Algeria Bicycling without a guide in Algeria
Posted: Fri July 24, 2009 03:02 PM UTC
We are going two months bicycling in Algeria. I would appreciate to hear from anyone been there recently, because we are not sure if the police would let us travel on our own without a car and a guide.
How can we let go of that?

Algeria VT Staffer Needs Help with Press Project
Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 06:42 PM UTC
Hi, Everyone,

This is Courtney, VT staff member and I need help with a little press project we're working on. The Guardian newspaper in the U.K. has challenged us to help answer a question from a reader about tour companies in Algeria. If we answer it and they publish the response, they'll post a link to VT, which would be great! (I'm also going to see if they can post the member name of whoever answers.)

Here's the question--thanks so much in advance for reading and responding. We always appreciate your input, especially when it comes to press projects!!!

Question:
I'm looking for a camel safari in the Sahara desert, preferably in Algeria, and need recommendations on a good tour company. I expect to travel from mid-September after the Ramadan, and as I'm looking for time for contemplation in the dessert I want to avoid heavy tourism. I'm used to independent travel, so prefer a small group, and am fairly hardened to harsh living conditions overseas, but have not experienced a desert before.
I live in France, so would wish to travel directly from there.
Aneeza

Take care,
Courtney

Algeria 3-weeks trip by car with young child - Sensible?
Posted: Fri January 23, 2009 12:42 PM UTC
Hello,

I am planning a three-weeks trip to Algeria with my wife and a small child (20 months old). We'd be travelling along the Grand Erg Occidental.

Because of the baby, we are planning to rent a car.

Period would be 23/05/09-12/06/09 (flexible)

Is this a sensible plan or a bad idea?

Thanks for your help

Algeria Visa Application in Alicante
Posted: Fri January 9, 2009 03:31 PM UTC
Greetings.
Anyone knows how the Algerian Visa Application at the Algerian Consulate in Alicante works?
I could not find any information online about it, but was told it's one of the easiest places to get an Algerian visa.
I'm a Singaporean passport holder.
Do they require a confirmed flight itinerary in/out of Algeria, accommodation reservations, letters of invitation, organized tour, etc.?
Thank you!
Can't wait to visit Algeria so bad!

Tamanrasset Trip to Tam in March
Posted: Mon October 6, 2008 04:32 PM UTC
Hi,

I am planning a trip from the UK to tamanrasset in March 2009. My plan is to get a solid 4x4 car, drive through France to pick up friends and take a ferry to Algiers from Marseille. Once in Algiers, we'll drive through to Ghardaia, el Golea, Insallah and then Tamanrasset where we will be staying most of our time. My question is, Could we find a local guide to take us on a trip to the hoggar for a week or so? or if we could join an organised expedition? Also, what are the costs?

Many thanks for your answers.

Algeria Situation pour une femme a Alger
Posted: Sat October 4, 2008 12:50 PM UTC

Algeria Bordj Mokhtar to Reggane
Posted: Tue September 4, 2007 01:15 PM UTC
Hi
Has anyone travelled recently from Bordj Mokhtar to Reggane ?
I have to set up the rendezvous with my Algerian guide and he told me that it is currently impossible to access Algeria from In Guezzam - Niger because of rebels. Also the access from Tin Zaouatine - Mali is strongly discouraged. So the route Gao-Reggane is the only one apparently « safe » to cross Algeria North-South.
Any one can give me some extra piece of information on road conditions. I have a 4x4.
Thanks

Algiers Is Algiers safe?
Posted: Fri August 31, 2007 04:42 PM UTC
Oh, i see i'm not the only one who asks about safety in Algiers. I found a ticket not very expensive for a weekend in Algiers but the recommendations from my government are very bad. they say don't go alone, don't visit the casbah, don't go without a person from the country...just what i wanted to do :-((. How is the situation really there?...it would be more useful to know the opinion from non algerian people, who went there as tourists, like me.
Thanks a lot,
Elisa

Algeria Weather/Visa/Must See
Posted: Tue June 5, 2007 04:26 PM UTC
I am thinking of spending August in Algeria this year staying about 20km from Algiers. Can anyone advise me what the weather will be like and if there are some sights which I really should include in my itinerary? Also, is it easy to get a visa in the UK to enter Algeria, I am a British citizen but can get an Algerian resident national as a sponsor if required.

Many thanks

Algeria cost of living in algeria
Posted: Sun May 27, 2007 06:11 AM UTC
Hi, In the next few weeks, I will be coming to Algiers to work as an engineer. I would like to ask if any of you guys can help me on how much I will be needing to pay for my hotel or apartment, and the cost food and other basic commodities in algiers. This information will be a big help. Maybe you can suggest a cheap but nice place to stay for 6 months, since my company will not provide my hotel accomodation. Thanks.

Algeria Flights to DZ

Esalaam/Salut
Another flights question... can anyone care to give a short opinion of their flights on any airline going to DZ...
I have always used Lufthansa and been satisfised with the serivce and pricing. I used Air france once and... it was terribly overpriced and rude service. I really only liked the food... I have also heard Turkis and Italia flys into DZ... anyone care to share their experiences?
