Posted: Tue May 27, 2008 07:55 AM UTC
Hi everybody,

I'll be in Algeria the first week of June for the whole week and I'm looking for some advises what to do, where to go, who to meet, what and where to eat, any night clubs, etc.?

Are there any VT members in Algiers? Would be a pleasure to meet somebody.

Thanks for all the advises in advance.

Algeria Bordj Mokhtar to Reggane
Posted: Tue September 4, 2007 12:15 PM UTC
Hi
Has anyone travelled recently from Bordj Mokhtar to Reggane ?
I have to set up the rendezvous with my Algerian guide and he told me that it is currently impossible to access Algeria from In Guezzam - Niger because of rebels. Also the access from Tin Zaouatine - Mali is strongly discouraged. So the route Gao-Reggane is the only one apparently « safe » to cross Algeria North-South.
Any one can give me some extra piece of information on road conditions. I have a 4x4.
Thanks

Algiers Is Algiers safe?
Posted: Fri August 31, 2007 03:42 PM UTC
Oh, i see i'm not the only one who asks about safety in Algiers. I found a ticket not very expensive for a weekend in Algiers but the recommendations from my government are very bad. they say don't go alone, don't visit the casbah, don't go without a person from the country...just what i wanted to do :-((. How is the situation really there?...it would be more useful to know the opinion from non algerian people, who went there as tourists, like me.
Thanks a lot,
Elisa

Algeria Weather/Visa/Must See
Posted: Tue June 5, 2007 03:26 PM UTC
I am thinking of spending August in Algeria this year staying about 20km from Algiers. Can anyone advise me what the weather will be like and if there are some sights which I really should include in my itinerary? Also, is it easy to get a visa in the UK to enter Algeria, I am a British citizen but can get an Algerian resident national as a sponsor if required.

Many thanks

Algeria cost of living in algeria
Posted: Sun May 27, 2007 05:11 AM UTC
Hi, In the next few weeks, I will be coming to Algiers to work as an engineer. I would like to ask if any of you guys can help me on how much I will be needing to pay for my hotel or apartment, and the cost food and other basic commodities in algiers. This information will be a big help. Maybe you can suggest a cheap but nice place to stay for 6 months, since my company will not provide my hotel accomodation. Thanks.

Algeria Flights to DZ
Posted: Fri April 13, 2007 05:55 PM UTC
Esalaam/Salut
Another flights question... can anyone care to give a short opinion of their flights on any airline going to DZ...
I have always used Lufthansa and been satisfised with the serivce and pricing. I used Air france once and... it was terribly overpriced and rude service. I really only liked the food... I have also heard Turkis and Italia flys into DZ... anyone care to share their experiences?

Hi, I am planning to visit Algeria this autumn via Spain. I know that a crossing runs between Alicante in Spain and Oran in Algeria. Would like to know if Oran is good cultural place to visit for a few days. I have been trying to get a book about Algeria but have been unable to locate one apparently Lonely Planet is publishing one later this year - any ideas?

Algeria Guide needed
Posted: Fri February 9, 2007 05:40 PM UTC
I am looking for a guide for probably 2 days in August. English speaking would be preferable. I am making the trip with my daughter, who is writing a term paper on the effect of French colonialism in Algeria. In addition to guiding 2 US females safely in country, we would like to be able to speak openly about recent and current events in Algeria, politics, religion, economics, etc.

Hello, my name is Lucy and I was thinking of traveling with a friend in Africa in September, we are both 18 and have never been before. We are defiantly going to start in morocco and then we are less shore wear to go next? Is Algeria a safe and interesting please to be? Wear else would you recommend? I would love some general advice really and maybe an idea of what kind of accommodation to choose, renting an apartment for instance and what the costs would be?

Any feed back would be welcome,

Algeria Travel through Algeria
Posted: Thu January 25, 2007 10:20 PM UTC
In two weeks time, I’m thinking of driving from the UK by van via France, Spain, Morocco, through Algeria, and my final destination is Tunisia.

I would welcome any tips / advice including info on the commercial sea crossing / ferry port to use to cross the Med, and not the domestic ferry of Gibraltar.

I need advice on what entry papers / fees etc into Algeria, and any other problems I may encounter; I only intend to drive straight through the country on the northernmost route to Tunisia.

Are there fuel points i.e. service stations and the suchlike on this main route now?

Thanks in anticipation

Tony

Algeria I need a guide for southern Algeria
Posted: Thu December 14, 2006 05:55 PM UTC
I need a guide for southern Algeria. I am travelling by motorcycle from Mali or Niger. I need a guide from the south to the north where a guide is no longer required. I will pay. The guide can have his own vehicle or ride on the passenger seat of my motorcycle.

Email me at daedalusfilms@gmail.com if you can help, or through virtualtourist.com.

Thank you.

Algeria Visa for Algeria
Posted: Fri October 20, 2006 01:20 PM UTC
Later this year i will be travelling from Mauritania, Mali to Niger and then onward to Algeria and Tunesia. As a Dutch EU citizen i need a visa for Algeria. I read somewhere that a visa can be get in Agadez/Niger but that it can last up to 1 week. Is there a better(more quicker) option en route, maybe Bamako?
