Visa difficulty? Posted: Fri May 8, 2009 03:07 AM UTC
From everything I have read in the newspapers, on other forums, and two travel magazines, getting a visa for Angola had become a very hit and miss situation. Any recent travelers to Angola and what problems/delays were encountered, if any?

Questions about the current situation in Bengo Posted: Thu August 21, 2008 03:41 PM UTC
Hello I will be spending over two weeks in Bengo (based in Caxita) and I would love to hear about the current situation there: is it safe? how is the food? what to eat and what to avoid (to avoid upsetting stomach)? is malaria widespread over there? are there many mosquitos/dangerous flies etc? what is worth seeing there? Are there big temperature changes from day to night? I would really appreciate any advice from people who live or recently travelled there. Many thanks in advance.

How to get to Luanda? Posted: Wed January 30, 2008 06:26 PM UTC
I will be in Johannesburg the first part of March, but my real destination is Luanda. Airfare is absurd, plus i'm not sure how long i will be staying. Probably more than six months, and i'm sure i might be asked to show a return ticket, which would be difficult or impossible to change later. Any chance of there being bus or rail travel from a neighboring country? Cheers, Mike

Guesthouse in Luanda Posted: Tue January 30, 2007 08:35 PM UTC
I will travel to Luanda in the end of February for a research on contemporary art. As all hotels seem to be very expensive, I am interested if anyone has a good recommendation for a guesthouse, or family, community where I could stay. I will stay for four weeks.
I am also looking for artists, so if you know some intersting people, or you are one of them, please let me know!
Best wishes,
Nadine

GUESTHOUSE IN LUANDA? Posted: Tue January 23, 2007 05:41 PM UTC
Well I have been travelling to Africa on a regular basis for the last 7 years. I have a music label spezialised in African music so thats the main reason for my trips. Sometimes I just arrive at the airport, take a taxi, who dropes me in front of a nice place, I pay my 10$ per night and after three weeks I head back to Frankfurt. Sometimes I book in Advance but thats rare. Anyway I am planning a trip to Luanda and I am actually on the brink of giving up ;) first it looks like I need a invitation from Angola to get a visa!! I dont know anybody there so what to do? Secondly and thats been my main problem, I couldnt find anything under $65 per night. I am planning to stay 25 days so at that price its not an option. Third problem, I have written to 15 persones leaving in Luanda from this site but no reply yet. So if anyone can help, please let me know. Thanks. Samy

coming soon Posted: Tue July 4, 2006 04:43 PM UTC
Dear all,
I'll be soon coming to live in Angola (Luanda), and, honestly, my knowledge of the place is very poor, apart for some historical/social/economical info.
I would like to understand how it is the life there. Is it safe? can I take my girlfriend with me? what can we do after work? well...any info is welcome, as I am a bit worried about this.
thanks

Whore for cash, and happy wife. Posted: Sat July 1, 2006 02:29 AM UTC
Travels take me to this (some say) God-forsaken part of Africa. My question is are there any things in reference to transportation and getting around that I should be careful of besides cab ridding and car rentals? How bad is it? Boss is saying it is not bad at all. He says it's one of the nicest parts of the country. Is he right? Experienced? Help!!
