hence firework display, a glass or two of mulled wine wouldn't go amiss (and maybe a whiskey or glass of fizz)! |

| Leeds | Leeds nightlife Posted: Sat August 12, 2006 03:21 PM UTC
We're planning a long weekend in Leeds and want to have a good night out. Can anyone tell me a few nightclubs?
We're into hard trance/hard trance/techno/rave and like to party all night so a place that is open till +-4am would do the trick for us. Not to expensive, good atmosphere, good music, and people going out of their mind... I heard that Evolution, Catecrasher are worth a visit? Thanks |

I do not have access to my credit card at the moment, and I need to find a place that has free wifi, or at least an internet cafe or some place where I can pay cash for internet use that I can use my laptop with.
I have been wandering downtown for hours and nobody knows of any internet cafes. |

| Leeds | TJ Hughs store in Leeds? Posted: Fri March 3, 2006 09:03 PM UTC
I'm off to Leeds this summer and wondering if I can find a TJ Hughs store in Leeds. I've been searching the net, but can't seem to find a homepage or a store locator anywhere. I know there's one in Newcastle, but since I don't have a lot of time, it would be great to visit one in Leeds. Thanx a lot! Helene :)

| West Yorkshire | Keighley to Haworth Posted: Mon May 2, 2005 09:06 PM UTC
My friend and I will be in England in 2 weeks and we want to visit Haworth. We will have a BritRail pass so we were planning to take the train from London to York to Keighley, but we are having problems figuring out how to get from Keighley to Haworth and then back again.
We went to Haworth 2 years ago and took the steam train from Keighley, but this time we will be going during the week and I don't think the train will be on its summer schedule yet. Does anyone know the easiest/cheapest/fastest way to get from Keighley to Haworth (and then back at the end of the day)? Thanks so much! Meredith |

| Huddersfield | Darn!!!! Posted: Tue April 19, 2005 11:36 AM UTC
I was supposed to go to London for a business trip next month (yaay), but now there has been a change of venue to Huddersfield. No offence to Hudders, but I can't help but feel cheated somewhat :(
There are only 3 tips on the place on VT, and when i entered a search for it in the Visitbritain site, nothing came up! Doesn't sound too promising. But anyhoo, my Q is this, as i will have to book my flights today, where is the nearest airport to Huddersfield - Leeds or Manchester? Will be flying from Dublin. What is the nearest metropolis? ta muchly, Orla |

| Leeds | Leeds vs Manchester vs Newcastle vs Edinburgh Posted: Thu March 31, 2005 04:28 AM UTC
Hi,
I am a guy from Singapore and moving to Berlin. But I am having second thoughts because of the language barrier and wondering if I should consider Leeds, Newcastle, or Edinburgh (even Manchester!). I heard there's quite a bit of drunken violence in Northern England at night, and was curious if I (as a visible foreigner) can expect any trouble? Any thoughts on the quality of life in these cities would also be appreciated. |

| Leeds | Jet2 Posted: Sat February 26, 2005 04:57 PM UTC
We want to fly from Paris to Leeds in September. Jet2 seems to have the lowest airfare and a reasonable departure time however I have never heard of them before. I am assuming they are a no-frills airline but have they been around for a while and will they still be around in September? Thanks for your comments.

| Leeds | car hire Posted: Tue February 8, 2005 04:42 AM UTC
Hello,
We will be flying into Leeds this September and need to rent a car for three days. We need to drop the car off in Edinburgh. The company I usually use seems a bit high on their quote, possibly because of the short term of the rental, and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a local company I could check with. Thanks. |
